Kate's First Day (OPEN)

Taylor had just woken up from a short nap on the comfortable sofa in the living room. She yawned widely, stretching out her arms. Dressed in a short-sleeved shirt and black pants, she was obviously immune to the less than normal temperature of the cabin. She leaned forward on her seat, groggily making out her other siblings just hanging out. Taylor rubbed her eyes, and saw an unfamiliar face just coming out from one of the bedrooms. Must be a new sibling. Looking around, Taylor noticed that no one really acknowledged the newcomer. She slapped a hand on her forehead. Why did she have the coldest siblings again? Well, not all of them were really cold in personality, but most of them were.

Taylor observed the newcomer for a while. The girl had this confused aura around her. Then, realizing that no one else was going to walk up and say hi, Taylor took the opportunity. "Hey," Taylor said, smiling as she walked up to the girl. She's taller than I thought, Taylor mused as she slightly looked up. Probably an inch or two taller. "Guess you're new? I'm Taylor," Taylor introduced herself as she stifled a yawn. "Er, just woke up," she mumbled, grinning, as she rubbed the back of her neck.

Taylor chuckled. "Not really. I just haven't seen you around before," she said. Well, that and Kate looked confused. "Well, you got claimed pretty quick, if I may say so," Taylor remarked, reminiscing about the time she got claimed herself. "Welcome to camp and most specifically, the cabin of Khione."

"November," Taylor replied, smiling back. It was the warmest room of them all, but Taylor didn't mind. The floor to ceiling window allowed an awesome view. "You're in February, right? I saw you coming out of the room."

Taylor grew uneasy at the question. She didn't really have an answer, and Kate had made it sound like Khione was a... Never mind, Taylor thought to herself firmly, trying not to imagine her mother like that. But well, it did seem a bit true, but Taylor wasn't going to admit that. She didn't want to get Khione mad.

"Erm, I don't really know," Taylor said, grinning awkwardly. "For the same reason that other gods also have a lot of children?" she suggested, chuckling a bit.

Taylor rubbed the back of her head. "Well, I'm not really too good with this mythology and history stuff," she admitted. "But I'll try to explain. There's a possibility that Khione might have some children in the past, just hidden or never known. I'm not too sure, but I think it's true. Well, some people don't even know they were demigods. And I guess the same goes for the other gods, minor or not." She smiled.

Taylor put on a concentrating face, trying to count off the years. It took her a few moments due to her dyslexia. "Around three years," she said, smiling. "That's nothing though. Some kids have been here their whole lives."

"Well, us year-rounders aren't really allowed to," Taylor said with a sigh. "The only ones who are permitted to leave are the ones assigned a quest." Taylor hoped Kate wasn't getting intimidated by the camp due to her explanations. Hopefully she wasn't doing a bad job trying to explain these things. "But some campers sneak out every now and then," Taylor said a mischievous gleam in her eye. "We don't stay that long in the outside since we attract monsters, so at the end of the day we just sneak back in."

Taylor peered at Kate. She seemed like a nice girl. She wasn't planning on telling on her, was she? Well, they're siblings after all, so it would probably be safe to tell her. "A few times," she said, smiling mischievously. "But never spent more than a day outside, with the monsters and all," she grimaced at the memory. Chuckling lightly, Taylor continued in a teasing manner, "Why, are you asking for tips?"

"Excellent," Taylor said, grinning as well. She honestly thought Kate was a goody-two-shoes who won't take a chance to venture out the camp. Taylor was quite thankful that she was mistaken. "Thought you weren't up to the task," she admitted. "I'm glad I'm proven wrong."

Taylor was now sure that she was going to get along great with this girl. A Khione kid with some Hermes blood in her? Yep, definitely one of the people in Taylor's prospective friends list. "I love you already for saying that, sis," she told Kate, smiling widely, reaching for a high five.

"I do, but I don't cause them half the time," Taylor said, her eyes twinkling. "But I do get in trouble. And sometimes I find them fun." She looked around. Some of her siblings had started to listen in, but they didn't have the drive to join in the conversation. Or maybe they were just being lazy.

Taylor put a hand under her chin, thinking. "A lot, to be honest," she finally said, smiling. "It's hard to choose." She chuckled. "I'm sure you'll love it here. It's our own safe haven... at least until that titan of time would start an all-out war..." Taylor trailed off, realizing what she had just said. She clapped a hand over her mouth. What, was she trying to scare the new campers off now? "Er, yeah, forget what I said," Taylor said, trying to laugh it off.
