| My feet brushed the surface of the water gently, and my tan flipflops lay beside me. The weather was quite warm today, to be honest, we kinda get tired of all the snow and cold weather after December. In fact, it was 75 today. I was wearing a sunset colored bikini top, it was orange and yellow and pink, all mixed in. On top of those matching bikini bottoms, I wore a pair of tan khakis. It wasn't the best combination, but the colors certaintly matched. I rested on my hands, and looked down at the water. The suns reflection mae it glitter.
It was beautiful ( not as beautiful as me, of course ). Too asorbed in my own reflection in the water, I didn't notice the footsteps of another camper behind me. Until I looked to my left, I couldnt have guessed the camper was here. I could see their reflection in the water, but I couldn't tell who it was. "Um. Hi." I said, looking up and tucking a few stray strands of my black hair behind my ear. Who was this person? I didn't know their name, and they probably werent in my cabin. I didn't see them around camp that often.

| "Uh...hi," I replied to the beautiful camper sitting by the water's edge. I was amazed that she could hear my footsteps, since I was barefoot, but even more amazed at her beauty. She definitely must have been an Aphrodite character. "What brings you here?" I asked, feeling stupid. I wasn't sure what even I was doing there. Then, as a warm breeze touched my bare chest, I remembered. I had on blue swim trunks and my ankle brace was off along with my shirt. Gathering my thoughts, which, for an Athena camper, shouldn't leave in the first place, I remembered that I was going for a swim. | |

| I gazed down at the water before noticing it was Rory who was apparently going for a swim. Of course, I would certaintly love if he did, I mean, if guys looked better wet than dry? I don't know, I've never seen Beckendorf in the water. If I did I'm sure he would look hot. Giggling a bit, I stood up and nodded. "I was just going to go Kayaking. It turned out that they left early..." I said rather bluntly. Moving my fingers to my necklace, which had a total of 3 beads on it, I walked over to Rory. I asked him the same question, as if it wasnt obvious he was going swimming.
Looking down, I kicked some sand and looked at the sun hanging high in the sky. Squinting up at the sun, I glanced toward my bag, which held my sunglasses. They were big and white, but would Rory like it if I hid my eyes?

| I looked down at my bare feet. As he said the last word, I jerked my head up. What? Leave me alone? How could he? I looked to my left and sighed. I didn't want to look like I had lost my charm. After all, I did think he was a little cute. I groaned a little bit and said in my softest voice ever. "But I'm bo-o-ored." I have to say, I did use a little bit of my charmspeaking in there, but who else did I have to talk with? Looking down, my eyes turned to a medium green color, I tuck my hair behind my ears.
I would never leave a guy alone. Well, maybe they would never leave me alone and I would never leave them alone. I don't think Beckendorf would mind if I flirted just a bit with a guy. I am a daughter of Aphrodite, so he probably would understand. "Can I go swimming with you?" I ask him, silently hiding the fact that I hated swimming, much less couldn't swim!

| My heart skipped a beat and I stopped dead in my tracks, turning to look back. I don't know what influenced me but something about her made her even more attractive than before. "Yes!" I said, a little too excitedly. I scolded myself in my head, then took a breath and back tracked, trying to be a little more cool about it. "I mean, sure, i- if you want." I corrected myself, still a bit mad for being overly excited.
She wasn't exactly totally dressed to swim, but I didn't ask any questions about it, so I stood there for a while. I wasn't sure what the thing was here. Do I just jump in, or wait for her response? I went with the slightly more polite one, and waited patiently for her.

| Laughing a bit, I smiled at him and held my finger up in a "one second" motion. Running into the trees to take my shorts off ( I had a swimsuit under it, DUH! ) and I unknowingly changed my hair color. It turned from a pitch black to a rather light brown. When she came out, she looked like an angel. The sun reflected off her shiny brown hair, and her tan skin. "Well, um. You gonna get in?" I asked him, cautiously looking at the water. I wasn't going to go into there. I could drown, or some freak fish could kill me. Or I could get stung by a jelly fish and get my leg amputated.
Looking down at my feet, I walked over to the damp sand. Cautiously taking a step back as soon as the tide came near, I jumped as I saw a moving shell in the sand. Staring at it in the moments silence, I realized it was just a type of crab or something. Shivering a bit out of uneasiness, I hesitantly let the tide touch my toes. It was a nice, warm water. Wasnt too cold, nor too warm.

| My dark brown hair dripped in my face, and was darker than usual. Gingerly pulling the wet strands from my sight, I shook my hard, and gave a fake grin toward Rory. He had a bum ankle, but so what? It wasn't my fault that he tripped on it. Cursing him out on the inside, I kept calm on the outside, and slowly walked over toward the shore, where I kept my hot pink and neon green towel (that supposedly looked like a watermelon) "Um, I'll dry my hair off and get in, k?" I said, wrapping my hair up and wiping the water off my flat stomach.
Ew. Lake water. If at all means, I preferred shower water, or at least saltwater. It rehydrated my skin, and gave me a nice glow. Coughing a bit, I sat on the sand, and laid back. My back was covered in sand, but who cared. The warm sun beat down on my stomach, and I felt myself get a nice bronzing. What's the use of a fake tan when you can have great weather like this? All the time?

| I looked down, and took off my wrap. My hair was dry, curled, and rather a lighter brown colour than it was before. Dropping my towel, I stood up and sighed. It's not that I didn't want to swim. I can't. I was never taught to. I grew up in a society where swimming gave you frizzy hair and not to mention green streaks! "Um. Yeah. It's okay. I can't really, um, swim." I stammered, shaking my hair and trying to advert my eyes away from his abs.
He was glowing, not as much as me, but still glowing. In the sun, I glowed. It's just part of having nice skin. Sun hits you and you get a nice tan, am I right? Looking down at my feet, which were pedicured and rather pretty, I let my shoulders sag a bit. Being in water just wasn't my thing. I really didn't know if I liked it or not, I had never really tried it.

| Rory had a good point. If I didn't want to swim why did I ask him? I had to think on that question, not nessicarily my favorite thing to do. My glow remained as I stood in the warm sun, trying to ignore the chilly breeze. Talking seemed like a good idea, but what were we going to talk about? Would he really like to listen to me ramble on about my sleepovers and all the guys I've dated? "Well, I guess so. But wouldn't it be boring? I mean, I could get my tube from my dorm and hang out in the water while you swim?" I suggested, hoping I don't sound desperate.
Man, where was Beckendorf? I haven't seen him in 3 months. I'm sure he wouldn't mind if I dated a guy or two? He did know I was an Aphrodite child. Playing is my game!

| As I nodded, I ran off toward the cabins, and along the way, I found an empty tube. It was one of those grey ones with a lump of air in it. Some smoothing out ad=nd a rope would make a perfect relaxation tool. I smiled, grabbed the tube, and ran off toward the lake. The air was perfectly still, and the sun beat down hard on my neck. It felt good, especially since I would know that my feet would get wet in cold water. Ah warm weather. It could count as summer in CHB, but I guarantee it's snowing outside in NY. "Alright, you can get in. I'll tie the rope to the tube." I said, smoothing out the lump of air as best as I can. Walking out onto the dock, I smiled. There was a pile of rope out on the edge, probably used to keep boats from floating away.
I squinted out into the distance. I could see some younger campers playing tag near the beach. Laughing to myself a bit, I tied the rope to my tube, and kicked off my flip flops. Pushing the tube into the water with a loud smack, I climbed in and got as comfortable as I could. My behind was freezing, but I guess that's what is supposed to cool you off?

| I giggled lightly, despite the hatred of water. I played with my zebra stripe duct tape bracelet, and tossed it onto the dock. I kicked a little bit of water back to him, keeping my ground on the tube. My hair was damp, and this time a dark blonde. "A little bit. I'm good as long as the Aeolus kids keep their temper down." I laughed, leaning back. As I said that, a gust of wind hit me. I grunted a bit and pushed my hair down. I couldn't hide my goosebumps from the cold wind, and I looked down. Why did I deny that I was freezing my butt off? | |

| Well, what would we do? I needed to to wash this water out of my hair, after all, water like this doesn't help with my complexion. Startled a bit from the rope tugging at my tube, I closed my eyes and took a breath of the fresh air. The sun seemed to be going down, and I was getting cold. "Well, I need to dry off. Dinner is in an hour or two, I'm guessing." I guessed, looking off in the direction of the mess hall. My eyes, from a blueish shade, slowly turned to a darker green color as I blinked. | |

| "Oh," I said, thickly. My mind was running at about the speed of a tortoise. "I guess...I will see you around, then," I finished, dumbly. I forced a smile. "I had fun. Anyway, let me help you out of the tube," I said. I swam to the shore, and got onto the dock, the golden afternoon sunlight making my body look fit and tan. I grabbed hold of the rope and pulled it slowly over to the dock, as to not tip the tube over. | |

| Oh, I should have made my point clear. Eat dinner together. He was cute, smart, nice, what else could a girl want? Smiling, I shifted my weight to the edge of my tube, trying not to slip off. My long eyelashes (I wore waterproof mascara) blinked at the sun, and then at Rory's tan body. "Oh, well." I paused, "I was kinda of thinking we could eat dinner together? I have this nice place near the beach, y'know." I laughed a bit, at my bluntness. It was no doubt I came on too hard. I hung my head a bit, and looked up with a sheepish grin. I gazed into his blue eyes, and mine turned a dark brown, (as it was impossible to see when the sun set behind me) If he said no, I had 2 choices. One was to charm him and force him to go on a date with me, or just move on. I mean, it wasn't like we had a thing for each other in the first place. I had just met him (okay, maybe flirted with him a few times before), and he seemed like a ncie guy. | |

| "Beckendorf? He won't mind, he knows I can't stay away from cute guys." I giggle, tucking my hair back behind my ear. The sun was getting lower and lower in the sky, and if we wasted any more time... The harpies could get us from inside the forest! Looking down at my feet, I looked back up. I shouldn't tell him this, but who didn't know I was a player? I mean, it's pretty obvious. This is the 5th guy I asked out since June. Beckendorf didn't mind at all, we both know I love him more than any guy I've dated in my life. "The harpies will get us if we stay out here any longer. We should get going." I proclaimed, my eyes kind of focusing on the single light of a cabin in the distance. Probably the Hermes cabin. Those campers in there always forget to turn the lights off. | |

| As I stepped out onto the dock and into my flip-flops. The dinner bell rang, and I shot a wild look at Rory. The mess hall was at least a mile away from here! How could we make it? It was far too hot to even make 1/4th of the mile! I sighed. Well, it didn't have much of a difference for being late to dinner, than being early. "The cabins are closer. You think we can stop by there and pick up a picnic basket?" I suggested, glancing over toward the left, where the cabins were particulary closer.
It would be dark when we get back, but a bonfire would make everything just more romantic. Of course, and who wouldn't need a Hecate kid to cast a spell on the surrounding area to protect us from harpies? I laughed a bit, and looked into Rory's blue eyes.
