Lady Artemis stood in the center of her cabin. It had been a long time since she had entered Camp Half-Blood, but with the war and tension thickening, she decided it would be best to try and rally some new girls for her Hunters. The stress was weighing on the goddess, and it showed on her young face. She had bags under her eyes from her lack of sleep, but she pushed on. So Lady Artemis awaited those who would promise to pledge themselves to her and join her in the Hunt. It was a simple process, really. All one ha to do, was repeat this phrase:

I pledge myself to the Goddess Artemis
I turn my back on the company of men,
Accept eternal maidenhood,
And join the Hunt.

Jennifer opened the door to the Artemis Cabin. She had thought long and hard about joining the hunt. It seemed like the best thing to do. When she had heard that Artemis was at camp, she knew it was time. Her boots caused the floorboards to creak. It was obvious the cabin wasn't occupied very often. She knelt before the goddess for a moment, and then straightened up and knelt on her knee. "Lady Artemis, I wish to join the hunt," she proclaimed.

Artemis smiled and folded her hands. She placed a hand on Jennifer's shoulder and gestured her to rise. "Kneeling is not necessary, Jennifer. If you are to join the Hunters, we will be considered equals. A family of sorts with the same levels of respect for everyone," she explained with a warm smile. Even her own girls knelt or bowed when she was near, but she tried to convince them that it was unnecessary. However, she has yet to be successful. "Jennifer, before you do this. You understand that this means you will no longer age. You will be immortal as long as you are loyal to me. You can die of injury, but time will not affect you. You will be required to accept maidenhood, or suffer the consequences of losing your Hunter status. If you understand this and still wish to join, repeat after me:

I pledge myself to the Goddess Artemis
I turn my back on the company of men,
Accept eternal maidenhood,
And join the Hunt."

Artemis finished speaking and smiled, urging Jennifer to repeat those words. She opened up her hands, willing her goddess powers into her finger tips. She awaited Jennifer to take the vow of the Huntresses before she gifted the gift of immortality to the girl.

Emily Morgan [daughter of Hormes; spirit of eagerness and effort.]

Emily had heard about Artemis visiting camp from several stuck up Aphrodite girls. They had mocked the goddess, making fun of how she didn't have a boyfriend. Of course Emily took it as a personal attack. She still had glitter on the palm of her hand where she had thumped the glossy, seemingly perfect demigod. Normally, the daughter of Hormes was polite and understood that opinions needed to boil over before such intense actions were taken. That was the usual Emily, but when people insulted the goddess she so desperately wished to please, wish to be serve, then things got personal. Artemis was a highly respected goddess. No simple Aphrodite demigod was going to make her sound any less impressive.

Once Emily stepped through the door of the the almost dusty Cabin 8, she was struck by the aura Artemis gave off. Under her breath, Emily started to whisper curses in Greek for being so ill prepared. The striking goddess was much younger than the demigod had been expecting. She was so normal looking, yet so powerful, and so special. There wasn't another person like Artemis, of that, Emily was completely sure.

The daughter of Hormes's heart began to beat at a rapid pace as she heard the oath spoken to another girl wishing to join the Huntresses. Emily couldn't tell by just looking at the girl whether she was a good fighter or not, but Emily did know the only thing she wanted was to impress Artemis with her fighting talents. Taking in one slow and calming breath before kneeling down behind the girl being sworn in, Emily ran he hand across her brow, clearing it of any sweat. Of course that only rubbed a smug of dirt across her face, but the girl looked like a natural Huntress. Even with her perfect curly locks, Emily looked like she belonged with the natural goddess.

Waiting was the hardest thing Emily had ever faced, but she still appeared calm on the outside. It was one of the things that came effortlessly to her (masking emotions). One of the few things that Emily had to concentrate immensely on, though, was sitting still, and she fidgeted before the humble goddess. A sly smile crept along Emily's easily amused face, and she began humming quietly to herself, trying not to laugh.

-I'll spread my wings;
And I'll learn how to fly!
Though it's not easy to tell you goodbye,
I gotta take a risk.

joanne crept silently into Cabin 8. She scolded herself silently for wearing heels. Lady Artemis was at the back of the room with other girls. She walked towards one of the girls in the back as the girl in the front pledged herself to Artemis. Joanne was sure she wanted to do this. She couldn't stand men anymore after what they had done to her sister. She shuddered at the thought of it and knelt down beside the girl. Joey lowered her head to her feet and waited for the girl to finish.

Artemis turned to the two other girls who had yet to speak. She gestured for them both to rise and gave a warm smile. "You would both like to join the Hunt, yes? It will be wonderful to have such talented girls," she paused before she opened the palms of her hands and spoke again. "Repeat after me:"

Artemis finished speaking and smiled. She awaited the two girls to take the vow of the Huntresses before she gifted the gift of immortality to the girl. While she waited, she took in a breath and ket it out slowly through her nose. A visible golden mist trickled out and slowly snaked over to Jennifer and Maysie. She turned to them and spoke. "You have accepted my ways and promised to be loyal. And for that I give you the give of immortality. Time shall not affect you and you shall be my Huntresses forever more," The golden mist glistened around Jennifer and Maysie for a moment before it vanished as though it had never been there.

joanne gulped silently and rose. Didn't Lady Artemis want her to bow? She guess she didn't. She pushed her blonde hair back and closed her eyes. She couldn't believe this was happening. Immortality? That wasn't the main point. She wanted to be close to her gender, not with the opposite sex. She hated men and would do anything to get rid of them. This was not that, but she felt as though this was the right thing to do. She looked Lady Artemis in the eyes and recited the pledge: "I pledge myself to the Goddess Artemis. I turn my back to the company of men, accept eternal maidenhood, and join the Hunt." She ended with complete confidence and a smile on her face. She hadn't realized her slight Irish accent had shown when she spoke the pledge. Maybe it was because Joey was so relaxed, she had to be her real self.

Artemis smiled warmly and repeated the process she had on Jennifer and Maysie. The golden mist poured around Joanne and enveloped her in warmth and light. It seeped into her skin and faded away moments later. "Welcome to the Hunt, Joanne. You are one of my Hunters now," she said. She placed a hand on Joanne's shoulder and smiled. "How do you feel? Sometimes that mist can make you a little queezy. But it's the easiest way to pass on immortality," she explained. Letting her arm drop to her side, she went back to her original place and waited for other girls to make the pledge and join her on the Hunt.

Jennifer smiled and stood up, brushing dust from her knees. She took a look at the other girls who had joined them. Then, her mind knew her decision was perfect. Being immortal, fighting alongside the Hunters, no testosterone? Heck yeah. But even for a moment, doubt crossed her mind. Eventually, everyone she knows currently will die. She'd be without them. The Hunters also promised a family. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes. "I pledge myself to the Goddess Artemis, I turn my back on the company of men, accept eternal maidenhood, and join the hunt," she recited.

Kana, was pacing the courtyard. What was she thinking? Joining the Hunt? She didn't want to leave her sister, who for sure would feel empty. But, she didn't like Camp this way. With all the boys thinking of themselves more superior. With the Hunt, she could feel superior in her own way. They would be equal amongst themselves. Finally her mind was decided.

She walked steadily up the porch of Cabin 8, Artemis. She opened the door as slowly as possible, not wanting to make a creek The place was cold and unused. Though Lady Artemis was there, probably totally warm. Kana walked to the middle of the cabin, tried to make herself look appropriate very quickly by letting her black hair fall. Then, closing her eyes, she recited the pledge with confidence.

I turn my back on the company of men,
Accept eternal maidenhood,
And join the Hunt.

Kana opened her eyes waiting for something of a joyous feeling to pass through.

It was somewhere between 9:oo and 1o:3o at night. Emma really wasn't sure. She had made up her mind. She was to pledge herself to Artemis, tonight. She didn't care what time it was, she had made up her mind. She got dressed and she made her way to the cabin right next to hers. The Artemis Cabin. She found Artemis and a few other girls. She leaned down on one knee in front of the Goddess and closing her eyes, she recited, "I pledge myself to the Goddess Artemis, I turn my back on the company of men, Accept eternal maidenhood, and join the Hunt."

Artemis watched as more girls started to file into the room. 'I wonder if I should have just waited and done them all at once..' she thought, realizing that that might be a bit more efficient. But then again, having your own personal experience is what made this opportunity so memorable to all of her girls. The goddess recalled a conversation where her Hunters described their pledge and what happened in each of those memories and Artemis was overjoyed that they cherished their memories as much as she did. Snapping out of her thoughts, Artemis turned to the two new girls and listened to them speak the oath of the Hunters. She smiled and continued the same process. She blew the golden mist around the two and watched as it seeped into their flesh and gave them the gift of immortality. She smiled and clapped her hands together. "Welcome to the Hunt."

The feeling was...amazing. Kana felt renewed and well. Her happiness was at its highest degree. She looked at her hands. No different in appearance, but slightly glowing. A smile spread across her face. "Thank you, Lady Artemis. For this opportunity. I feel I can be a better person now." Looking at the other girls, who were already Hunters, made her feel so jumpy. They looked nice and that was a good thing. People who were like her; it just made her feel, good about herself.

A victory for my self-being. Amazing.

Everyone in the cabin had already joined, which made Emily feel rather uncomfortable. "Just say the pledge?" She asked, almost stating it to herself. For some reason she always felt like there was something the had to do. Upon hearing of the goddess recruiting, Emily knew exactly why her heart mostly felt so empty. She was meant to be a huntress. Chuckling to herself, Emily nodded proudly, feeling confident in herself. She was the fiercest fighter at camp, most likely, even more so than an Ares kid. If Emily wanted to finally settle down and side with someone, nothing was stopping her from choosing the huntresses.

Standing up straighter and puffing out her chest to appear stronger, Emily began speaking slowly, trying to memorize each word of the oath by drinking it in. "I pledge myself to the Goddess Artemis," Emily began, nodding sharply. That part was easy. She already defended the goddess in just about everything. "I turn my back on the company of men," Emily sucked in a loud gasp. Thomas. Her brother. Her best friend. Unless she was allowed to still see Thomas, the huntress thing couldn't be worth it! But it was, so Emily kept talking. "Accept eternal maidenhood," Eternal. She was going to live forever, without a love except for the love of friendship, but forever nonetheless. "And join the hunt." The hunt. That was where she belonged. Just the words felt powerful coming out of the brave girl's mouth, and before she realized it, the room was silent. The only girl who had yet to say the pledge had been Emily afterall, but after the oath, everything just seemed quieter. Waiting anxiously for something to happen, the daughter of Hormes fiddled with her fingers.

Cassidy's heart was beating out of her chest. She was making a bold decision, to join Artemis. She had thought about this long and hard. Cassidy told herself it was best. She had no desire to love boys, they were a simple setback to her. She had no desire to stay at camp any longer than she had to. Cassidy wanted to stay and make friends with girls like her. She walked up to cabin eight and pushed the door open. Other girls already stood in the room, making it seem smaller. She bit her lip and pushed through the crowd. Cassidy knew Artemis was here somewhere, somewhere close. She could feel it.

Cassidy heard the other girls saying the pledge. The pledge that would change their lives forever. She saw a glimpse of the goddess and a small smile formed on her face. "No going back now." she thought. "I pledge myself to the goddess Artemis." Cassidy began, her voice strong. "I turn my back on the company of men." she said, nodding. That part was easy, she never wanted to deal with them again. "Accept eternal maidenhood." Cassidy said. "Yeah that's right, live forever." she thought. Cassidy only had one more line. A simple line. "And join the hunt." she finished. The words flew out of her mouth, and she swore to herself never to take them back. Ever. Cassidy looked around the cabin, at her fellow hunters. Hopefully, she belonged here.

Lily walked into the cabin slowly and nervously. She heard someone say a pledge. Choosing to join Artemis was a big decision but she wanted to so badly. Lily's hands were shaking. All she had to do was say a few words. Why was she so nervous? She took a deep breath. What if there was a special way to do it? What if she said it wrong? What if Artemis didn't let her join? She walked deeper into the cabin.

She closed her eyes and took another deep breath. "I pledge myself to Goddess Artems." She began. She opened one eye and could see quite a few people had turned to stare at her. "I turn my back on the company of men." She closed her eye again. She took another deep breath. "Accept eternal maiden, and..." She was so nervous. "...join the hunt." She didn't dare open her eyes. She was too nervous.

Cassidy heard another girl step in, only this one was younger. She looked only 12, and terrified. Maybe not terrified, nervous. Cassidy felt bad for her, but had no intention of giving her pity. The girl was a hunter now and they would be strong together. Cassidy set her dark hair up in a ponytail and looked at Artemis again, trying to guess what the goddess would say.

Cassidy knew she was in company with some bright girls, girls who knew what they were doing. Did she know what she was doing? Cassidy wanted to impress Artemis and be important. That was something she had wanted her whole life, and so far, hadn't found. She had never wanted something so bad. Cassidy sighed and looked down at her feet, thinking about how to impress the goddess.

Artemis watched as one, two, three girls entered the cabin and made their vows. This really was much more than she was expecting! Artemis smiled proudly and examined the three new girls. Each looked healthy and strong and willing to make the oath. Perfect Huntresses in her opinion. Artemis gestured for the girls to rise and offered a smile. "Welcome to the Hunt."

ooc: This is really all I'm going to be saying for every post... So that's why I'm waiting for groups so it's not like every other message is just Artemis saying "Welcome to the Hunt". So if I don't post at first, that doesn't mean your girl isn't a Hunter. It means I'm waiting for a few more people.

Carefully with a straight back Ruby entered the Artemis Cabin. Her decision had been made, she'd been hurt once too many by men and had enough of them. They were vile creatures to her. She was looking very pretty, she wanted to look her best when she would pledge herself to the Lady of the Hunt. Artemis herself. She was dressed in a copy of a Peplos that coloured a soft shade of pink. Around her neck was a simple necklace with a single heart-shaped diamond pendant hanging between her breasts. Normally she wouldn't wear heels but in cases like these where she would meet the Goddess formally she'd slipped into some simple silver high-heels that left most of her feet exposed anyway and was just laced up and tied to make sure it didn't fall of somewhere below her knees under her robes. Even with the extra height her dress brushed the floor. She saw Artemis and was breathless and walked up to her. She sank to her knees and bowed her head,

"I pledge myself to the Goddess Artemis,
I turn my back on the company of men,
Accept eternal maidenhood,
and join the Hunt,"

On a single impulse as she rose to her feet she curtseyed and whispered "Blessed be my Goddess." before waiting for her judgement, approval or rejection, what would it be? She carefully regarded Artemis with her clear green eyes. The words she had spoken left a lot of magic in the air, she was a Child of Hecate and when she spoke incantations like that they were more binding than with normal dem- well, no demi-god is normal so lets go with other - than with other demi-gods so if she was accepted she couldn't drop out like some of the Huntresses had and could do.
