Taking walks and relaxing...

"This is very bizarre..."

My voice was barely heard over the sounds of other people talking. Someone had already explained to me where I was and what was happening, and the words made my head hurt. So the myths they taught us in class were really true? I had a hard time believing it, but it looked like I had no choice. Now, every time I see something out of the ordinary, I rub my eyes to make sure that I wasn't dreaming.

I held on to Rocky's leash firmly. I figured it wasn't safe for him to explore on his own, what with those people practicing with weapons all around the place. He was as curious of the place as I was. He poked around the bushes, maybe searching for something to eat. I ignored him until he suddenly pulled me through the bush (why does he have to be such a large and strong dog?).

"Rocky!" I cried out in an effort to stop him. He slowed down, sniffing the ground. I sighed, and realized that there was a huge lake in front of me. And that there was someone in front of us, staring at the sky. My first thought was that I disturbed him or something, so I apologized.

"Sorry for that..."

"Um... Rocky. And yes... he's a Golden," I replied quietly. Rocky was pretty much a lovable dog. He curled up and licked the boy's hand. I just hovered awkwardly in the background, letting Rocky do the socializing and stuff.

Come on, say something, I thought to myself, but nothing seemed to come to mind. The boy looked a lot older than I was, and pretty much looked like one of the 'emo' guys. Hm, weren't those the people who got depressed and cut themselves? Well putting that fact aside... He also looked like he had been in this place for a long time. For starters, his face didn't have that scared, confused look that most of us newbies have. Maybe I should ask something about this new world. Wasn't that the thing to do?

So I inhaled deeply and asked, "Are you a demigod too?"

And then a moment later, I realized that it was obvious that he was. Every human here was a demigod after all. I needed to add something...something to not make him think that I was stupid... Let me think... Got it! "Um, never mind... How long have you...been here?" Whew. Saved.

"Well, I've been here for 7 years. I used to live in chicago with my dad and my sister Raz. Athena escorted me to camp."

The girl was acting shy. I have no idea why, am I intimidating? I hope not.

She looked as if she was examining my arms then my face then my arms again.

"Rocky, what a nice name. He's very...playful." I chuckled a bit.

I wish I had a companion like Rocky. I have Dove, my girlfriend but we barely get to act like a real couple, you know, because we're demigods.

Sometimes, I regret coming to this camp. All it is, is work! work! work!

I looked up at the girl and half-heartedly smiled. She seemed nice enough. Very shy at the moment but nice.

Athena? As in the goddess? He really met her? Questions swarmed my mind. Questions that I was too afraid to ask, since I would probably sound like an excited school girl. So I just continued staring at him. It took me a few seconds to remember that staring was rude and so, I snapped out of it.

I watched Rocky, now bounding excitedly from side to side while wagging his tail. His eyes were fixed on the boy, and I knew that pulling him away now would be a little hard considering that he didn't want to leave yet. So I needed to start a conversation. Anything to cut the awkward silence.

"Your godparent is Athena?" I asked hesitantly.

"No, it's just, Khione refused to escort me because I was a mistake. My dad was at a bar when yea know....., So Athena escorted me to camp because she thought it was unfair to me."

She was actually concerned about me I think. Well, thats different. She looked excited, but she was holding it back. Why?

"Want to go for a canoe ride with Rocky?"

So the gods and goddesses were kinda nice... in a sense. He mentioned about being a mistake. Didn't his mother love him? I was raised to believe that parents love their children...or maybe not. For one thing, I still didn't know who my father was. Maybe he just didn't care. A lot of kids here were still unclaimed, and being one of them myself, I felt terrible. Sometimes I wanted to shout to the skies, say something like 'Hey! Unclaimed children over here!' The gods didn't know how bad it was to be unclaimed, like me. They just didn't understand...

I vaguely heard him ask if I wanted to go on a canoe ride with Rocky. Wait, I didn't even know his name. I barely knew the guy. Another concern was Rocky--what if he moved too much and fell to the water? But looking at the dog, I could see that Rocky even went into a more excited state just at the mention of a canoe ride. What the--did he just understand what the boy said? Did he even know what a 'canoe' was? Well that's just crazy.

But honestly, deep inside I...kinda...wanted to go for a canoe ride. Well I had never been in one before... And the boy didn't seem too bad. I could sense he was sincere with his offer, and it didn't look like he was going to push me to the lake or something... So maybe it would be okay...

Before I could answer, Rocky broke free of my hold and ran in circles around the boy. It would be a pain to stop him now, so I just decided to go with the flow. "Yeah, okay," I said. "...what's your name by the way? I'm... Adin."

Whoa, I introduced myself first. That had to be an achievement.

I`m Logan Bellamy. And we better hurry up. It`s almost curfew.


I grabbed the girls hand and ran towards the Canoe Dock. I was smiling like crazy.
She seemed to be enjoying herself. In that way where you just go with it and it turns out amazing.

I can tell we`re going to be friends.

Well that was sudden. I almost jumped out of my skin when Logan grabbed my hand and pulled me to the Canoe Dock. Rocky was behind me the whole time, happily keeping up with us. I was nervous, to say the least. Logan was obviously excited about it. I kinda just went with the flow and tried to enjoy myself a bit. After all, I couldn't remember the last time I really had fun.

When all three of us were in the canoe, I just told myself to relax. It was peaceful here, just floating in the water. Rocky, in contrast to what I had predicted, just stayed still and enjoyed the cold breeze. I wouldn't have to worry about him suddenly rocking the boat, at least. I sighed and just let myself be.

"What time is curfew?" I asked. Funny how I didn't remember someone saying something like that. I must have been dozing off when someone mentioned it.

I drifted off from the rest of my last class. It seemed as if it would never end. I headed for the Lake and just sauntered on the shoreline for...maybe 20 minutes? I didn't quite know the time just looking at the sunset. A few people were in a canoe and I just watched them, lying still in the small boat. Sitting on the sand, I fingered my green ring, just staring off at them.

((OOC: HI! Just popping up here. Charity said I could if that's all right?)

"10:00. The harpys eat straglers or you get cabin inspection duty. It kinda sucks, especially when you're 17 like me"

Zeus, help me. This girl was pretty. With her shoulder length black hair and onyx eyes.
She was skinny under the bulky jacket she was wearing. Although, she puts herself down. She was also very shy and self-concious.

We sat in the middle of the lake with Rocky, who ad his paws on the side of the canoe and was wagging his tail. Rocky was VERY social.

I didn't realize it but I was staring at Adin. I blushed.

After learning of the time, just by the current weather, I headed back to my cabin, Demeter. Walking off quickly, I left the group in the canoe to whatever circumstances that lay ahead of them. Getting up on the porch, I revived a sulking little daisy, and once with full energy, the petals looked shining. Inside, I ignored whoever else that would be inside, changed my clothes, and jumped into my bed. I didn't do much today, so I could just wash off tomorrow.

So Logan was 17. I did the math, and realized that he had been here since he was 10. Then it struck me how long he had been here. Had he been to the outside world much? Or did he stay here the whole year? I wondered what kind of life he must have in this camp. Speaking of life in this camp...

Okay, so if I sneak out after curfew (not that I was planning to), I get eaten by harpies. And I certainly didn't want to get eaten by harpies. I glanced at the time, noticing that it was around fifteen minutes to ten. Out of the corner of my eyes, I saw a girl heading back to the direction of the cabins. I really had to get going now. Honestly, the thought of harpies eating me just scared me to death.

When I looked at Logan, I saw that he was staring at me. And...it wasn't very visible in the night, but... I thought I could see the faint blush on his cheeks. Uh, okay. This completely took me by surprise. I blushed too, but not because of feelings or anything like that! I blushed because it was the first time I caught a boy--a seventeen-year-old boy, mind you--staring at me like that. And it was kinda creepy, to tell you the truth. I needed to get away. Like, now.

"I have to get going," I said. "I... I still have to find the Hermes cabin..." And I didn't want to get eaten by harpies, but it seemed too childish to add that. Come on, Rocky, help me here! However, the dog just remained silent. Oh come on!

Inside the cabin, it had a homey feeling. Sort of. The smell of some of the fruit growing in and out was soothing and was like a silent lullaby. I lay in bed, staring mindlessly at the bottom of the bunk on top of mine. Why couldn't I sleep? The fruity smells would have made me drift off by now. Maybe it was just the weather. or the dreams that came and went. Thirteen years and I've never had any problems sleeping.

"Oh, do you want me to show where the cabin is? I have to walk past it anyway."


She looked creeped out. Was I scaring her. I hope not. I don't like her, she's just pretty.

I rowed the boat back to the dock and helped Adin out. It was dark and chilly outside. Almost snowing. I could always make it but , it takes alot of concentration and energy to make it snow. Frost was nothing, compared to snow, so I frosted up the dock.

Iekka:Still, just lying in bed, I sighed. I did this for a few minutes every minute. I was wide awake. Not sleepy. Not at all. After a while, the person above me said, "Iekka." I knew they wanted me to be quiet. But I couldn't sleep! In frustration, I just jumped out of bed and threw open the door. My siblings were half-asleep, but gasped when I went outside. I don't care if the harpies come out. I sit on the steps of the porch, glancing every now and then at the other cabins. The moon was out but everything still felt wide awake.

"Yeah, okay," I said. I was still lost around these parts, especially in the darkness. And I'd rather not go alone, and the thought of harpies running around after curfew still scared me.

Snow was almost falling. It wasn't enough to make me feel cold, but give it a few days and it will probably be freezing. Looking back at the dock, I realized that it was covered with a bit of frost. I blinked. The snow wasn't cold enough for that yet. Thinking I was probably hallucinating or whatever, I chose to ignore it. I pulled on Rocky's leash, getting him to walk next to us. We started to walk down the path, and I couldn't help but glance at my watch every few seconds. Yep, I was definitely paranoid.

I walked Adin and Rocky home to the Hermes cabin.

"Bye, see ya around." I said the turned and walked off to my cabin, Khione.


OOC: Saph, we gotta make topics at our cabins ...

Iekka: I could hear people. And I thought I was the only one awake. I jumped off the porch and tried to find my way through the dark. I could hear voices at the Hermes cabin. "Who's there?" I tried to whisper as softly as possible. Though, I still wanted to be heard.

"Thanks, Logan," I said, relieved that I was no longer going to be eaten by harpies. Yay me.

I watched Logan walk away before turning to the Hermes cabin. It looked...well, old. It wasn't even like the other cabins there, which had some qualities that didn't make them like summer camp cabins. The Hermes cabin was the most normal-looking of all. As I was about to enter, I heard something, something that sounded like a very soft voice. A feminine voice. I couldn't really understand what she said, and to tell the truth, I didn't know if the voice even belonged to a human. What did harpies sound like anyway?

Rocky started to whimper at the sound of the voice. No, Rocky, not again! Stop squirming! Come on, boy! I thought, not daring to shout the commands because 1) it might wake the other campers up, and 2) if the voice really did belong to the harpy, then my voice might attract the harpy's attention. But sadly, the dog couldn't seem to read my mind and continued to struggle, until he completely broke free. Oh no.

"Rocky!" I almost shouted. The golden had run towards the source of the voice. Cursing under my breath, I ran after my dog, glancing at my watch as I ran. I had five minutes to take control of Rocky and go in the cabin before the harpies come out. Oh crap, did the harpies come out on time or earlier? Just thinking about it made the hair on the back of my head stand.

When I finally caught up to Rocky, I realized that he had reached the source of the voice. I let out a huge sigh of relief when I saw that she wasn't a harpy. The girl looked like she was Logan's age, or maybe a bit older. I couldn't make out most of her appearance due to the dark. Rocky wagged his tail playfully at her and began jumping, wanting to play. Oh, Rocky, if you only knew that your actions could lead us to being eaten by harpies.

"Down, boy!" I told him, but he wouldn't listen. I threw a look at my watch. Four minutes.

"So sorry for this," I told the girl quietly as I reached to pull Rocky away. "Sorry if we bothered you. We'll just be on our way back to the cabin. The harpies will be out soon..." I trailed off, hoping the girl would understand that we had to leave. Like, now.

And Adin is very very paranoid about the harpies attacking.

"Actually, it's three minutes to ten," I said in a low whisper, not nearly audible enough for the girl to hear. Within a few seconds, she bolted back to what I assumed to be the direction of her cabin. Rocky made a move to follow her and I stopped him before he could start dragging me. I pulled on his leash and we ran back towards the Hermes cabin. I glanced at my watch. Two minutes.

I reached the cabin., taking a few seconds to even my breathing. A look at my watch told me it was a minute to ten. With a deep breath, I pushed open the door to the Hermes cabin.

Made it.
