| Rachel Jennings Rachel loved the Forest. It was a wonderful place to stop and think, or to train. The dryads never bothered you, ad the silence wasn't overwhelming. Rachel's favorite pastime was to swing amongst the branches. And there she was, as agile as her feline companion. | |

| Oh how blissfully intriguing the forest truly was. Dense foliage that hid a myriad of creatures, graceful Dryads that tended carefully to the various living creatures under their watchful eye. A truly wonderful place to study, silence, a certain degree of solitude, and best yet! New specimens every other week! Score! Christopher hurried his way along a well traveled path, one that few knew about, but to those who did it proved indispensable. Oh what mysterious creatures would the young son of Athena discover today! Maybe a snake... Or better yet and much more appealing to his nature.. A basilisk! The odds of that were slim but still... A BASILISK!
A thin smirk crossed his lips as he formulated his strategy for dealing with such a dangerous foe. Of course, this concentration was soon interrupted by the girl swinging around. She was strong, and a thick brown pony tail flew through the air behind her. He whistled carefully, clearly loud enough for her to here but still somewhat suppressed. One never knew just what wonders... Or dangers, lurked around the bend.
He propped himself up against a tree and shoved both hands into his pockets. Another teenager was also in the general area, and he seemed to be rifling through a thick stack of cards.
"Nice swinging and err.... Nice cards!"
The thin smirk would mold itself into a charming smile as he extended his hand towards the boy, offering the girl the same hand once she got down from the trees. If she did so, of course.

| Rachel Jennings Rachel almost crashed into the ground, so stunned was she by the appearance of the two boys. She managed to land on her feet and found herself face-to-face with a handsome and muscular boy, about her age. Oh shut up, Rach, she scolded herself. She shook the boy's hand, greeting him with the usual, "Hi I'm Rachel, daughter of Hermes," with an added thank you. She looked around for Amira, a small tabby. | |

| Ohh! Very close, it seems his words had almost caused a rather nasty bump on the head! The girl whom he was talking to had nearly swung herself face first into a tree! However, with a remarkable amount of dexterity and skill, she managed to land elegantly on her feet. A sight that, any normal human would have found extraordinary, for Chris, it was relatively normal, still impressive, but normal.
The girl seemed rather taken aback by Chris, nothing overly dramatic, but this son of Athena was quite proficient at picking up on subtle signs. As they shook hands, the blond demigod brought her palm up to his visage, allowing his lips to brush softly against the back of her hand. He deftly released and smiled slyly. It was an interesting study every time he performed it, typically he found that most women found this action particularly attractive, though he hadn't the faintest idea why. He would need to gather further information on the subject.
"Christopher, Son of Athena."
Surely such behavior would seem extremely unorthodox for a son of Athena, but his thirst for knowledge was so great, that nothing was above his studious gaze. There would be no details that would be ignored, no details that he wouldn't store and use later. Yup... In a past life, he was definitely a squirrel.
The boy's reactions were equally amusing, he was jumpy, quick and alert. He would be a fitting soldier with the proper training, especially with lady luck's watchful eye protecting him. The cards he was once fiddling with were stashed quickly into his pockets... Curious... Chris quickly deduced that they were either valuable personal possessions or something secret, most likely the former. Still, one could never know with the campers that attended this camp, he would have to study further.
"What brings the two of you out here?"
It was a simple question, nevertheless, it would reveal quite a bit about the nature of both individuals. Oh blast it all, the one day he had forgotten his notepad!

| Rachel Jennings Rachel felt a rush of heat in her face and turned away, still looking for Amira. "I came to be alone, swing around, and find my cat," she mumbled. She climbed up a tree and spotted Amira in it's highest branches, strutting along as if she ruled the world. Unfortunately, Amira climbed through a knot hole to get to the top, making it harder for her human companion. "Wait a mo, I got to go get my cat," she told the two boys. She scampered up the tree, dodging weak branches and thorny vines. | |

| Chris always felt a certain degree of satisfaction when his actions caused that certain flush of heat. It would just serve to prove that he had done his research properly. It seemed Rachel couldn't even bear the intense heat of his gaze without blushing or looking away. She mentioned something about having to find her cat... Chris knew that what she said was true, but he also knew that it was partially only said to escape his study. One could tell that the son of Athena was genuinely interested, his trademark smirk had never left his features.
His careful eyes quickly scanned the area, his head almost twitching as it quickly absorb almost every detail of the area around them. Information being processed at inhuman speeds as the cat was spotted in a matter of seconds. However, even Chris wasn't fast enough to spot the kitten before the girl was scrambling up the tree at breakneck speeds. Thorns and branches were dodged with astonishing ease... Chris almost clapped actually.
The boy however... Was a much different story. One glance into his eyes revealed the sheer paranoia in his hues... There was definitely something very off-putting about him... Keeping a straight face, keeping his voice free of certain emotion... T'would truly be a challenge this time around.
Charlies eyes seemed to flutter as he frantically looked for something. Something that, once found seemed to reassure him ever so slightly. Without a second thought Chris traced his briefest of glances, and briskly walked over to where he was sure something was. An odd, misshapen bush... Something that would provoke no second thought other than it looked a little bit like Canada. However, upon closer inspection, it was revealed that there was a strange... Backpack of sorts hidden inside of its depth. His smirk grew wider as it was clear he was beginning to unravel this mystery.
"Why? Are you going somewhere? Charlie?"
A simple comment, but as he gently turned his head to face the other boy, he figured his already panicked manner would sky-rocket. Chris's hand reached deftly into his pocket, wrapping his fingers around the flashlight he carried everywhere. Just a precaution... He thought.

| Rachel Jennings Rachel watched the scene unfold from the top of the tree, Amira curled up in in the crook of the girl's arm. Carefully, she swung down. But she accidentally grabbed a weak branch. Quickly, she put Amira into a hollow, and swung herself onto another branch. But this one was isolated. SHe couldn't go anywhere, save the branch that almost broke. "Hey," she called out. "Can one of you help me up here?" Her hands were becoming blistered, and she was straining to hold her weight. | |

I looked over my shoulder. "Possibly? why do you ask?" I said. Although panic had set in. I had to make sure none showed on my face. I glanced up at the girl. Rachel? i think it was. I sighed. I climbed the tree with ease. I i settled my self on a thick branch arcoss form her and in arms reach of the cat. "Jump ill catch you." I said gently.

| The girl had quickly scrambled up the tree like a trained gibbon. It was quite amusing to watch actually, just how easily she maneuvered past the thorns and picked her branches as if she had been doing this since before she could walk. Her cat was quickly recovered and brought into the safety of her embrace... Which, moments later proved very unsafe. With impeccable reflexes she placed the cat into a rather large niche in the tree and swung herself onto a much stronger branch. There was however, nothing else within jumping distance that was safe... Unless you were a child of Athena of course.
Chris's mind sprung into action, basic trigonometry being used to its fullest extent to calculate the optimal route to the girl. It took but a few moments, and with the math completed, he pounced. Grasping branch after branch he swung himself up, he simply appeared to have no weight. By the route he took, the area that she had managed to get herself stuck in lacked sturdy branches, but that wouldn't stop Chris. He deftly sprung off the tree, rebounding off the nearest tree and shooting himself up. His arms wrapping around the girl as he swept her cleanly off the branch. Landing, with a rather triumphant thud, on the very same branch that the other boy was sitting on.
"8.3 feet... Hardly a suitable falling distance for the catch you were attempting. Approximate damages, twisted ankle, perhaps a fractured wrist."
At this point his voice was almost robotic, a clear insight to just how much information had been processed in his head in such a short period of time. Hazel hues pierced the very soul of the one named Charlie, and Chris made it VERY clear that he didn't trust the boy. It was a silly notion, there was still an abundance of information that would need to be discovered before a proper assessment of his character could be made, still. Something just seemed off, and it was one of those moments where Chris would realize why the human brain so far surpassed even the greatest of man's machines.

| Rachel Jennings Rachel once again was rubescent, especially because she was in the arms of Chris, who most possibly saved her from any major injuries. "Er...Thank you," she mumbled. She climbed back up, this time using strong branches, and retrieved her cat. She returned to the branch the two boys were on, her feline companion asleep in her lap. "Thanks again, for saving me," she said, managing a small smile | |

| Hey skin had very quickly turned a very deep red. A reaction that brought almost ALWAYS brought a smile to Chris's face. As expected, she quickly scrambled back up the tree, retrieving her cat with utmost ease. Her cat now SAFELY in her arms, she returned to the two, her feline companion asleep. She seemed for force a thin smile onto her face as she expressed her gratitude. It was very clear that she was rather shy around Chris, strange that.
"It was my pleasure, Rachel."
The other boy, however, proved much less pleasant. His brow was furrowed in a glare as he attempted to stare daggers into Chris. A ploy was laughably ineffective. Chris rolled his eyes at the boy's next comment, there was simply no truth behind what he was saying.
"Only fools rely on luck, you would do well to remember that."
Charlie jumped straight off the branch with an... Almost embarrassing lack of finesse. In fact, judging from the way he was plummeting he would probably sprain his ankle... However, remarkably, no such thing happened as he landed on what appeared to be a soft spot in the ground. Being the son of the goddess of luck DID have some advantages he supposed.
Chris deftly followed, landing with a graceful tumble that would leave him completely unscathed. The boy issued a challenge, no doubt it was one that would involve gambling. The son of Athena chuckled lightly, there were literally VOLUMES of text that Chris had read all about ensuring a win. It didn't matter that "Luck was on his side" if there was absolutely no chance of him winning.
"Alright, name your game."
OOC: Ugh... I really DON'T like this post, sorry guys >.>

| Rachel Jennings Rachel didn't completly trust either of the boys, but now was more comfortable around them. But she still drew her dagger. She felt like this "game" was NOT going to be pretty. How did it even start? The stupidity of males? Not that Rachel hated them or anything, but sometimes they would do rash things. She stood on the branch, bouncing on the balls of her feet, dagger at hand. She was ready to pounce if things went wrong. So was Amira, amazingly. | |

| The girl's actions were extremely strange to Chris... They obviously hinted to a traumatic past, something he would need to investigate further at a later date. I mean... After all... Not very many people drew daggers at the mention of a card game... For now however, Chris would focus on putting Charlie in his place.
In a blur of motion, Chris snatched the deck from the boy. His fingers rearranging the deck at breakneck speeds as he memorized the exact position of every card. He placed every card in the perfect order so that, no matter what the son of Tyche did, Chris would still end up with the higher hand. Chance was completely taken out of the equation, and the shuffle had occurred so fast that to anybody but Chris, it would have appeared as though it were a perfectly fair deal.
There was, however, an even more interesting step he had taken. Even if Charlie had taken back the deck and reshuffled it, Chris's memorization skills were at a level where he would still know the exact positions of the cards, simply by watching Charlie shuffle. The beauty of this latter trick, is that Charlie had no way knowing how to take the proper precautionary measures against it. If all of THESE tricks had failed, Chris had even hid a select few cards up his sleeve.
A perfect poker face was present on Chris's features as he dealt the cards. Charlie was given a 2 and a 10, while Chris himself was left with a 3 and 8. The next card in the deck was a king. If Charlie took the card, he would lose, if he stood. Well, he would STILL lose. Perfect, eh?

| Rachel Jennings Rachel stifled a laugh. This was going to be a "who's better" game. She felt like saying "Girls, you're both pretty, so let's stop." But she didn't. If this turned into a "who's a better fighter" game, she would need to intervene. So she relaxed and held her dagger aloft. Amira got into a better position to jump from.

I scowled. I pulled the cards back and reshuffled so fast then did an amazing casino shuffle with a new deck i pulled out of my pocket while taking the other deck back. I delt the cards out after shuffling very fast and thourgh and watched the backs. A 6 and 2 had laneded in Chris's lap. I had pulled a 10 and Ace.

| OOC: Even though you meta-gamed.. I'll let it slide. Sorry if you're a tad left out Bly xD
Chris couldn't help but allow a grin to capture his features as Charlie scowled and quickly took back the deck. That brief moment acknowledged that the boy had realized he was clearly out of his league, even as he desperately shuffled a brand new deck and dealt the cards. It truly didn't matter what Charlie drew or did simply because of how prepared Chris truly was. It was also rather amusing that the design of the back of the new deck was exactly the same as the old.
Chris silently picked up the cards he was dealt. He was given a 6 and a 2. Not a bad hand to start with, T'would not make a shred of difference of course as Chris was cheating anyway.
"Hit me."
With a scowl most likely still embedded in his features he would probably give Chris another card. As Chris flipped the card over on the grass, it was revealed to be the ace of spades. His calculative mind had already eliminated every single card that had been placed, two aces, 1 six, 1 ten and a two. The son of Athena currently held cards that amounted to the value of 19. However, that wouldn't remain that way. The smile on Chris's features had widened thoroughly, implying that he had just won. Chris placed the 6 and the 2 face down on the grass. his hand carefully covering the two cards. Chris's eyes were fixated on Charlie, drawing Charlies attention away from his hand. With a simple shake of his wrist, an action that wouldn't be noticed even if Charlie were STARING at Chris's hand... A card, the 4 of clovers, slid down the son of Athena's sleeve and landed atop the 6 and the 2.
Following this bit of dexterity, Chris seemed to simply tap the the grass in front of his cards. The two shot his sleeve, and when Chris revealed his "original" two cards, he had the ace of Spades, the four of clovers and the 6 of spades. The sleight of hand Chris had performed had literally taken less than a second. The entire motion looking no more suspicious than a child strolling down the walkway. Having already done the math, Chris easily deduced that. from the angle that Charlie was sitting at, it was impossible for him to directly notice the sleight of hand.
Chris's facial expression had remained a grin from the moment he was given his next card, implying that it had resulted in a cool, twenty one.
"Twenty one, you lose."
OOC: Eh, it's long and not very well done, but I got my point across rather nicely.

I had glanced up at the cards. 'i lost?' i thought. I thought back. I was still lokking at the 6,2,ace when a card had slid out of Chris's sleeve. then i voiced it "I didnt lose you cheated therefore you lose. besides" I said. I pulled up the four of clubs looking at the back i noticed it was a defferent card."this didnt even come from my deck. You only have 19. I have 21." I said flipped my cards over.

| Rachel Jennings Rachel couldn't suppress her laughter any longer. Leaning against the tree, she threw her head back and let it out. It rang out through the Forest, scaring some animals. "I'm sorry, but I have to say. You two are idiotically funny," she called out breathlessly. Still grinning, she leapt down, and congratulated both. "I feel like this a matter of who's powers are better," she added. Realizing what she just said, she quieted. Amira leapt from branch to branch, fully awake, and landed in Rachel's arms. Her guarded heart had made two new powerful friends, or so it seemed.
