Leaves, trees, and make-believes

He nodded in understanding. People would rather try to have fun and forget for the moment before facing what they knew was coming. He preferred to be prepared but if that was how they did things here he wouldn't complain he would just find out how it worked. "I understand, although I don't exactly agree with that."

Nate smiled at her. He liked how sensible she was almost like a child of Athena. It was relaxing to know that at least one other person could still see the big picture. "Well I will count you on the list of people I should keep in touch with. You know, since everyone needs someone or somebody every once in a while."

"Yes Nate short for Nathaniel." He answered her. To match her question he asked. "And yours was Michiru Kaioh right?" Of course he had already memorized her name but it did help to be polite to others or that was what his mother always told him....no matter what they thought of you.

"That wouldn't be to bad would it?" He asked her with a smile. But he saw his own nature reflected to him in her words. He didn't like being around other people for the same reason she had stated. He preferred to learn about them while giving nothing up but something about this camp was starting to change him already and it didn't seem to be an unwanted change. But his darkness would not let that happen, he knew that.

"We'll see then." Nate said. Just to be random Nate asked "Are you secretly a Mermaid that has to go back to the sea every month to renew her powers?" It was a joke question but it was fun to ask.

He laughed along with her. This was nice to have a chat with someone one-on-one. He disliked groups but with a few people he enjoyed himself. He hoped he could continue this but he knew it probably would not last. Nothing ever did for him anyway. "Well if its precious I won't pry."

Nate always loved to see people smile and it made him happier like when he saw the stars. "You're right i'm not bad at all but i'm not exactly good either." He said This was true he had never gone out of his way to hurt people neither had he ever gone out of his way to help them. "But that eyes are a window thing is a bit cheesy."

"Well i'm not a mouse and not too fond of cheese so I think i'll pass on it for now. But if others such as yourself can experience that then i'm glad." Nate responded. He had given up on stuff like that it just didn't seem like it would happen for him. He was just glad to have other people deal with it as he watched from the sidelines.

"But that's what will make it so much more special. If I have low expectations now it just makes the good surprises that much better." And that pretty much summed up Nate's perspective on live. If you don't expect much from it you can enjoy what you do get from it.

Nate had been called many things in the past and not too many of them nice. It was a good change to hear good things about himself. "Thanks I appreciate the compliment." He said. Stop right now Nathaniel. You are letting your guard down. If you do this you'll betrayed. The voice was nagging again. It was starting to get louder in his head like it always would until he gave in. But right now he didn't want to.

"Well people tend to drift apart if they are far apart from each other. Like that saying goes. 'Long distance relationships don't last'" What Nate said was kind of true but not wanting to just dish on her relationship with whoever it was he added. "But perhaps she's just been busy. Why don't you initiate some form of contact . I am sure she would be happy to her from you. If I had a friend like you I know I would."

"Oh...." was all Nate could think of to say. He wanted to comfort her some how but he was inexperienced with comforting others. He knew what to do but he didn't know what to do. Dealing with other peoples feelings was hard for him. It made his uncomfortable. "But hey you still have the memories of her and that's worth quite a bit."
