I hear him shout something at me, wether it's advice or 'combat abuse' I can't make out. He comes in again, just in time for me to turn round, he catches my sword hard and my swords' flying again, before clanging on the ground.
I don't waste any time though; leaping towards and then grabbing it, before jumping back up. I slow down now, circling him, wanting him to attack me, maybe I'll be better at that.

I clap when she disarms him.Not bad kid.Not bad at all.Maybe the camp did have potebtial.Or maybe thats just me holding onto the last shard of hope I have.I like the first option better.

"Good recovery," Brandon said. "Now, let's test your endurance." He shifted gears, going from his preferred power-heavy style to a more patient form based on stamina. Instead of doling out large, aggressive attacks, his strikes became quicker and weaker, and he made sure any attack Alyssa sent his way was blocked or parried solidly. After a few minutes of this, he asked her if she was tired yet.

I was enjoying watching them spar.He was a good teacher.To check the trainees for endurance in the titan army they put you in a room full of hungry hellhounds and waited till you passed out.I think I prefer his methods better.

He says he's going to test my endurance now, and his attacks become weaker, but faster. I try to get in a few times but he swiftly blocks, parries or dodges out of the way.
"Tired yet?" He asks after what must've been a few minutes.
"No, let's keep it on." I pant, trying hard to keep going.

"That's the spirit." Brandon continued to attack for a couple more minutes, harassing Alyssa with quicker attacks to keep her on the defensive. He noticed that the girl was panting harder and harder.
Now's the time.
Without warning, Brandon gripped his axe tightly with both hands and doled out a pair of heavy power blows--one to Alyssa's sword to knock it away and one to her shield to batter down that arm. Then he aimed a roundhouse kick at his sister's gut--not hard enough to hurt her, but enough to send a clear signal that she was done for this fight.

We carry on for a few more minutes, then with no warning, he smashes my sword arm and I'm disarmed, he goes for my shield arm as well. It hurts like hell, or should I say Underworld now? No time for pondering now though, I snap back to reality, just in time to see his foot coming for my stomach in a round-house kick.
I bring my shield over my stomach and his foot slams straight into it. The impact of it on my already damaged arm is unbearable, and I fall to the ground.

"And this is how we learn around here," Brandon said, his axe turning back into an aerosol can. "It's not easy, it's not fun, it comes fast and hard, but so does your life now. I hope you understand that, because a lot of people don't. I'm not trying to be mean, I'm preparing you for what's to come."

I'm panting hard, I manage to get to a kneel, and unstrap the shield from my wirist, letting ti clatter to the floor.
"Right, sure." I make it to a stand. "So is it just that everyday then? No breaks or bank-holidays?"

"Effectively, yes," Brandon lied. It was not the truth--in fact, many campers messed around, slacked and acted like this was supposed to resemble a normal teenage life. The son of Ares began to lose faith in camp every time he saw those kinds of people.
"This is wartime," he said to no one in particular, just voicing his thoughts. "Like it or not, we're soldiers now, and we have to make sure we're ready when the Titans actually come calling."

"Sorry, you keep talking about the Titans. Aren't they the God's parents? Why are they attacking us?" I put my sword back in the rack, then head back over to Brandon.

"I told you. Kronos ate his children, and the gods broke out. They wanted revenge, and defeated the Titans. Now the Titans are back to overthrow the gods," Brandon explained again.

"Yep.And theyve already set up a whole army.Within it theres no socializing,little freedoms and if they can step on you they will.You dont train hard enough then the hellhounds get a snack.Its cruel but its effective."I said my voice calm but there was a bitternes to it.They had a whole frigin army and we had a group of campers that was getting smaller everyday.

"How do you know so much about their army?" I'm intrigued now. I start unstrapping the armour I had worn for practice, I'm boiling and I don't know I can do this everyday.

"I was part of it since I was twelve.Became an assasin and got good at it.Then they decided I was a rouge assaet and tried to kill me.Now Im here waiting for revenge."I said in a nonchalant voice.My life was preety messed up.Id killed more people when I was fourteen than some campers would in three lifetimes.

Brandon whistled. "You're actually a defector. And you have a body count of humans, not just monsters. Just goes to show how screwed up this whole war is."

I nodded."And to top it off they have modern weapons like guns and missiles.I had a modified MG-42 before they had me hunted and thats wasnt even my best gun.Ive only seen a handful of people here with guns much less military class weapons."I said frowining and trying to ignore the burn of my curse mark.

Brandon's jaw dropped. "No. No freakin' way." When Eliza nodded, he swore and swatted the air. "Man, we're even more screwed than we look. You're right--I know five people who own firearms and I'm one of 'em. There's one rich Zeus guy I can count on for resources, but that's useless if the camp is not of a mind to modernize. You gotta tell Chiron. Now."

"Yeah well, my resource has resources so it works out," Brandon said. "Nice arsenal, by the way. I've got an AR-15, Desert Eagle, M1014 shotgun and a Colt Anaconda. My mom, who's a soldier, gets me ammunition whenever she can."

"So is it like common for us to have guns?" I thought this was greek? The Titans shouldn't be using 21st century equipment. "Will I have to learn to use one as well?" I hope not, the one time I tried, on a field trip, I missed by loads. I'd have no luck.

I shrugged."If you have one use it."I said."Though id be better if everyone at camp could at least have a simple handgun.And it would also be nice if I can tell you were they set up camps and base but my stupid curse aint gonna be lifted anytime soon."I said irritation in my voice.

"When I made a run for it they caught me once.I managed to get way but not before they gave me this."I said pulling up and revealing a tattoish looking thing that covered my left shoulder.It had a center cirlcle wich was blood red and five outer ones wich were black and shaped like omegas."It expands,burns, and makes me want to kill people whenever I give away too much info or when I see lots of pain or fighting or whatever."I said with a frown on my face.

"Wow. Does that suck," Brandon remarked. "Alyssa, I wish it was common for us to have guns. The tables in this war would do a complete one-eighty. But you're right, this is a Greek camp. A bunch of people oppose having guns, which makes them dumb and short-sighted, and a bunch of others are too young or incompetent to use one." He kicked the dirt. "Sometimes, our chances don't look very good."
