| Julie sat in a tree deep in the forest, bored out of her mind. The dryad liked living in the forest, but some days it just seemed like there was nothing to do. Today was one of those days. She needed some thing, new, something exciting. What she really wanted was to meet someone new. The nymph didn't have many demigod friends, so she was always looking for more. Unfortunately, not many campers came into the forest unless they were playing Capture the Flag. Julie wasn't a fan of that game. It involved people chasing each other around and a whole lot of fighting, which just didn't sit right with her.
The dryad was lost in her thoughts, and thus wasn't paying attention to her position on the tree branch. She leaned forward a bit too much, and suddenly fell off the branch, hitting the ground with a loud "Thud!" "Ooooow," the girl said, slowly pushing herself up to a sitting position. Looking herself over, the nymph noticed that she was now covered in dirt and leaves, and had scratches everywhere. "Great," she muttered. Not only was she bored, but now she hurt all over. | |

| Syn hummed softly to herself as she wandered light-footed through the forest. She had been warned not to go in there by herself, but she pretended she hadn't listened. After all, she had been on the run for as long as she could remember, so it shouldn't be that dangerous, right? She sighed, running her fingers along a tree trunk as she carefully stepped over the roots. She knew about the dryads, she had met plenty in her travels, and she was careful not to make them angry. She smiled to herself, listening to the sounds of the birds around her. "Such pretty music" she said, just before they cut out for a second before resuming their song. In that second, she heard a thump to her left, just behind a tree in the midst of a clearing. She wandered over, curious. Knowing no monsters were nearby, she peered around the trunk of a tree to see a girl, whom she recognized as a dryad, sitting below the tree. She was quite dirt, and had scratches down her body. Quickly piecing together what had happened, she stepped out from the tree a bit. "Are you ok?" she asked with her soft voice, smiling kindly and shyly. | |

| Julie jumped as a voice reached her ears. She didn't know that there was anyone else around. Had they seen her fall? The dryad blushed, though the red of her cheeks was covered by the dirt caked on her face. Looking around, she spotted a girl, who looked to be about her age or perhaps older, smiling at her. Realizing what the girl had asked, Julie returned the smile. "I'm fine," she said, trying to push her self into a standing position. She failed as pain shot through her arms and legs, and sat back down quickly, letting her breath out in a hiss. "Okay, maybe not." | |

| Syn stifled a giggle, only smiling in a more relaxed way as she walked out from behind the tree. "Here, let me help you" she said, offering a hand to the dryad. "If you fell from up there, you're not exactly going to be ok" she said, her soft voice kind as she stood in front of her. | |

| This girl, whoever she was, was nice. Julie accepted the offered hand with a smile and quickly muttered "Thanks," standing slowly, wincing with some pain. The girl reached a hand up to her hair and picked out a worm, which had been trying to make her head its new home. Smiling at the tiny creature, the dryad bent down and placed the bug carefully on the ground before straightening back up and staring at the girl who had helped her up. "What're you doing in the forest alone?" she asked. "Aren't you afraid of the monsters?" | |

| Syn watched the girl help the worm, smiling. This is why she like dryads; they were kind, and conscious of other creates and plants 'feelings'. Syn shook her head at the question, her eyes drifting to look at the trees. "I'm not scared of the monsters. Even if they were around, I'd be able to escape before they found me" she said, looking back at the dryad. "I'm Syn, by the way" | |

| It was interesting to meet a girl who seemed completely unafraid of monsters. Julie lived up in a tree, where most monsters couldn't reach her, and even then the fear was always in the back of her mind. The girl's name was also interesting. "Syn?" Julie asked. "Like bad things that people do? That's a weird name." The nymph meant no offense, she was just generally curious about Syn's name. | |

| Syn smiled, and shook her head. "No, its just my nickname. Short for Cinnamon" she said, recognizing no ill-intention behind the Dryads words. "Whats your name?" | |

| "Cinnamon? I like cinnamon, but why name a girl that? Unless you really love baking...but then why not name you Chocolate or something like that? Chocolate's better than Cinnamon..." Julie trailed off, but she knew that unless she were stopped she could keep rambling on forever. Luckily, Syn did stop her by asking her name. "I'm Julie!" the nymph said with a bright smile. Nice to meet you." | |

| Syn laughed, amused by dryad, Julies, rant. "Its nice to meet you too julie" she said cheerfully. "I'm guessing you are quite bored out here" she said, "not many demi-gods come out here, right?" It was obvious she was new to the camp with this question, her innocent ignorance to the 'normal' fear of monsters giving her away. | |

| Syn laughed at Julie rather than telling her to shut up, which the nymph had expected. That was all it took for her to decide that she liked the other girl. When Syn spoke of Julie being bored, the dryad smiled. "Yeah, I get bored a lot," she replied. "Most demigods avoid the forest. Dunno why. I love it here. They don't know what they're missing." | |

| "Most demigods are probably afraid of the monsters....and probably find it too dangerous" Syn said, smiling. "And you're right, they don't know what they're missing out on" she said as she listened once again to the bird calls. "Then again, they probably haven't seen it through our eyes" she said with a grin | |

| "The forest isn't that dangerous!" Julie protested. "I've lived here my whole life and haven't gotten in any serious trouble. Maybe you just have to live in a tree...I do. Have you ever lived in a tree? You should. I'd offer to let you share my room in Micah--he...she? is my tree--but Micah is a bit shy around strangers. We could find you another tree though. A really pretty one..." The dryad trailed off, thinking of all the trees in the forest and trying to think of which one would be best for Syn. | |

| Syn laughed, shaking her head. "Yes I have stayed in a tree, quite a lot actually" she started, smiling. "And I don't know if I'd even be allowed anymore. Not that it'd stop me" she added, chuckling as the cheerful dryad started thinking of suitable homes for her. "And you're right, being in tree's does help keep them away form you" | |

| Julie really liked Syn now. She'd never met any demigods who'd lived in trees. Syn had, which basically made her Julie's new favorite person. "It does! And why wouldn't you be allowed to stay in a tree if you wanted to? That's mean. I think you should stay where you want. Trees are much better then stupid cabins anyway." Julie was just a little offended. What kind of evil people didn't like the idea of living in a tree? | |

| "Yeah, it's for my own safety, and so I can get to know people better" she said, smiling. "But I can do that on my own, and living with the other demigods....well I don't see that working out. I tend to get visitors when I sleep" she said, looking towards the treetops. "I would get yelled at, I think" | |
