| - Spoiler:
"The Commando" Name: Brandon Mathias Age/Birthday: 18. Born January 22. Gender: Male God Parent: Ares Mortal Parent: Sharon Mathias Years in Camp: 3 Brief History: Brandon Mathias was born in Calgary Alberta, after Ares met Sharon Mathias, a Canadian Army corporal. Ellen's frequent field duty made her neglect personal hygiene, and as a result her body odour helped mask Brandon from monsters until age 15. Up until the day hellhounds attacked his home, Brandon had a reasonably good life, playing various sports and practicing martial arts. His athleticism, and his mother, helped him escape to Camp Half-Blood. Physical Appearance: At 6'5", 230 pounds, Brandon Mathias is a broad-shouldered, powerfully built guy with brown hair, a beard and blue eyes. He has ripped arms, strong legs, six-pack abs and chiseled pectorals that come from a lifetime of athleticism and working out, and just being Ares' son. He wears light armour under camouflage jackets and army pants most of the time, with heavy combat boots. Personality: Like most sons of Ares, Brandon loves weapons. However, since his mother was a soldier, Brandon likes firearms and modern war machines far better than blades and chariots. He thinks that Camp Half-Blood should find a way to switch completely to guns loaded with celestial bronze, and begin to use magicked attack helicopters and armoured cars. Brandon has a hot temper and can be stubborn. On the other hand, he is incredibly loyal and will always stand up for his friends and what he believes in, not backing down from monsters, gods or Titans. Excepting Thalia Grace, Brandon dislikes the Hunters for their views against men, but actually shares their desire not to marry, as he views relationships as a liability. Unlike the majority of Ares children, Brandon does not view war as anything glorious or gods forbid, fun. As the son of a soldier, he understands how serious the role of half-bloods really is, and does not get any bloodlust or enjoyment out of an actual battle. His one and only focus is getting the job done so others may live another day. Fatal flaw: Stubbornness. Sometimes anger can blind him from seeing what really needs to be done, but at these times he is hard to talk down. Pets: None Talents: Brandon Mathias has been taught Muay Thai since age 6. Add to that his ample experience with karate, Krav Maga and judo, and you've got a powerful unarmed combatant. He's even better with a sword or axe in his hands, able to hold his own against multiple opponents. He doesn't quite beat Apollo kids when it comes to marksmanship, but is still a good shot with firearms and bows. Brandon's a talented ice hockey player. His physical abilities rival that of professional athletes, and his strength is just about peak human. Furthermore, Brandon is prone to adrenaline rushes that boost his physical abilities to superhuman levels for short periods, and he is resistant to magic. Weapons: Brandon has experience with several types of firearms, but his primary melee weapon is a large saberstaff that collapses into an aerosol can. Brandon also has a two-handed, double-bladed battle axe that turns into a similar aerosol can. Each weapon is suited to a different fighting style of his--he uses the axe when on the offense and the saberstaff when on the defensive or facing multiple opponents. His combat kit also includes a tactical knife, a Kevlar vest and piecemeal bronze armour that is worn under his clothing, giving the impression that he's even more muscular than he really is. Finally, he often employs a magic backpack to put his weapons in. Other: Brandon's family vehicle is a GMC C4500 pickup truck. It is parked at camp, and he uses it whenever necessary.
- Spoiler:
"The Friendly Neighbourhood Sniper" Name: Christopher Talbot Age/Birthday: 17. Born March 10. Gender: Male God Parent: Apollo Mortal Parent: Erin Talbot Years in Camp: 5 Brief History: Chris Talbot was born in New York City, to Apollo and an amateur basketball player. Shortly after his birth, Erin Talbot moved to Toronto in hopes of joining a Canadian league. While his mother pursued her basketball career, Chris however developed an interest in biathlon and hockey, competing in both from age 7 until age 12, when dracanae attacked the hockey rink where he was playing one Friday night. Chris famously hit one of the monsters in the head with a slapshot, saving one of his friends. From there, satyrs quickly converged on the scene and took Chris to Camp Half-Blood. He goes out to visit his now-retired mom whenever possible. Physical Appearance: Despite his mother being a 6'2" basketball player, Chris was never a very tall person, eventually standing an average 5'11". At 175 pounds though, he is well muscled and built lean from intensive regular exercise at camp. Chris has crew-cut blond hair, brown eyes and light skin. His features are sharp, hawkish and could be perceived as handsome. Personality: Chris Talbot is generally a happy, laid-back guy. He does not often get angry, instead looking to try and resolve conflicts among his fellow campers when they arise. Having said that though, Chris is not shy and does make his thoughts heard. His idealism has made him a real voice around camp. But despite everything though, there are times when Chris does not have the tact called for by sensitive situations-he is by nature, somewhat lacking in the area. Fatal flaw: Idealism. Chris' views of the world are at times, too perfect or too impractical. Occasionally he must be reminded that hard sacrifices do need to be made. Pets: None Talents: Chris Talbot is a crack shot with virtually any projectile-guns, bows, darts, basketballs and hockey pucks. He has hit a bulls-eye from over 2 miles away with a scoped rifle, and can launch arrows like a Hunter of Artemis. Chris is also a black belt in karate, good with a sword and knows how to drive both a car and a chariot very well. He is a skilled hockey player, an expert skier and naturally fast. As a son of Apollo, Chris also has burgeoning healing abilities and powers of light. However, he is just learning to heal. His light abilities, on the other hand, have become fairly formidable. He can emit bright rays which could temporarily blind people through sunglasses or even set fire to kindling. If his abilities were further developed, Chris could in theory cause permanent blindness or use his light beams as flamethrowers, igniting things in their path. Weapons: Chris has started to buy into Brandon Mathias' views that Camp Half-Blood should "modernize" it's arsenal, using an MP5K submachine gun loaded with bronze as his primary weapon. Chris also possesses a scoped hunting rifle, a bow and quiver of specialty arrows. When things get up close and personal, he pulls out his twin swords that collapse into their hilts. Other: N/A
- Spoiler:
"The Lone Gunslinger" Name: Samuel Anders Age/Birthday: 16. Born July 4. Gender: Male God Parent: Morpheus Mortal Parent: Carmen Anders Years in Camp: 3 Brief History: Samuel Anders was born on the Fourth of July in Sioux City, Iowa. His mother, Carmen Anders was emotionally devastated by the departure of Morpheus, but she tried to hide it from her son in the form of increased "business trips" and drinking. Left on his own for most of his life with a not-so-responsible babysitter, Sam often took long excursions around his suburb. There he learned street smarts by himself, climbing around playgrounds to increase physical capability, getting into scuffles with other kids and experimenting with minor theft. Finally at age 13, the monsters came for him, breaking into his house and forcing him to run. Sam's experiences came in very handy, allowing him to fend off monsters in unorthodox ways. He hitch-hiked towards New York and braved the mean streets of every city he arrived at. Strange, conflicting dreams tormented Sam every step of the way, causing him to question his own identity and granting him mysterious new abilities. Finally he was found by a satyr in Boston and brought to Camp Half-Blood, but so far nobody has been able to do anything about his memory. Physical Appearance: Sam Anders is a lanky, muscular guy. He stands at 6'1", weighs 174 pounds and is quite ripped. He has dark hair, pale skin and brown eyes that have been described as "an endless, questioning pit." His stare can be very unnerving. Sam prefers clothes that remind him of the street, such as beaten-up old jackets and tattered jeans. He hardly wears the Camp Half-Blood t-shirt on the grounds that it is rather new. Personality: Years on the mean side of society have shaped Sam into a tough, streetwise young man. He does not take nonsense from anyone and is very grounded, always looking for the most practical and straightforward approach. Due to his nightmares, Sam has hardened into an emotional rock, laconic and dark. He doesn't talk too much, and when he does it's in a mutter, not a clear voice. Sam is also completely unsympathetic, somewhat morbid, rather pessimistic and occasionally bipolar. Specific things said under specific circumstances will instantly send him into a rage, during which he is constantly yelling and difficult to reason with. Some people may think that Sam has the potential to betray the gods. However, two things this young man does have are willpower and objectivity. He is not evil, but he can be vigilante. Fatal flaw: Cruelty. Past experiences and abuse have caused Sam to become dark, accepting that life isn't fair and fully willing to have said unfairness happen to others. Sam is calculating to the point where the tough calls aren't so tough for him. Where Percy Jackson would destroy the world to save a friend, Sam would sacrifice millions for the so-called 'greater good.' Pets: Luckily for the animals, no. Talents: Samuel Anders is what teenagers would call a ninja. He has incredible athleticism and is highly skilled in parkour. Samuel can run, jump, vault and swing his way through most suburban areas and obstacle courses with ease. Plus, he is a deadly street fighter, able to take down multiple assailants, and skilled enough with weapons to teach himself a unique and difficult reversed sword grip. In general, he is not to be trifled with, even if there are five of you and one of him. As a son of Morpheus, Sam is able to cause nightmares on sleeping people, cause people to become fatigued and even induce fear in others who are awake. Weapons: Sam wields a Colt Commando carbine loaded with bronze, plus as a pair of stolen SIG P226 handguns, modified by the Hephaestus cabin to fire bronze as well. He also has a pair of curved bronze swords that turn into crowbars. One is four feet long, the other 2.5 feet. Samuel also has a number of combat knives. Other: Sam's motorcycle is a 2008 Honda Fireblade, acquired through a mix of legal and illegal means.
- Spoiler:
"The Generalist" Name: Malcolm Reed Age/Birthday: 20. Born August 9. Gender: Male God Parent: Athena Mortal Parent: Richard Reed Years in Camp: 10 Brief History: Malcolm Reed hails from Glasgow, Scotland, when Athena met military historian Richard Reed. Richard was a wealthy man, and his style of fathering was very academic. Malcolm was well on his way to becoming a bookworm historian just like his father, until the family mansion was besieged by monsters on the night of his tenth birthday. Hellhounds and dracanae overwhelmed the Reed family's private security, but not before Richard snuck Malcolm out of the house under the protection of his butler and one guard. The latter's hygiene problem kept Malcolm hidden from pursuing monsters until they reached Glasgow Airport. There, the butler and the guard were ambushed by an empousa, but Malcolm was found by a disguised satyr and brought stateside to Camp Half-Blood, where he has stayed ever since, leaving his old life behind. Physical Appearance: Malcolm stands 6'0" and weighs 188 pounds. He has slick, longish blond hair, gray eyes that do not betray any emotion and a decent-looking face. He is built like a runner, limber and moderately muscular. Malcolm is almost always wearing semi-formal clothing, such as a dress shirt and slacks, unless on a quest or in battle. Personality: Malcolm Reed is a know-it-all. He's loved research and learning new things since early childhood, and upon coming to Camp Half-Blood has amassed a broad general knowledge of anything from dinosaurs to airplanes to geography. If he was raised by his father his whole life, Malcolm would surely have become a pure academic, but being at Camp Half-Blood has shaped him into an athletic, practical man as well. Malcolm is brutally honest and sports a perpetually cool demeanor--he hardly ever gets emotional or angry. While this helps him remain calm in stressful situations, it also makes him much less sensitive to the feelings of others. In short, although Malcolm is okay with social situations, he is not really a 'people' person. Fatal flaw: Hubris. Like many children of Athena, Malcolm sometimes believes he is capable of improbable things. His normally rational and logical thought processes can be skewed by deadly pride on occasion. Pets: None. Talents: Malcolm Reed is a top-notch strategist, capable of analyzing any given combat scenario and producing a solid plan of action. These skills also make him exceptional at chess, checkers, backgammon and similar strategy games. Malcolm is also a skilled judo practitioner, experienced with melee weapons (especially the spear), a well-rounded athlete and decent with missile weapons. Weapons: Malcolm has a chess knight that turns into a bronze spear, a king that produces a short sword, and a rook that doubles as a shield. He also wields a Mossberg 500 shotgun that fires bronze. Other: Malcolm drives an Audi A6 whenever he needs to leave camp.
- Spoiler:
"The Willis Tower" Name: Jerrod Willis Age/Birthday: 19. Born October 31. Gender: Male God Parent: Hermes Mortal Parent: Susan Willis Years in Camp: 9. Brief History: Jerrod Willis was born in Chicago to Susan Willis, a lower middle-class mom. Susan was a bike courier by day, a gas station attendant by night and occasionally a waitress in order to support herself and her eventual two sons (Jerrod's brother Jeremy was born 4 years after him). Due to poor financial conditions, Jerrod and Jeremy were forced to endure substandard living conditions in their early childhood. Things got worse when Jerrod was 10, as the family was attacked by a Cyclops in an alley. This coincided with a mugging attempt by two gangsters, adding to the chaos. Susan sacrificed herself to buy time so her two sons could escape, and it was incredibly lucky for them a satyr happened to be nearby. Jerrod has never really gotten over the death of his mother but has coped remarkably well. Physical Appearance: Jerrod's most striking physical attribute is his stature, which has led his brother to nickname him "The Willis Tower" after Chicago's tallest building. At 6'6", he looks down at most other people, and his long, lanky build makes him seem even taller than he is. Weighing 180 pounds, Jerrod does have some muscle on him, but he is generally quite lean and underweight for his height. Jerrod has longish brown hair styled in a mullet. He has a handsome face, and his soft hazel eyes are generally liked by girls. Personality: In stark contrast to the stereotype of a tall, athletic guy, Jerrod is quiet, easygoing and calm. He speaks in a slightly softer voice than most other people, and is a man of few words. Despite being a son of Hermes, Jerrod despises the idea of stealing and has never done it. He has a firm moral code, but his passive nature can make him seem like a bit of a pushover, and often it also prevents him from asserting himself effectively (ironic considering his stature). Jerrod is a real gentle giant, liking to avoid confrontation (though he will fight when necessary and does accept sparring challenges from others with a little prodding). He loves nature and animals, and sits outside his cabin staring at the stars for an hour every night. Jerrod likes to go with the flow and blend into the background, but his good looks betray him in that area by attracting girls. Which is all the worse, because when relationships are involved, Jerrod is incredibly shy. Fatal flaw: Jerrod's haunted past has left a subdued though permanent scar in his mind. This prevents him from being as emotionally strong as he could, and when under extreme duress, he might crumble. Pets: A small gecko named George. Talents: Just like a son of Hermes should be, Jerrod Willis is a jack of all trades. He is a decent swordfighter, has experience with martial arts, a good basketball player, an adequate mechanic and average with projectile weapons. One of his largest talents is fencing. His long reach is a definite plus, and ability to strike with speed and precision are excellent. Jerrod wholly incorporates fencing into his sword style, keeping enemies at bay and exploiting the smallest chinks in their defenses. Finally, Jerrod is amazingly agile, sneaky and light on his feet for such a tall guy, which makes him a skilled thief, though he never steals. Weapons: Jerrod has a bronze rapier and a bronze saber that both turn into lapel pins. He uses the rapier to fence and the saber for more conventional strikes. Jerrod has a magicked duffel bag that stores all his personal belongings. He's also acquired a MAC-10 machine pistol modified to fire bronze by the Hephaestus smiths, but he gives this to his brother Jeremy every other day. Other: When he has a moment to himself, Jerrod will quietly repeat his mother's name over and over, while stroking his pet gecko, George.
- Spoiler:
"The Handsome Ne'er-do-well" Name: Jeremy Willis Age/Birthday: 15. Born November 9. Gender: Male God Parent: Hermes Mortal Parent: Susan Willis Years in Camp: 9 Brief History: Like his brother Jerrod, four years his senior, Jeremy Willis was born in the Windy City to a lower-middle class mom, Susan Willis. Jeremy endured a poor lifestyle up until age 6, but got along admirably. When the family was attacked by a Cyclops and muggers simultaneously, it was Jeremy who stole one of the muggers' machine pistols. After being relocated to Camp Half-Blood, he has recovered from his mother's death better than his brother and is now a confident teen. Physical Appearance: At 5'8", Jeremy is a full ten inches shorter than Jerrod, very strange considering they are brothers. He is also rather light, at 134 pounds. Built like a gymnast, Jeremy is thin, lithe and flexible, with light muscle and very little fat on his frame. Jeremy's eyes are a piercing green that seems to demand attention by itself, unlike Jerrod's hazel irises. The two brothers both have longish brown hair, but Jeremy has dyed his darker than Jerrod. He has pale skin, a soft mouth and a very handsome face. Personality: Jeremy's personality is the polar opposite of his brother's. Where Jerrod is quiet and passive, Jeremy is loud and fun-loving. He is mischievous and loves to prank his fellow campers, as well as steal their belongings just to prove he can. He is charming, and flirts with girls all the time. Jeremy is also very much the ne'er-do-well, taking daredevil risks and bending the rules for fun on a regular basis. Despite this, he is not a bad kid and is quite sincere deep down-that core is simply surrounded by a carefree and attention-seeking shell. Fatal flaw: Irresponsibility. Jeremy has a hard time knowing when to quit his pranks and take things seriously, which can lead to unfortunate accidents and arguments with those around him. Pets: None. Talents: Jeremy can do everything from boosting cars to cheating at cards. He seems to be naturally lucky, almost always winning at games of chance. He is trained in swordfighting, hand-to-hand combat, is a skilled knife thrower and a swift runner, but his largest talent is agility. Jeremy is nearly a world class gymnast, able to vault, swing, leap and contort his body with the best of them. He can land on his feet like a cat and is extremely stealthy, making him an exceptional thief. Weapons: Jeremy has a magic lapel pin that produces a three-foot sword, but his favourite weapons are his ten loaded die. When the word gambit is uttered and combined with a conscious thought from Jeremy, any die in his hands will turn into daggers. Jeremy can either throw the daggers with great precision or use them in close combat. When the word gambit is uttered a second time, the daggers will revert to die, and any misplaced die will roll back to Jeremy if he is less than 30 feet away. Last, Jeremy shares a MAC-10 machine pistol with his brother. Other: The Willis brothers' car is a 2010 Honda Civic. It's legally owned by Jerrod, but Jeremy likes to take it for a spin.
- Spoiler:
"Thunder Hawk" Name: Magnus Starkweather Age/Birthday: 18. Born May 30. Gender: Male God Parent: Zeus Mortal Parent: Rachel Starkweather Years in Camp: 4 Brief History: Magnus Starkweather was born on Memorial Day in Houston. His mother, Rachel, attracted Zeus by being a strong-willed Cabinet member and a board member of Xe LLC, a private military company. She used her political knowledge and ambition to construct a solid reputation for herself and rise through the ranks, becoming Secretary of Defense when Magnus was only three. Due to this, Magnus himself has a few connections within the American military-industrial complex. Rachel's salary afforded herself and her son a luxurious and safe lifestyle on the outskirts of Houston. Even when the Starkweather mansion was attacked by multiple giants and hellhounds, security personnel from Xe ensured that Rachel survived and Magnus was kept away from danger. During the bedlam, Magnus was separated from his bodyguards and was forced to flee into the city, where he was found by a satyr and brought to camp. Physical Appearance: Magnus Starkweather is 6'3", 245 pounds and built like an NFL linebacker, with broad shoulders, a thick body, ripped arms, big abs and powerful legs. He has a bit of a large belly, like many football players. However he is actually able to sprint quite well. Magnus has brown eyes, a cleft chin, a large nose and somewhat chunky facial features. His brown hair is often gelled so it's spiky. He likes to wear biker or military-style outfits. Personality: Magnus is a loud, outgoing, headstrong man. He likes being the centre of attention, though he would never get that attention by committing any type of criminal activity. In fact, Magnus has strong ideals of morality and does not hesitate to uphold them. On the flip side, he can be very hardheaded. His loud, fast-paced lifestyle makes him less sensitive to emotions and other people's feelings. Magnus also has an arrogant streak that comes and goes. He tends to think of himself as Mr. Big Shot and others as merely his equals, occasionally lower. He hates losing and will break rules to get something done in a way he believes is more practical and effective. Despite all of that though, Magnus can be a loyal friend and never backs down from doing the right thing in the end. Fatal flaw: Pride. Magnus can get full of himself, and when he does, it's hard for him to admit his own faults or that his way is not the best way. Pets: None Talents: Magnus' control over lightning has become very powerful. The intensity of his bolts vary from knocking a person out to blowing a hole in a reinforced concrete wall. He can also sustain bursts of fork lightning that chain off conductive materials that they hit. On the other hand, Magnus' wind manipulation abilities are mediocre at best, and he has very little control over weather. He has also received extensive military training, being able to identify and use a wide variety of firearms, pilot helicopters and form tactically sound methods of combat. Magnus is a formidable mixed martial artist and swordsman, able to fend off multiple opponents. He has been using a classified drug developed by the upper echelons of Xe LLC to amplify his already exceptional physical abilities to near-superhuman levels. Weapons: Magnus has a large stash of firearms, but most of them are back at his mansion in New York. His melee weapons are a pair of double-bladed hand axes that turn into keychains, and two tactical knives. Magnus also uses a large bronze shield from time to time. Other: When not at camp, Magnus operates as the costumed vigilante "Thunder Hawk." His costume is a US Army Combat Uniform painted with a lightning colour scheme, a military helmet, wraparound sunglasses and a black balaclava. Magnus' armour kit, consisting of both a Kevlar vest and bronze plates, can be worn underneath his costume or underneath normal clothing.

| "The Lion" Name: Harold Jackman Age/Birthday: 18. Born August 30. Gender: Male God Parent: Hephaestus Mortal Parent: Ann Jackman Years in Camp: 7 Brief History: Harold "Hal" Jackman was born to Hephaestus and Ann Jackman, an aircraft mechanic from Houston Texas. For the first few years, Ann did well in her career and provided a good life for herself and her son. She was thrilled at his natural aptitude for all things mechanical, and loved teaching him basic things about fixing machines. Unfortunately, she was laid off during a company downsizing when Hal was eight. Ann's new job, a garage attendant, paid much less than her old occupation. Mother and son moved from a comfortable townhome into a small one-bedroom apartment, but Ann always remained upbeat for her son's sake. They got by for three more years. At age 11, Hal was taken from school by a satyr named Carey Morten, who sought to get him to Camp Half-Blood. After multiple close calls, their luck ran out in New York--Carey sacrificed himself while distracting three empousai. Luckily, Hal was brought to camp by another nearby satyr. He has remained there ever since, making short trips into the city whenever safe to do so. Ann is still alive but is too poor to leave Houston. Physical Appearance: Hal Jackman is fairly big, at 6'4" and 210 pounds. He has more lean muscle and less fat than other large guys, making him more cut than someone like Brandon Mathias for example. Hal's nickname, the Lion, comes from his mane of long, curly, dirty blond hair. This unruly coif, coupled with a crooked nose, two missing teeth and a bruise over the left eye (all sustained during workshop accidents) gives the impression that Hal is a stereotypical brawn-over-brains jock. That is, unless he has to prepare for a formal event. Put some powder on, conceal the bruise, straighten and trim the hair, and the guy can look decently handsome. This combined with his chiseled body results in someone who could legitimately pose for Calvin Klein, though Hal would much rather appear as his casual self. Personality: Do not judge a book by it's cover. Hal may not typically look like a gentleman, but he is no meathead. This son of Hephaestus is friendly, humourous and outgoing--unlike some siblings he has no major problem dealing with other people. His hustle, determination and tireless work ethic are his strongest points--the fact that he never complains, does more than his share and never stops until the job is done well is inspiring to those around him. It can even become a rallying point during hard times. Since Hal loves to build, he is quite sentimental and wishes everything around him could be permanent--buildings, creations, friends, relationships. He's also modest, not wanting any glory or fame. He simply takes quiet pride in helping others. Fatal flaw: First off, Hal can potentially work himself too hard. If a major problem arises, he takes it upon his own shoulders to fix that problem, and may not realize that every one person has their limits. Also, he has a hard time letting go of things such as an old home, a treasured gadget, or a friend, even if that friend was really an acquaintance. Hal tries admirably to remain objective, and intellectually he knows that war means destruction and loss, but it is still an emotional roadblock that can cause him to think irrationally. Pets: He's befriended a camp pegasus named Luigi. Talents: Hal's nickname also derives from his fast and ferocious fighting style--his build allows for remarkable speed without sacrificing much strength. The one minor drawback of his body is actually his relative lack of fat compared to other guys his size--this gives him slightly less of a cushion to withstand blunt trauma when set against people like Magnus Starkweather and Brandon Mathias. Hal is an accomplished combatant, armed and unarmed, being well versed in mixed martial arts and swordsmanship. He is equally comfortable fighting up close or at a distance, with swiftness or muscle. In addition, Hal is a master of fire--his clothes and body are immune to heat, and he can project tongues of flame with his hands. He can melt iron and even steel with this power, though this is very taxing on him. Weapons: Hal's primary ranged weapon is a customized crossbow with a scope. The crossbow has a special mechanism that snaps the bowstring back into place after every pull of the trigger, allowing for an increased rate of fire. Hal has normal, explosive and grappling hook bolts at his disposal. His other weapons are a halberd, scimitar and a pair of knives--all of these collapse into their hilts for convenience. He possesses a sawn-off Remington shotgun as well. Other: Hal's latest journey into New York has been delayed by a number of unfortunate circumstances. He is currently missing from camp. *I.E. Admins, that means he is a dormant character. I'll bring him in when another of my characters dies or leaves.*

| Nice character! He's a little powerful though, so maybe take away one or two of his talents? :]
Also, guns aren't really allowed at camp because they're kind of unfair, so please remove that as well. |

| No guns? That's certainly not in the posted rules, and I've never heard that from Breeze, Dan or anybody else. Besides, we're referring to a camp with magic allowed in it. If magic can be here, why not guns? Also, this is not the only character in the forum who possesses a firearm.

| It's more of an unspoken rule then, and I know that I always enforce it. Guns aren't necessarily fair, bullets fly faster than blades, after all, and that makes all the difference in a setting like this where most characters use traditional weapons like swords and spears or just plain brute strength.
Magic is allowed because that is the way this it was written in the books and because there are people who can form resistance and develop immunity to magic. |

| If "fairness" is an issue, I can simply not use guns against other characters--I don't do that anyway. Plus, the presence of guns in CHB has been established in The Lost Hero. There is a canonical base for them now--I would not have brought them in if that were not the case.
Having said that, though, I am not here to argue and break rules. If you insist, I will comply. However, I would appreciate it if this rule is officially posted, to make it clear. | |

| Ah no, it's alright now, the only issue would be if you intended for your character to use the gun against another camper in a duel. Otherwise, it's perfectly fine.
Accepted! |

Power: 9/10 Speed: 6.5/10 Endurance: 9.5/10 Defense: 8/10 Skill: 8.5/10 Special Abilities: Resistance to Magic, Blessing of Ares (whenever Brandon is under significant danger, he may experience an adrenaline rush that surrounds him with a flickering red aura. His physical attributes are temporarily boosted to peak human/superhuman levels) Description: Brandon's preferred M.O is an aggressive, power-heavy style that makes full use of his natural strength and the heavy war axe that is his primary weapon. However, he can adapt to a more patient, defensive style that relies on his exceptional stamina to outlast opponents. As the son of Ares and a Canadian soldier, Brandon has received extensive training in armed and unarmed combat techniques--his primary weakness is agility. Chris Talbot- Spoiler:
Power: 6.5/10 Speed: 9/10 Endurance: 6.5/10 Defense: 7/10 Skill: 8.5/10 Special Abilities: Light Manipulation (Chris can project rays of visible light from his hands. The brightness and intensity of these rays vary from an average torch to a blinding magnesium searchlight to powerful sunbeams capable of melting monsters and igniting flammable materials. The latter is extremely taxing) Description: Chris is built for speed. What he lacks in muscle he makes up for with his blazing reflexes and excellent hand-eye coordination. Wielding dual swords, he is capable of outmaneuvering many opponents, finding holes in their defense. Like all children of Apollo, Chris' skill is mainly with ranged weapons--his melee ability is solid but not exceptional. Despite his athleticism, his fast and energetic fighting style tends to tire him out.
Samuel Anders - Spoiler:
Power: 7.5/10 Speed: 8.5/10 Endurance: 8/10 Defense: 6.5/10 Skill: 9.5/10 Special Abilities: Mental Projection, Empathy, Induction of Sleep (Samuel is capable of mentally causing other people to feel fatigue and fall asleep, as well as induce temporary irrational fear in them. He can also show others his own memories by transferring them as dreams) Description: Samuel is a well-balanced fighting machine. He has solid athletic statistics across the board, and these are bolstered to greatness by his skill. The son of Morpheus is not only excellent at parkour, he has an immense natural aptitude for combat that has been honed well by intense training. Samuel is formidable in battle--his one real weakness is that his tenacious, ferocious fighting style leaves mediocre room for defense. However, most opponents will be too busy struggling to defend themselves to exploit any mistakes Samuel could make. Malcolm Reed- Spoiler:
Power: 7/10 Speed: 7/10 Endurance: 9/10 Defense: 9.5/10 Skill: 9/10 Special Abilities: None Description: Malcolm can hit fairly hard and move decently fast, but he much prefers to use cunning in battle. His fighting style is centered around a rock-solid defense that relies heavily on shield use. The source of Malcolm's remarkable stamina comes not so much from athleticism as it does from technique. The son of Athena looks to conserve as much energy as possible during any brawl with precise parries, well-timed dodges and subtle redirections that deflect the force of an enemy's attack rather than absorb it head on. The main drawback to this conservative, analytical style is lack of aggression. Most of the time, Malcolm has no problem holding his own, but he has difficulty applying pressure upon skilled opponents because he keeps waiting for them to come to him and make the first mistake. Jerrod Willis- Spoiler:
Power: 6.5/10 Speed: 9/10 Endurance: 8/10 Defense: 8.5/10 Skill: 8/10 Special Abilities: None Description: Despite his stature, Jerrod's relatively thin build does not afford him much strength. However, he has remarkable speed and agility for his size, able to maneuver like a gymnast much smaller than himself. This son of Hermes has great fencing skill--he uses his reach in conjunction with quick, precise strikes with his favoured rapier to keep enemies at bay and poke holes in their guard. As a matter of fact, Jerrod's greatest weakness in battle is a psychological one--he is peaceful and likes to avoid confrontation. This personality trait often downplays his practical fighting ability. Jeremy Willis- Spoiler:
Power: 4/10 Speed: 9.5/10 Endurance: 3/10 Defense: 6/10 Skill: 6.5/10 Special Abilities: Dice Recall (Jeremy's many knives turn into magic dice that return to him from up to 30 feet away when he says the word 'gambit') Description: The very skinny, almost frail Jeremy possesses poor physical strength and endurance. On the other hand, his speed and agility are just about prodigious. He is able to traverse terrain with simian grace, land on the balls of his feet like a cat, and dance circles around most opponents. However, just like his brother Jerrod, Jeremy's weakness is in the mind. His hyperactive, devil-may-care personality has caused him to skimp on his training and develop a sense of overconfidence during combat. Magnus Starkweather- Spoiler:
Power: 9.5/10 Speed: 6/10 Endurance: 9/10 Defense: 7/10 Skill: 9/10 Special Abilities: Electric Manipulation (Magnus can fire lightning bolts of varying intensity from his hands) Description: To the untrained eye, Magnus is a carbon copy of his good friend Brandon when it comes to fighting. Both are big, quite slow and very strong. Indeed, there are only subtle differences between their combat styles. The son of Zeus has slightly superior strength, but unlike his Ares counterpart, he is too hotheaded to adopt the endurance-based style his friend has mastered (despite being physically capable of it). Thus, there can be holes in Magnus' defense, though he makes up for this with many years of elite training. Hal Jackman- Spoiler:
Power: 8/10 Speed: 7.5/10 Endurance: 8.5/10 Defense: 7/10 Skill: 6.5/10 Special Abilities: Pyrokinesis (Hal can project flames of varying intensity from his hands) Description: Hal's nickname, the Lion, sums up his fighting abilities quite nicely. The usually even-tempered son of Hephaestus is ferocious in battle, using a very solid combination of speed, strength and athleticism to defeat enemies. Hal is a well-rounded combatant, able to adapt his style to face different kinds of foes. His primary weakness is a relative lack of proper training, as he tends to spend most of his time in the forges. Hal is much more a brawler than a swordsman or martial artist, although his natural combat aptitude, physical attributes and flame powers are generally enough to carry the day. Grayson Starkweather- Spoiler:
Power: 6/10 Speed: 9/10 Endurance: 7/10 Defense: 6/10 Skill: 8/10 Special Abilities: Abnormally Healthy Metabolism Description: Despite being a pacifist, Grayson has received considerable combat training. He is well versed in mixed martial arts, and his marksmanship rivals that of the average Apollo kid. Grayson's fighting style is much like that of Chris Talbot--he likes to use his speed and agility to outmaneuver his opponents. Interestingly, Grayson has slightly superior stamina when compared to Chris despite their similar fighting styles and levels of athleticism--this may be due to his abnormal metabolism. Also like Chris, Grayson's main weakness is a relative lack of physical strength.

| No actually. I have a friend who is, but I'm just a bit of a theoretical gun geek. | |

| Character Theme Songs: Brandon Mathias: "Diamond Eyes"--ShinedownBrandon is a soldier first and foremost. In his opinion, duty is more important than anything else--fun, fame or romance. The lyrics of this song (such as "I'm on the front line, don't worry I'll be fine") depict Brandon's bravery and valour. He is a loyal trooper and he'll lay down his life for the safety of others in a heartbeat. Samuel Anders: "Half the Man"--ThresholdSam is not a fan of conversation, so an instrumental piece suits him well. This track starts out slow and suspenseful, representing Sam's relatively dark personality and hard past, before rising to a pulse-pounding climax to show this young man's bottled ferocity and rage that is unleashed in battle. Chris Talbot: "It's My Life"--Bon JoviChris knows that he won't live forever, so he's out to make his time on Earth matter to his friends, peers and to society. He is quite practical and open-minded, excited to see where life will take him and what he'll be able to do there. Malcolm Reed: "Ready Aurora"--Tom SaltaMalcolm is a pure intellectual. He lives to amass knowledge, theoretical and practical. This Scottish demigod looks at everything from a logical, rational standpoint. He acts more like an android than a man, with a usually limited emotional range, so this instrumental track fits him because it too does not change in tone. Jerrod Willis: "Praan"--Garry SchymanJerrod may be six foot six, but he's quiet and reserved. The lanky son of Hermes loves nothing more than reading by himself, enjoying nature and generally being solitary. The tone of this track fits his personality well. Jeremy Willis: "Shake It"--Metro StationIn stark contrast to his brother, Jeremy is a party animal. He loves to hang out and make friends, and shows surprising stamina for his slight frame during social events. He's also a flirt and thinks about romance quite a lot, as shown by some of the song lyrics. But most of all, Jeremy lives to have fun. Magnus Starkweather: "Snow's Theme"--Final Fantasy XIII SoundtrackMagnus is all about being cool. He's a proud, pure-blooded American from a rich family, and he's proud of that, sometimes to the point of arrogance. On one level, Magnus is a dedicated soldier like Brandon, but the son of Zeus can be less disciplined than his Ares friend. Magnus places extra emphasis on being rad, and this electric guitar ensemble is every bit as hardcore as he is. Hal Jackman: "Burn For You"--TobyMacHal may look like a redneck and be able to control fire, but he is actually laid-back and friendly. The tone of this song fits his generally chill personality while still showing his discipline and willingness to get the job done at personal cost. Hal's inner fire is brightest when he is creating things that will hopefully last many years, and it will never stop burning. Grayson Starkweather: "Fireflies"--Owl City Grayson is a kind and intelligent young man, but he does love to dream whenever he has a moment to himself. His mind just enters it's own little realm, thinking of random and abstract things that sometimes form into coherent ideas, which Grayson writes down. This song captures the mood of such dreaming very well.

| "The Drifter" Name: Grayson Starkweather Age/Birthday: 16. Born January 3. Gender: Male God Parent: AetherMortal Parent: Nicole Starkweather Years in Camp: 2 Brief History: Grayson Starkweather was born in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories to Nicole Starkweather, a traveling businesswoman, and Aether, the god of the upper sky. Grayson only stayed in Yellowknife for a few months before he and his mother returned to Houston, Texas. Nicole was the younger sister of Rachel Starkweather, making Grayson the cousin of Magnus Starkweather, son of Zeus. Grayson and Magnus became friends, although their relationship was tentative considering their vastly different personalities. Magnus was the first one to go to Camp Half-Blood--Grayson followed 2 years later when he and his mother were attacked on a back road by harpies. Nicole survived with grievous injuries, while Grayson was rescued by a satyr. Physical Appearance: At 5'9" and 146 pounds, Grayson Starkweather is an average-sized teenager. He is wiry but fit, with defined muscles and a six-pack, though he lacks the sheer muscle mass of his cousin Magnus. With light brown hair, soft blue-grey eyes, rounded features and a fair complexion, Grayson is quite handsome and attractive to girls. He prefers casual clothing with light colours, but is not very picky about what he wears. Personality: Grayson is a laid-back and easygoing guy. He rarely, if ever complains, and is content to drift and see where life takes him. He is typically calm, soft-spoken and kind, ready with a smile and a nice word to cheer up the people around him. Being the son of Aether, it makes sense for Grayson to have his head in the clouds. Indeed, he is a real dreamer when he has a moment to himself, and is often stuck in his own little world. At times like these, Grayson exhibits an almost childlike innocence, and while he isn't stupid, he's not exactly grounded. Fatal flaw: Being the dreamer and the drifter that he is, Grayson has a problem asserting himself with force. He is not dumb, nor is he shy, but he decides to let things work themselves out most of the time, optimistically thinking that things will turn out fine. This can be a significant problem when a situation calls for swift and decisive action. Grayson is occasionally blind to the fact that sometimes, everything will not be alright--however, spending time with the practical and action-oriented Magnus is starting to turn this around. Pets: Most animals tend to like him. Talents: Because he has spent so much time in contact with the soldier background of Magnus, Grayson has learned quite a few things about fighting. He has received a moderate amount of training in mixed martial arts, and has learned the arts of parkour. Grayson is a more accurate shot than Magnus and far more agile. He is also stronger than he looks. In addition to combat skills, Grayson has a talented singing voice and can play the guitar with skill. Weapons: Grayson possesses a standard-issue bronze sword, a longbow and a utility knife. He may obtain other weapons at need. Other: Grayson has an abnormally healthy metabolism. It is almost like he is breathing purer air than what others breathe, but he has hardly ever caught a cold before. It is highly improbable that he will contract an environmental illness such as cancer, but he is not immune to serious pathogens that spread by transmission. Provided nothing severe happens, Grayson is destined to life a very long life. *Dormant at the moment* | |

| I can see that, but I said *dormant* for a reason. If he gets accepted, I plan to make another character of mine inactive so I can fit this guy in. | |
