| I lay on a dead strawberry patch, a soft wind billowing through my dark chocolate colored hair. My pajama bottoms followed suit. As always, my liquid-like eyes were an inch from closing. A soft snore escaped from my lips, jolting me awake from being half-asleep. I rubbed my eyes, and shook my head so that I was fully awake. I blinked a few times, and looked around. Getting up slowly and brushing my self off, I grabbed the soft pillow I had and fluffed it a couple times. I hated pillows that were so flat that it felt like there was nothing in them.
This time I sat down on the pillow, and brought out the branch of the poplar tree that was dipped in the River Lethe; the gift from my father. I looked at it long and hard, like I did for the good majority of the time when I wasn't sleeping. I still had to figure out what it did, and I still wanted to. I lay back, exasperated once more, forgetting that my pillow was under me. I knocked my head against a large root. "Argh." I mumbled, rubbing the back of my head. "Stupid root." I scolded it, knowing that a dryad would probably be very annoyed if it heard me talk about the root like that.
I looked up at the sky, the clouds churning like a hurricane or a whirlpool - I wondered if we would have a storm come or something. I loved storms; it gave me an actual good excuse to stay inside my cabin and sleep the entire day. I heard a crackle of a dead strawberry plant, and jolted up, feeling dizzy as the impact of the root coming back do me. My eyes focused on the figure of another demigod. "Oh, hey Melinda." I greeted her softly, rubbing my eyes once again. I quickly tucked the poplar branch into my pajama pants pocket once more.

"Hey." I replied, plopping down a little way off from him. Figures he'd been napping, being a son of Hypnos and all. What was I even doing here? Surrounded by dead plants, I should be off helping in the battle. I should be there, surrounded by friends and family, supporting them. So, what was holding me back?
"You catching up on your beauty sleep?" I asked, grinning. Plucking a ripe little strawberry from a patch next to the one we were on, I stared at it for a while before throwing it lightly at his head.
(( LOLSHORTPOST. Don't kill me pl0x. ))) |

| Dylan Durbee
I enter the strawberry fields, bringing cold wind along with me. I knew it was aggravating to other people, it whipped their hair and tossed things into their eyes, but the wind was my friend. It never did anything to harm me, and all that time I thought it was just luck.
Nope. There's no such thing as luck. If their was, than Marisa wouldn't be gone. Ugh! Stupid Fates! That was exactly why I wasn't fighting in the battle. I would surely kill myself, feeling no real reason to live. What I really needed was friends, which was why I decided to talk to the complete strangers sitting not too far away.
"Hey!" I yell, my voice being carried by the wind, and bouncing off of the strawberry plants. It was quite amazing to hear, like a thousand echos magnified a thousand times. "I'm Dylan Durbee!" I found it strange when people said their god parent, I preferred my last name. They would probably figure out my parent soon enough.

| All the way on the other side of the fields, I was slowly tromping my way to the other side where all the light was. Today was eh, a little on the cold side. My iPod was on, and the earbuds in my ears, blasting Misery Business by Paramore. "Who-oa! I never meant to brag/But I've got him where I want him now!" I yell the lyrics along with Hayley Williams' voice. Soon I was upon the other side, and I saw my spot. But there was people already there. Even better! More people to share it with. I pause my music and walk up to them. I sit next to the boy who looked sleepy. "Hi!" | |

| The strawberry smacked onto my head and rolled off. I smiled sleepily. "Let's say, metaphorically, I threw that back at you, to save from me attempting to do it. I'm too tired." I told Mel, yawning. "And yes, like I always am. Isn't that a surprise?" I chuckled softly, drowsiness still apparent in my voice.
I look up, a vague and dormant look in my eyes as I spot the guy who introduced himself as Dylan. "Hey Dylan, I'm Jason, nice to meet--" I broke off as my eyelids closed and a light snore departs from my lips, but then I was painfully jolted awake as the bite of the cold wind stung my skin. "Argh, that's freezing." I mumbled coherently enough for the others to hear. I looked up at Dylan, realization dawning in my eyes. I raised my eyebrows. "Just tell me who your God parent is so I don't have to guess... but I do have a pretty good idea." I groaned. I hated the cold, but Dylan seemed alright. But the cold part... eh, not so much. It's almost as bad as loudness.
Speaking of which, I turned to Kaitlin, and cringed. I narrowed my warm brown eyes; I felt some sort of power transferring from me to Kaitlin - which made me even more exhausted. It took all I had to not lose consciousness right then and there. "Just a thing about me, I hate loudness." I yawned and tried to clear my now ringing ears.

| I blush. "Oh. Sorry, Jason. I didn't know you guys were gonna be here, y'know?" I look at the other girl, and the boy who introduced himself as Dylan. "I'm Kaitlin." | |

| I grinned sleepily. "S'ok." I mumbled softly, my quiet voice somehow ringing out in the deserted field. I cautiously brought out the poplar tree branch, and spun it over in my fingers. I felt a strange power coming out of it, but was aggravated once more when I didn't know what it was, and felt that it made me even more drowsy. I looked with dazed eyes at the others. "Any of you know what the heck this should be for?" I inquired, lifting the branch up. Exasperated, I said quietly, "For the Olympians sake, do something." It was then that the tip of the branch - the side dipped in the River Lethe - began to glow faintly. A huge wave of drowsiness hit me and I keeled over immediately onto my pillow, snoring softly. As the glow faded away, I jolted up.
It felt like an alarm was ringing inside my head. "Hurmph... where's the snooze button?" I mumbled, probably sounding very intelligent.
~ Basically the poplar branch should make everyone feel sleepy. XD Anyway, let's continue with the order... Crispy goes next, then Nico, then Alex.

| "I'm Melinda." I introduced myself, chucking another strawberry at Jason. Watching as he brought out some tree branch, I looked at it curiously before blinking when it began to glow. I felt kind of... sleepy. "Right now sheems like a good time for... a little.. shleep." I said in a way that kind of made me seem drunk, holding up an index finger before crashing on the pile of dead strawberries and leaves. |

| I remember this one! I'm the only one who still has this character though. Is there much point bringing it back? Maybe we could use different characters.
Looking at Jason, I raise an eyebrow. Ugh, I really hated saying my god parent. Sure, Dad was great and all, but who had raised me? My dead mother. Well, I guess I really raised myself, but at least my mother didn't leave the family until her tragic death. While that was a suicide, it was NOT her fault.
"My father is Boreas . . ." I mumble, letting the wind drift off. Now I am extremely hot, so I take off my jacket, revealing my muscular arms. An entire life full of hard labor really gave you a workout. "But my mother is Hailey Durbee. Either way, I don't care for either of them. Both of them abandoned me, leaving Marisa in my arms. And now . . . Well . . . Marisa was all I had. Having her dead is like having a piece of me gone." I realize I'm probably saying too much, so I shut my mouth.
I was getting way to soft. I remember Sparta, and decide I need to be strong. Telling myself there will be punishment if I show weakness, I shrug. I am practically saying: Yeah. My mom and sister died. My dad is a god who never sees me. You think I care? Psh, no.
Sitting down, I look up at the others. They were all demigods, obviously, and none of them looked alike. I hadn't exactly been paying attention when they introduced themselves, so I didn't know their god parents, but I had taken the time to learn their names. Each face was permanently embedded in my brain, and I wasn't forgetting them any time soon. Plus, I needed all the friends I could get. Spending so much time alone was wearing me down, and forcing me to get . . . strange. I couldn't explain it, but it was obvious something was happening to me. Maybe these guys could become my friends. Maybe . . .
