After Curfew Party

I ignored Bellinda's greeting, and Colby ran over to me, looking up at me, she stated blabbering off. I nodded, not really listening, I rink some more coke.

I clenched my fists at the word 'accident'. I scoffed with disdain, averting my gaze. "Believe me...it wasn't an accident.." I muttered, remembering that day.
I sat on the beach with my bother. My hair wasn't like what it was now. It was long, curly and brown. But my eyes were still the same shade of purple. I looked to be about six or seven, maybe a little younger. My mother stood beside me, looking rather irritated. She was never really a great mother... I turned, asking her a question. "Mommy, can't I go in the water?" I whined. She clenched her fists. That was the third time I had asked that question. "No," she said rather briskly. I whined, burying one of my hands in the sand. "But I wanna swim," I said, looking up at her with pleading eyes. The beach was just about empty, since it was early in the morning. Something happened in my mother that I just couldn't explain. For moments later she stood up and grabbed me by the neck. She trudged towards the water, walking until she was knee deep. I kicked and yelled as she dragged me along, all the while my mouth filling with water. "Shut up!" she snapped. She then grabbed the back of my head, shoving my under the water. It was murky and dark and the thick liquid muffled my screams. I kicked and kicked, filling as it got harder for my to breath. My lungs started to fill with water. I hoped that maybe my mom would bring me up soon...that she'd stop pushing on my head to keep me under. But that didn't happen. If it wasn't for the lifeguard that had heard the kicking I would have drowned. He ran over to me, helping my to cough up the water. I watched as my mother was taken away in hand cuffs...screaming and yelling that it was my fault. That it was all my fault...
I shook my head, feeling a shudder run up my spine as I recalled the reason for my fear.

I saw her shake her head, and I shuddered a bit as well. Something bad had happened. Something really bad. I could always tell when I tried to read the memories. I opened my mouth to say something, but nothing came out.

I noticed him shudder and I frowned, quickly turning my gaze to his. "You better not be able to read thoughts.." I said through a clenched jaw.

I shook my head, biting my lip. "No..." I said, thinking about it. It was eating away at me. I had to know what happened.

I gave a nod of my head. "Good...let's keep it that way," I said simply. I then turned, noticing Likos and his Nyx friend. What was her name? Cody? No....well it started with a C at least... I sighed, rubbing my fingers through my hair before turning back to Daemon. I took a gulp of my wine before speaking. "And what about you Mr. "Son of Fear itself". You got any irrational phobias or fears or whatever?" I asked, arching an eyebrow.

I thought for a moment. "Nothing to fear but fear itself." I laughed a bit, and grinned.

I heard her question and laughed, But Colby just looked confused, then shruged, "What are you laughing at?" My sister asked.

I snorted, shaking my head. "That's just overused enough to be cliché..." I said with a grin. I got tired of standing and took a seat in the sand. I leaned back on my hands, staring at the dancing fire light. "You want to know what happened don't you.." I said simply. It was more of a statement than anything.

I looked away, sitting next to her. I didn't say anything, but I could obviously tell that she knew the answer was yes.

I didn't hear an answer so I looked over at him. I sighed, nodding my head slowly. "My mom...she was just slightly past insane. She had anger management issues, she was irrational. She just had a lot of problems. One day, while we were at the beach, she got a little too angry. She grabbed me by the neck and pulled me to the water. She pushed me under the water and tried to drown me.." my voice trailed away as I took a sudden interest in the golden sand. "I've been afraid to get submerged in water ever since.." I added softly.

"Wow..." I said, a depressing tone of sadness in my voice. "I'm er...sorry," I said, not able to look at her.

I turned to him, punching him in the arm probably harder than I intended. "Don't tell anyone, you got it?" I said, narrowing my eyes.

I was egre to her the story also. But apperntly Colby didn't have anything better to do, She grabbed my wrist and dragged me towards some random people to talk, I still heard her story, I frowned. Not the best history. I didn't have much of a history.

I nodded. "I promise I won't." I thought for a minute. Wait...why am I being so...good? Should I be teasing and tormenting her with this knowledge? But for some reason... I just couldn't.

I studied him curiously and for some reason, this time, I believed him. I simply nodded my head, keeping my gaze on him. "Thanks.." I said. A small smile flickered across my face, which was a rare occasion for me. I ran my fingers through my purple and crimson dyed bangs, laying down on my back and staring up at the stars. I folded my arms behind my head with a sigh. "You know...you're not that bad, kid.." I said, glancing over at him a moment.

"Really?" I asked, almost surprised. I stared up at the stars, still propped up on my arms. "Alot of people hate me just because I know what they're afraid of. It's not like I'm...a bad person..." I said, biting my lip, and glancing over out of the corner of my eye.

I snorted, nodding my head. "A lot of people hate me because apparently I'm a pushy, violent, brutally honest drunk. Although that's not correct. Wine doesn't make me drunk.." I said with a crooked grin.

I frowned, and turned towards Likos, "Are you listening?" I asked him, He shurged and walked off toward the food, again. I stuck my tounge out at him, and wondered around and sat in the sand bored. MAybe someone will talk to me. I thought.

I turned my head towards him, looking at him curiously with my vibrant purple gaze. My eyes softened a bit as a faint smile flickered across my face. "...Thanks," I said simply. It was all I was able to say at this point. I kept my gaze on him a moment before turning it back to the sky. "Just...don't get used to these mushy moments okay?" I said, trying to get rid of this odd, warm feeling on my skin. ....I didn't like it...

I chuckled, taking another long drink of wine. "No need to worry..." I said, letting out a long yawn. I feel back in the sand. I had this weird sensation in my stomach. I believe they call these 'butterflies'. It was unusual, and I hated it.

I noticed Likos's friend was no longer with Likos and I frowned, sitting up. Then where was he? I glanced around, trying to located the big oaf. "Hey Likos! Here boy!" I called with a whistle, hoping to get his attention.
