| I walk into the Amphitheater knowing that I haven't been here in a while. I take a deep breath and start to play Elphaba's part in Defying Gravity from the Musical: Wicked. But I don't want it - No - I can't want it Anymore:
Something has changed within me Something is not the same I'm through with playing by the rules Of someone else's game Too late for second-guessing Too late to go back to sleep It's time to trust my instincts Close my eyes: and leap!
It's time to try Defying gravity I think I'll try Defying gravity And you can't pull me down! OOC: If you don't know what comes next here are the lyrics. |

| I wander into the amphitheater, wondering what the large stage is used for, but that question is soon answered for me as I step in and hear a voice singing. I smile, recognizing the song from a Play I had seen before, a sort of spin off from the Wizard of Oz.
"Can't I make you understand? You're having delusions of grandeur."
I step forward so the girl can see me, smiling. My natural girlish voice that came from my petite figure matched the part of Glenda perfectly. I figured the girl would continue, so I stopped myself from greeting her properly.

| I turn and see someone continuing the song with Glinda's part. I flash her a huge smile.
I'm through accepting limits ''cause someone says they're so Some things I cannot change But till I try, I'll never know! Too long I've been afraid of Losing love I guess I've lost Well, if that's love It comes at much too high a cost! I'd sooner buy Defying gravity Kiss me goodbye I'm defying gravity And you can't pull me down
"Glinda, come with me. Think of what we could do, together." I speak still in my character.

| I listened as the girl sang her part. She was rather good and I could see Captain sitting in the corner, his ears perked upright, obviously agreeing with the compliments in my thoughts. Hearing my cue I put in an effort to stifle my giggles, but my smile was obviously heard as I replied with my part.
"If we work in tandem.
There's no fight we cannot win. Just you and I Defying gravity With you and I Defying gravity."
I smiled, shocked to myself that our voices actually matched well in harmony. I hadn't sang much in the past, unless showers counted, and I definitely never thought of a career as an actress. I just knew the play by heart.

| I turn to the girl once more and walk to her standing right next to her so the our voices could be blended better. They'll never bring us down!
"Well? Are you coming?" I say in an enthusiastic voice. |

| I was getting better at falling into character now, probably because my partner was doing so well.
"I hope you're happy, now that you're choosing this."
I nodded to her, my voice slightly quieter and my face looking solemn.

| "You too," I speak still in character. "You're doing great," I mouth to my partner. I hope it brings you bliss I really hope you get it And you don't live to regret it I hope you're happy in the end I hope you're happy, my friend:
So if you care to find me Look to the western sky! As someone told me lately: "Ev'ryone deserves the chance to fly!" And if I'm flying solo At least I'm flying free To those who'd ground me Take a message back from me Tell them how I am Defying gravity I'm flying high Defying gravity And soon I'll match them in renown And nobody in all of Oz No Wizard that there is or was Is ever gonna bring me down! |

| "I hope you're happy!"
I spoke more excitedly this time. It was a help as I interpreted my partner's mouthed words. I mouthed "thanks" back to her with a smile. This was actually fun.

| "Bring me down!" I speak as Elphaba. I smile widely knowing that we're doing well. |

| I turn my head to look at the girl, my smile wide. I know that my part has come to an end, and the song is basically over, other than a few lines performed by the Citizens of Oz, minor extras if the girl was actually thinking about putting her own production into play. "You're fantastic!" I exclaim to her, immediately jumping out of my character, Glinda. "Have you done this before?" My words were enthusiastic, which shocked even myself. I loved musicals and the theater, but I wasn't one of those major big time fans or anything, I assumed the opposite was true for her. Unlike me, I figured she might have even gone through some kind of coaching. | |

| I turn to my partner, "No actually," I admit, "I've never really been on stage." I say breathing heavily. Defying Gravity was one of my favorite songs and for a first time, I think me and the girl next to were amazing, "But thanks, you were pretty amazing too." I walk to the nearby seat where I set my waterbottle down. I pick it up and take a gigantic gulp. "How about you?" I ask, "You ever join theatre?" |

| My eyes widened a bit in surprise. I had been so sure she had done this before. Natural talent. I felt a pang of jealousy at her perfection, but then that thought quickly left me as I spotted Captain hop towards us at the seats. Smiling down at him as he told me his praise, I shook my head towards the girl. "No, never." A memory surfaced in my thoughts and a light blush accompanied my smile. "I actually auditioned once for a play at school. The Sound of Music. But I didn't even make it to the callbacks." My head turned slightly away, figuring it wasn't really needed for me to mention that I couldn't even get past my first line. I wasn't a very good performer, mainly because the thought of everyone's eyes on me terrified me. | |

| I study her face closely. It was hard to believe that she didn't have any experience. She was wonderful as Glinda. Being a daughter of Apollo, God of Music, etc. I understood that I didn't really have any experience in musicals and acting. Well, except being in a band, but never broadway. Oh no, if my friends found out that I was so into broadway, I'd be made fun of. I contemplate over the thought. "Did you ever want to be in a production?" I ask her with an innocent smile. |

| "Oh, are you going to put this whole production into play?" I smile at her with interest, but at her offer the corners of my mouth slightly turned down. "I really would, but I couldn't." I shook my head honestly. I knew what would happen if people were watching me. It wasn't so bad playing along with her, seeing as we were both singing together, and there wasn't an audience, but if there was...I figured it best not to think about it too much. "But I'd be happy to help you out some other way." I nodded my head enthusiastically, thinking of what I could possibly do. "Stage work? Make-up? Costumes?" I threw the ideas out to her, hoping my rejection to be in the play hadn't hurt her feelings. I could hear Captain down at my feet, calling me a chicken, nudging me to just accept her offer. | |

| I think over her suggestions, bit I didn't really want to do a play. I wasn't never good in front of crowds. Fifth grade, production of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Worst moment of my life. I played Mama Bear and I threw up on Papa Bear. Yeah, it wasn't a pretty sight. "Actually, the only thing I need help with is a singing partner." I smile enthusiastically. "You and I have amazing chemistry, unlike anyone I've ever practiced with before." |

| I watched the girl hopefully as she thought, but as soon as I heard her words a slight frown appeared on my face. My hand abesent mindedly flew to my hair, ruffling it a bit, and slid down my face for my finger to rest on my chin, thinking. "How many people usually come to these productions?" I said cautiously. I didn't want to disappoint her, and I had to admit we were good together. But whether I could do that again was a whole different story, and in front of people was hardly even possible. "You know," I drew in a deep breath, ready to confess, "I actually have a minor case of stage fright." An embarrassed smile appeared on my face, and it wasn't a mild case at all, it was a rather awful case of stage fright. | |

| I smile eagerly as soon as I told her my proposal. I have minor case of stage fright, she said. I my eyes widened a little bit, "It's okay so do I!" I yell out, "It's not like I wanted to perform in front of people, u-unless you wanted to." I ramble on. "I was thinking about you and I just singing for fun." |

| My eyes lit up with hope. Not performing? No audience? That was the best thing someone could tell me at the moment. Though I was utterly shocked to hear that she too was afraid of performing in front of an audience. "That's great!" I said with enthusiasm, though once I thought about it, I shook my head with a small laugh. "No, no. Not that you have stage fright, but that it can just be the two of us. No people watching." I smiled, my words were speeding up as I spoke. "I'd definitely be willing to just do this for fun." Nodding, I wondered if I'd even be able to do that again. It had sort of been a bit of a one time deal, a spur of the moment action. "You know what, through all of this planning, I didn't even get your name. I'm Whisper." I held out my hand to shake. | |

| I shake her hand, "I'm Laila." I say smiling. I let go of her hand and squeal with excitement. "I know I've probably said this before but you're so much more amazing than all of the singing partners I've ever had." I tell her honestly, "They just lack the passion and talent that you possessed when we performed." I jump up and down. 'I have a whole lot songs in my repertoire that we can start off on." |

| I grinned at her, unused to the flattery and the compliment. I couldn't help thinking though that if I had been her best partner than she couldn't have had a talented bunch. And I wasn't one for a serious case of self consciousness, I just knew my talents and singing had definitely never been one, but then again, maybe the tides had changed. "Oh, thank you! You were so great too. I heard your voice, and that's what drew me into the amphitheater in the first place." Smiling, I nod my head. More songs, awesome. I only hoped they were ones I already knew, for I had no clue on how to read music and I felt as if my confidence was heightened if I knew the piece already. | |

| My smile became wider. "Here," I lead, "Sit down. I want you to hear this." I lead her to a nearby chair. |
