Making a Friend, or maybe.. an Enemy? [ p r i v a t e ]

With a neutral expression on my face, I sat down in one of the empty seats at the Amphitheater and crossed my arms. Why had I come here? I seemed to forget reasons like this rather often. Grimacing slightly, I looked around and tried to figure out my reasons.

I yawned, waking up from a slight nap I had taken in an empty seat. Looking a few seats down I saw a girl. Bored, and feeling a bit restless after my nap, I stretched out, and melted into the shadows. Shadow traveling was much easier than walking, and I could use it, so what the heck? Materializing down, a few seats left of her, I yawned once more. "Hey," I mumbled so she could hear me.

"WHOA!" I said, jumping up and stumbling back a bit, raising my arms and waving them around a little bit to emphasize the guy who came into my line of sight. "You were not there five seconds ago." I said, still a bit surprised. Then I realized that I was about an inch away from a spider web. Equipped with a fresh looking, huge spider. Screaming, I ran back forward and ducked behind the new guy. "GODS. I HATE BUGS. IS IT STILL THERE?! DON'T JUST SIT THERE, PROTECT ME!"

I laughed. "It's just a spider," I said, stepping forward a bit and putting it into the palm of my hand, throwing across the amphitheater. "There," I said, turning around to face her.

"Spiders are evil." I said, sticking my tongue out at it as it soared through the air. "Melinda Larkin, daughter of Aphrodite. I uh, don't react well to bugs." I said, ruffling my hair a little bit and smiling sheepishly.

"I can tell," I said, laughing a bit. "I'm Adam Dunlap, son of Hades," I added. "That could explain me coming from nowhere."

"Ah, shadow traveling." I said, before squinting at him. "Hey, you're cabin leader aren't you? Belated congrats on that." I said, grinning before looking at the stage thoughtfully. "I wonder if children of Aphrodite have some special elite way of travelling, like you know 'Follow the Love' or something."

I laughed a bit more, shrugging. "Maybe," I said, jokingly. "But yes, I'm cabin leader," I said, nodding politely.

"Let me try." I said, turning and fixing the stage with a look. I concentrated and kept staring for a while. "It's not working. You go to the stage, because you so obviously love me already, and then sent that love in my direction so I can go." I said, poking Adam.

"Fine, fine," I said, rolling my eyes a bit and melting into the shadows. A few second later I came out onto the stage. Giving a thumbs up, I yelled, "Give it all you've got!" and stifled a laugh.

"Okay!" I said enthusiastically, giving him a thumbs up as well before staring determinedly at the stage once more. Staring until my eyes watered, I blinked and wiped at them before calling to Adam. "It's not working! Guess there's no such thing as love travel." I said, laughing.

I laughed. "Okay, I think I'l leave!" I said, jokingly, and began walking towards the exit.

"What, you don't want to take part in my scientific adventures?" I asked, raising an eyebrow and smiling. "You're missing out here, man, when I'm rich and famous for creating teleportation and hoverboards, you'll be wishing you hadn't left."

I laughed. "Fine, fine, I guess I'll stay here!" I said, shadow traveling back to her side.

Nodding my head, I crossed my arms. "Darn right you will." I said, chuckling.

"Right, right," I said, rolling my eyes jokingly.

"So. You got any hobbies?" I asked, raising one of my eyebrows once more.

"Hm..." I shrugged. "Can't really think of anything at the moment."

"Huh. I like riding my motorcycle," I said, grinning. "and playing video games. You play any video games?"

"Of course!" I said, laughing a bit. "Who doesn't? Well, ok, some people don't, but whatever."

"Most of my sisters don't." I said, smiling before plunking into a seat. "What did I come here for again?" I mumbled to myself, looking around again.

I laughed, seating myself in the one next to her. "Most of your sister's are stuck-up. All of the makeup probably their brains beyond acting pretty and flirting," I pointed out.

"They're still my sisters, so I would appreciate it if you didn't talk about them that way." I said sharply, glancing at him before looking away. "It isn't true anyways. Most of my siblings are actually decent people, I wish people would stop with the stereotypes." I said a bit softer.

I raised an eyebrow. "Sorry..." I muttered. "Most of the ones I know are like that...Although I did...haha....date an Aphrodite girl before."

"Oh." I said, understanding immediately. That's why he had such a poor opinion on my sisters. "Did she break your heart?" I asked sympathetically.
