Camp Half Blood is the sister site of Camp Jupiter.
Marissa sat at the base of the tree. She wanted to stay close to the entrance, she'd heard about some attacks in the woods. Her fingers closed around the dagger at her waist. Removing it from its sheath, she began to whittle a branch. It quickly became a small flute. The daughter of Athena never really understood how she was able to create things like that. They just sort of- happened! "Carter... bro? You here yet?" She called out to her half-sibling, who was supposed to be here ten minutes ago.

Carter walked quickly to where he was supposed to meet his half sister. He readjusted his belt which held his heavy old sword and a sack holding a small notebook and a pen. He wanted to learn everything there was to know about these woods. Unfortunately everything included the monsters, which was obviously dangerous. When he finally found Marissa, he said, "Sorry I took so long. I needed a new notebook and there was a line and my sword was giving me trouble..."

Marissa grinned. Her brother was such a nerd. "No worries, it's cool. C'mon, let's go." She tucked the wooden flute in her bag. Slinging the bag over her shoulder, she grabbed her half-brother's hand. "MYSTERY HUNT! MYSTERY HUNT!" They walked deep into the forest. Marissa was petting a squirrel when she jumped at a rustling in a nearby bush.

As they walked deeper into the woods, Carter unsheathed his sword. As much as he hated it and it caused him trouble, he still used it because his father gave it to him. If he hadn't, Carter would have gotten a new weapon by now. He noticed Marissa petting a squirrel and paused, looking at her with confusion and worry. "You shouldn't pet squirrels, Marissa," Carter stated. "What if it has rabies?"

Marissa got up. "Calm down, bro. I'm like 70% sure it doesn't have rabies." She stuck her tongue out. She did stop petting it, however. "So... what do we do now?" Giving a lazy grin, she walked ahead of him, and deeper into the woods.

"Uh, well the basic plan is to explore the woods and possibly find trouble," Carter said matter-o-factly. It was true that he didn't really plan but he always had the same basic idea every time he went snooping around the woods. He knew that basically looking for bad situations, but he didn't really care if he got to learn something new. And hey, he brought along a sister for backup, so he was probably going to be okay.

The girl's grin faltered a little. "Why did you even ask me to come along? I mean, we don't know each other that well. I'm not smart like our other siblings..." Marissa frowned. She'd always felt a little inadequate compared to other Athena kids, and now there was Carter. She wished she could be as curious and intelligent. As a nervous habit, she started fiddling with some nearby items. She looked down at her hands, and saw that she'd made a tiny wooden statue. She tucked it in her bag, where it made a loud knocking against the flute she'd made previously

"Unlike almost every one of our siblings... I can't fight. I've had to train with an Aphrodite kid because I can't get the hang of it. I knew you were good with your hands and probably better at fighting than me. 'You should always swim with a buddy', right? That's the right reference, right? Ugh, I don't know. What I mean is, I couldn't come out here alone with these monsters and and you seemed a little upset when it came to the smart stuff, so I thought maybe our inadequacies could help each other," Carter sighed. He hated to admit he couldn't use his sword well. He was a son of the goddess of war after all!

She rolled her eyes. "Well, I'm okay at fighting, I suppose." Her fingers traveled to the dagyer hanging from her belt, and the bow and arrows strapped to her back. "Maybe it'd be more entertaining if a monster actually showed up..." She never thought she'd get used to siblings, but she was starting to warm up to her dorky half-brother.

"Don't jinx it," Carter teased, readjusting his hold on his sword so that he could take his notebook out. He opened up to the page with the map of the woods and deciphered about where they were. "We should be coming up to Eros Creek soon," Carter stated looking up from his notebook to see a hell hound barreling at them. "I told you not to jinx it!" Carter cried, dropping his notebook.

Marissa didn't really understand what happened next. She instinctively drew her dagger, and leapt forward, under the monster, driving the silver blade into the hellhound's chest. She rolled over, and sat there on the ground, breathing heavily. "Whoa. Where'd that come from?" She suddenly felt a sudden pain in her leg. It must have scratched her. She dug a piece of ambrosia from her bag and bit into it. It tasted like the cupcakes at the little shop her father used to bring her to. She closed her eyes and smiled.

Carter stood shocked as Marissa took down the hell hound, which turned into gold dust. He quickly ran over to his half sister. "Are you alright? It scratched you, so you're only a little okay," Carter rambled, panicked. If she got hurt it would be all his fault, and he couldn't stand that.

Marissa shrugged off her jacket. She carefully tore a piece of fabric off and tied it around her leg. "Calm down, I'm fine. It's just a scratch." She tried to put on a brave face, even yhough it still hurt. "Come on, Carter. What are we looking for?" Getting up, the daughter of Athena clung to a tree branch for support.

"Maybe we should go back, and get your leg looked at. We can come back some other time," Carter said, looking like he wanted to help but was unsure how. "I thought we'd look around for any signs of the monster that killed that Cabin Leader, but I don't think we should try to do anything like that when you're hurt," he explained. He knew it was a bad idea but he was so curious, he's never been able to suppress his need to know, know know. He knew it would end up getting him killed one day.
