Light In the Arena (Autumn) Empty
PostSubject: Light In the Arena (Autumn)    Light In the Arena (Autumn) I_icon_minitimeWed Jul 30, 2014 7:26 pm

After waking up in the camp for the first time, Light struggled at finding somewhere he could go without being ridiculed by others for the way he looked. It's not everyday some tall, white haired loner with a crescent on his forehead is found at the entrance to camp. He had yet to find an explanation for the light, and the baton he had on him, that had no importance to him currently. He had an urge to fight however, and so after countless hours of walking, Light found himself in the arena. Archery targets on one side, dummy's on another, and naturally, he found himself in front of a dummy, and with anger boiling up, began taking off his gloves and punching the dummy repeatedly, and with each punch, light burst out the other side in a beam. The light itself built up and the dummy's head flew off and bounced around the arena to the feet of a girl, and instantly, Light's 'Lone Wolf' attitude kicked in as he turned to her and stared.

Adelaide felt something at her feet, but she kicked it away without even a glance. She was too far into attacking the burlap sack full of chicken feathers with her sword. She had already pulverized three of the sacks with her sword. However, a daughter of Ares never settled for "good enough." She needed practice--she wanted practice. The ability to destroy gave her a feeling of satisfaction that nothing else could. She wanted to feel powerful, like the entire world was beneath her feet.

Of course, she would never be that guy. You know, the guy who takes over everything so he could feel some kind of power. She was no Lord Voldemort. Adelaide simply liked knowing that she could really injure someone if she pleased. It was odd, but the trait was commonly found in Ares children.

In her peripheral vision, she could see somebody standing. This was no surprise, as the arena was often full of people standing, but the figure had been faced towards her for some time now, so she ceased slashing the sack and let her sword clatter to the ground. She grabbed her sweat rag and wiped her face, taking a swig from her water bottle as well.

Although she was definitely not much to look at, Adelaide teased the boy staring at her. "You like what you see?" she asked with a wink. Then, too soon, she added, "Kidding. I'm Adelaide, daughter of Ares."

Light was rather irritated when he noticed the girl kick the dummy head away from the two of them without her seemingly noticing it. She was obviously consumed by the slashing and hacking that all kids at this camp apparently loved. After a while, the girl finally saw and teased her, causing his crescent, as well as fists, to flare up and dim down while he put his gloves back on and zipped up his assassins jacket he was so fond of.

Eventually, he decided to pay the girl a bit more attention, not that it mattered to him, "Well I would love to hear more about your life story but you just kicked my training partner" He said nonchalantly, as if it was his daily life. Light realized how odd it was to refer to a dummy as a 'training partner' but he obviously had to make a first impression, being the newbie on the block. "Light Akerman... Son of I don't know.." He shrugged, keeping his distance from the girl who thought she was obviously intimidating... Not so much.

"Are you gonna pass me the dummy head or not? Or did you not hear me" The sudden burst of confidence from an Anti-Social practical psychopath was odd. A feeling filled his very being, and he felt the baton he kept strapped to his back vibrating, but that's not right... He shook it off, thinking that he was only imagining things, but so far tons of tragic things had occurred to in his presence, the girl wasn't exactly one of them... Yet.

Adelaide walked over and picked up the dummy head from where she had kicked it. She tossed the head over to Light. "So you haven't been claimed?" she asked. "Let me tell you it's not as glorious as it seems. It was confusing to me, because..." her voice trailed off, remembering the attack on her intermediate school before she had come to camp.

Everyone else had seen it as a shooting. She was almost admitted to the mental hospital for telling everyone how she had seen the monsters rip the students' throats out. During the attack, when she was hiding in the broom closet, a flaming sword had appeared over her head. She was afraid that it meant they were coming to get to her next.

It was a wonder she escaped alive.

Quickly concealing her vulnerability, Adelaide pushed aside the memory and put on her signature smirk. "But hopefully your claiming will be cooler than mine. Who knows, maybe you're, like, the son of Zeus or something."

Light was taken back by her being nice, even if she didn't notice it. He put up a gloved hand to catch the dummy head and put it on top of the now decapitated doll, not knowing how he should re-attach it, but until then, it would do to keep it there. Light didn't think much off her sudden change in moods, noticing what looked like sadness before the smirk. "I don't think I will be a Son of Zeus... If you missed it... " He winced and pointed at the mark on his forehead, which had been a part of him forever.

With a shrug, Light began punching the same dummy again, going for body shots, and with each punch, the ground shuddered slightly as light shone out under his gloves. As he punched, the crescent on his forehead glowed brighter and brighter until light blew up everywhere, blinding Adelaide and Light. When it cleared, Light was on his back, with an Orb and two crescents on either side floating above his face. He'd read about it somewhere... And the name Hyperion floated through his mind. "Oh... Hyperion" Is all he could manage as the symbol disappeared.

"Well," Adelaide sputtered, "speak of Hades." She was a bit flustered by the sudden appearance of a claiming symbol over Light's head. "Who, exactly, was that?" she asked after the symbol disappeared, not having heard what he had muttered.

She reached her hand out to Light and helped him up as she waited for his response. His claiming had seemed to catch the attention of all the half-bloods in the arena. After all, it was a big bright light that
wasn't the sun. That would be enough to make anyone stop in their tracks.

Light grabbed Adelaide's hand and shuffled to his feet, patting off the dust and grime that had accumulated along his clothing when he fell. "That... was Hyperion... Titan of Light" The last part sent a shudder through his body. His name... His power.... His strength, all things from a Titan. He noticed the people of the arena turning towards him, and most of Light's nerves, and his fear of people kicked in, sending him reeling backwards into a wall as he stood, eyes wide. For some reason, Adelaide hadn't caused his urge to be alone to explode, so that was something... But perhaps she could turn into a reasonable comrade.

"I was hoping I would be some weird.... Apollo was he? Offspring.. But apparently that's not the case" He sighed, taking off his gloves, and groaned as his hands lit up. "Let me try something" Light whispered, reaching behind his back at the baton, hands shaking, while he gripped it, and held it in front of him. "Alright lets give it a whirl.. Shall we..." And he concentrated his new found light awareness into it, and with that it grew to a staff, and out of the staff burst a curved blade of light... a Scythe... "I think I will call you... Aurora" He said confidently, hitting it against the ground, and causing a burst of light to explode from the contact.

Adelaide watched as Light formed a scythe out of a baton, her eyes a considerably large size. "People definitely aren't staring at you now," she said, laughing. The light exploded from the crack in the ground that he had made. It seemed as if the whole arena was watching in awe.

"Your weapon certainly beats mine." Adelaide picked up her sword--Fred, she called it--from the ground and stroked her finger against the flat side of the blade. The sword quickly retracted itself into a lipstick tube. It seemed like more of a weapon for an Aphrodite girl, but considering how many tubes of red lipstick Adelaide went through, the disguise fit.

Light smiled and held his scythe towards the dummies as he swiped it and a ripple of white light erupted from the light blade towards the dummies, leaving a deep gash through the chest of the doll. "Good Aurora.." He laughed, instantly putting Aurora into baton form and dropping her, noticing the rest of the people looking at him. Instantly, he practically got as white on his hair, crescent faintly visible, "Adelaide.. Ca-Can we go... Please.." He shuddered, not liking the limelight that came with fancy titan powers.

After he walked out of the arena and sat outside, Light slumped against the wall and looked towards Adelaide, when the thought went through his mind, 'Why hadn't he pushed Adelaide away? Why hasn't he already told her off, and told her that he didn't like making friends or teaming up?' Maybe it was just the warrior mind set that brought him towards her as a possible fighting partner? He couldn't see himself ever moving past being friends, but it was a huge jump from his hatred and frightened spirit towards the thought of others being around him, or that they would get hurt. "So are we friends..." he whispered finally

Adelaide followed Light out of the arena, sensing his discomfort with having an audience. She stood across from him as he leaned against the outer arena walls and was shocked when he asked if she wanted to be friends.

The memory of her dead schoolmates on the tile floors of Oak Intermediate flashed before her eyes as she avoided looking into Light's. "I..." she whispered. She couldn't have any friends. She'd get them killed. She wasn't supposed to let that happen again. Adelaide took in a sharp breath and glanced at Light, who seemed to be scared as she was of the prospect. Maybe not for the same reasons, though.

"I..." she stuttered again, tearing her eyes away again, trying desperately to avoid eye contact. What was she supposed to say? 'Sorry, can't, last time that happened I ended up killing half my school,'? No.

Everyone was safe at Camp Half Blood. The fleece lay on the border and there was a force field isolating the camp from the rest of the world. And they were all half bloods, right? Adelaide wasn't going to risk anything saying "yes" to this kid.

Her eyes trailed back up to his. She found herself grinning. "Sure," she said. And, in a matter of habit, she stuck out her battle-scarred hand for him to shake.

At Adelaide's first hesitance, Light grew worried, scared that she would get the wrong impressions, but it seemed like she was the only person he could be around currently. It wasn't that he was scared of people in general, he just hated putting others in danger. Right when he put his head down, she said one word, and that one word made Light confident in trying to make friends, and one was a good start.

So Light reached out, cringing halfway and stopping, before firmly gripping her hand and smiling. "Thanks" He laughed a bit more confidently, sensing a growing part of him that would be forever conflicted with his true feeling towards making friends. Light then gasped as light seemed to blink around him and he was pushed upwards against his will, probably another Hyperion power, "Still not getting used to this whole.. Titan thing.." He admitted to Adelaide.

Light almost didn't shake her hand. Why the hesitation? Adelaide didn't bite...unless she was being kidnapped or something, then she might bite. But she was fairly certain that this kid wasn't a kidnapper.

"You were just claimed. Of course you aren't used to it," she said. "No worries, though. We're pretty accepting of all half-bloods. How long have you been here?"

Adelaide herself was surprised at how friendly she was being towards this guy, who was still almost a stranger. Affability wasn't exactly one of her areas of expertise. Maybe there was something different this time. Maybe he would...understand.

Light sighed and rubbed the back of his head self-consciously before answering, "Actually I just got here today... Some.... Monsters killed everyone else I was with, so I'd been trying to lay low" The words just came out of his mouth, and he too was surprised at how open he was being. Even thinking about the events brought nightmares to mind and how his mom was murdered back to surface almost eleven years later.

"Let's change the subject tho" He winced at how rude that seemed, "Let's see what other cool stuff I can do!" He laughed and put his palms to his right side and concentrated, a small orb of light blinked and he was pushed to the left, laughing all the more. "Hmmmmm...... I wonder" Light thought out loud before jumping and a slight shimmer appeared and he floated forward. Slowly and slowly, he thought about other things he could do, all of which would take practice.

this little blue bird came looking for you

Entertained, Adelaide watched Light as he played with his newfound powers. She didn't have any magical abilities of her own, but she could kick butt in battle. That was enough of a power.

She felt as if she were being a bit of a bore as she leaned against the outer arena wall and watched him have fun, but she reminded herself that this was his moment of discovery. She remembered the moment when her mother had explained it all to her, and everything seemed to fall into place. She threw away her cell phone and was put on a plane that was heading for New York City, and then she rode a Taxi to Camp Half Blood.

Not very many demigods were lucky enough to have a mortal parent as loving as Adelaide's, but to make up for it, Ares certainly was a buttface for leaving Adelaide's mom and nearly dropping off the face of the planet without so much as a letter.

Adelaide thought about this a lot--what she would do if she met Ares, what she would say to him. Certainly, she would give him a piece of her mind.

She tuned back into reality, clearing the haze from her mind. "That's one plus of being the son of a Titan," she said. "You get awesomer powers. But I'm just a really good fighter. No magical, mystical powers that make people stare."

Light floated down and stared at Adelaide with a confused look, "I get awesome powers but at what cost? My Dad's a villain. What will happen to me" He snapped, angry at the small comment. Light thought he could stay cheery and upbeat, but tiny things like that dug under his skin and sat there. He couldn't quite place the sudden anger, and noticed a glow reflecting from his head, showing the crescent on his forehead lighting up. At that, Light faced away from her and punched the wall of the arena before resting his head on it and crying as sudden memories surfaced, all because his Dad was a Titan. He didn't ask for this, and it sure wasn't something he was super proud of now that it came up.

After a while, Light turned and sat with his back to the arena wall and put his head down on his knees. "I'm sorry..." He whispered to Adelaide, a new, bi-polar attitude developing on his first day in camp, almost second day, as by then, the sky had dimmed down and his white hair shown more dominant under the now moonlit area, his eyes searching the ground as if answers to why he was the way he was would just explode into his attention. While he waited for Adelaide's response to his brat-like behavior, he created a ball of light and bounced it between his hands and made it fly around his head, trying to create new ways of entertainment and calm down all while a Child of Ares, whom he'd just befriended, was probably regretting it.

Light's sudden misbehavior surprised Adelaide. Where did that come from? she thought. He had been so friendly earlier. Suppose it was appropriate to act that way when you find out your parent is one of the most hated figures in history. She stood for a moment with her mouth opened, but no words came out.

Fortunately for Light, Adelaide wasn't as stubborn as some of her siblings might be. In fact, she felt a considerable amount of hurt as she looked down at the ground, trying not to show the vulnerability that lay inside her, not untouched. No, it was more like her sensitivity was being squeezed between the strong hands of Hephaestus, and it was hurting her more and more every day to restrain it, covering it like a blanket over a lion's cage.

"No, I..." Adelaide said, trailing off, still uncertain of what to say. "Sorry. I'll go."

She started walking away from the arena. The prospect of leaving him alone seemed like a good idea, but in truth, a little part of her was hoping that he would call her back, although it was quite obvious that he was fed up with her at this point.
