Contemplating by the Creek (Arianna Nicole)

(Elijah)

I had come down to the creek to think about some things- mostly, to sift through the memories of the last two weeks. This was something I had to do every now and again. This was some.thing I had to occasionally- apparently, the human side of my brain had a few problems making sure everything got properly catalogued and stored away. And there was so much of it...

I had once talked to mom about that- the one time I had actually talked to her, by some kind of miracle, three years ago- and she had given me some advice about that. Of course, that memory was perfectly remembered, as everything else I had ever seen. But it still seemed, despite the perfect replay I was seeing in my head, that mom's face was a little less perfectly preserved than other memories.

I laid down on the grass and shut my eyes, letting the gentle sound of the flowing water in the creekbed nearby smooth away all my difficulties. I let my mind drift through different scenes- fighters in the arena, capture the flag last week, a fight between a Hunter of Artemis and an Aphrodite kid that had occurred a couple days ago...

BIC: I walked to the creek with my notebook and a pen, hoping to get my feelings down on paper. I see a blonde boy laying down, so I decide to sit down next to him. "Hey, I'm Arianna, Daughter of Aphrodite. Mind if I join you?" I ask.

(Elijah)

I was up to a point where I was running through fights from a couple days when I heard the gentle swish of grass and heard a voice. I opened my eyes just slightly, squinting into the green-tinted light next to me. A girl- Arianna, daughter of Aphrodite?- had sat down next to me.

"I don't mind." I said, the corner of my mouth twitching up. "I'm Elijah. Son of Mnemosyne." I tacked on.

"Thanks." I softly replied. I took a seat next to Elijah.
"This is a good place to think, the smell of the creek sooths me for some reason." I exclaimed. I tried to put my pen to the paper in my note pad, but I couldn't think of words to write. I was too intreaged by the new boy I had met.

(Elijah)

She settled down, and I shut my eyes again as she began to write, beginning again where I left off. With one part of my mind, I heard her say something about how the creek soothed her. "It helps me think." I said quietly. "And kind of, to not have to remember while I'm here..."

Woah. Wait. Why had I just said that?

(Elijah)

I opened my eyes and looked over at her at her question. I shrugged as well as I was able, laying on the ground as I was. "Ordering my thoughts." I said, my mouth again twitching into a semi-smile.

"I wish my mind would allow that. I have thoughts going in every which way." I laughed.

(Elijah)

I wryly chuckled at that. "Me, too. That's the problem."

(Elijah)

I nodded, and looked up at her as she nudged my shoulder. I sat up, resigning myself to not getting everything sorted out today. Ah well, I was close enough, and my head was feeling better. "So how long have you been at camp?" I asked.

(Elijah)

"8 years for me, too." I said in some surprise. I regarded her for a moment, runnng over my memories of campers... "I remember seeing you around."

(Elijah)

I nodded. We sat in silence for a minute, then I asked- "So how old are you?"

(Elijah)

"I'll be 18 in September." I said, glancing up at her. Hmm. This was getting a little odd- we were the same age, been here the same length of time...I was surprised we hadntmet before now.

(Elijah)

"Well, I don't usually listen to music." I answered. "I have an instant playlist in my mind, and there's so much its hard to know what I like or not. But," I added, "I like classical music a lot, when I do listen to it. What about you?" I continued.

(Elijah)

I smiled back at her. "So...Aphrodite, huh? How's life in the Aphrodite cabin?"

(Elijah)

"The basement is..." I considered for a moment, "interestibng, as usual."
