Speeding down the streets Manhattan in his silver Jeep Cherokee, Sawyer couldn't understand how he got himself in his situation. It all started with the music festival he attended a few weeks before and after hanging out with the pretty girl who liked the same music as he did, he realized that perhaps it wouldn't be so bad to see her again, so asked for her number. He and Victoria texted frequently, considering his busy schedule with the fight club and meeting deadlines for magazine articles, yet he was able to get to know her on a deeper level. Maybe he even developed a little crush on her. However when he'd attempt to ask her out for coffee or some unoriginal date, a flicker of his unsuccessful previous love life would display in his mind and he'd chicken out. Today was different. He finally plucked up the courage to call Victoria and asked her if she would like to meet him at the Brooklyn Bridge.
The late January sun shone over New York, the temperature finally warming up a bit. For once, Sawyer didn't have to crank up the heater in his car or wear--what seemed to be--a thousand layers of clothes. Today, he'd settled for a grayish blue button down shirt peeking out of a navy v-neck sweater under a pea coat paired with jeans and brown Doc Martens. The cobalt hues seemed to brighten his stormy blue eyes that shifted around the road before him.
Victoria was unlike any of the girls he has met. From the mysterious glint in her eyes to the wicked smile on her face, she was extremely intriguing. Sawyer found himself longing her company every moment she spent away from her. Most of his thoughts surrounded her, whether it was trying to decipher the color of her eyes or what ran through her mind. Hopefully tonight would be a chance for him to take a peek into who she truly was. Sawyer wasn't exactly experienced when it came to hanging out, but maybe she'd appreciate watching the sun go down over Brooklyn Bridge before heading out to the Brooklyn Bridge Park to grab some dinner, then heading back to Manhattan via the East River ferry. It would also give a chance to try to extract the truth out of her; if she was a demigod or not. Sawyer spent the last few weeks out of Camp and stayed in his apartment nearby, but the possibility constantly irritated him.
Sawyer parked his car not far from the Bridge, realizing that it probably wasn't a good idea to bring it with him. Oh well. He could always come back the next day to pick it up, anxious about Victoria going back home, wandering through the dangerous streets of New York. Maybe he would accompany her to her home, if she wasn't from camp. He jogged slowly to the bridge, settling himself not far from the entrance. Pulling out his Samsung phone, he tapped the screen to send a message to Victoria:
