Camp Half Blood is the sister site of Camp Jupiter.
With the dark December night settled in, and the stars casting a soft glow on the snowy grounds of Camp Half-Blood, Topher was starting to feel that it looked a whole lot like Christmas. As a kid he'd ask for numerous gifts from Santa. He recalled writing letters, asking for the latest Hot Wheels toy or The Avengers action figure set. This year, Santa may have took him by surprise by giving him a Christmas he'd always remember. With his hand on the small of Belle's back, he led them to the Mess Hall where the Sadie Hawkins dance was taking place. Unconsciously, a tiny smile made its way to his face. He was glad that he made a new friend today, albeit it was difficult. His eyes wandered to his date, the Khione cabin leader. Topher had the impression that she didn't let just anyone into her life as easily as she did to him, something that he was grateful for. The thought lingered at the back of his mind. The two were polar opposites; Topher has always been this easy-going, laid-back guy while Belle, on the other hand, seemed cold and distant. After witnessing the way she smiled and giggled earlier, there was more to Belle than he knew.
Like a true gentleman, Topher opened the door for Belle to let her enter before he did. "After you, ma'am," he joked with a faux Southern accent, tipping an imaginary top hat.
Camp Half-Blood never ceased to amaze him when hosting events. The party planners would usually go out--this year was no exception. The room flashed green and red, the light bouncing off the giant blimp-like balloons. He scanned the area quickly, his eyes landing on an empty table south of the dance floor. "C'mon." he grinned, guiding her to the table. He passed by old friends and acquaintances, acknowledging them with a nod and a smile as the pair passed through the mass of people. Introductions could be made later, he needed to give his date a night she would never forget.
"So, dancing or food: your pick." Topher pulled a chair out for Belle before settling into one beside her. His eyes flickered to the dance floor to the snacks on the table. He wouldn't mind either one."Unless you want to do something else," he added quickly, unaware of other activities available at the event.

Cold Outside
Belle stepped carefully through the snow, aware that her short clothing might make someone cold... someone who wasn't the daughter of the snow goddess. She was perfectly fine, being guided by Topher, wishing he would have taken her arm in his or something like that, something romantic, because she felt like she was being guided to the principal's office or something with his hand on her back. Belle thought Topher was probably scared she would pull back or slap him or something, and Belle didn't blame him for the assumption. She had indeed been rather protective, hadn't she? But it wasn't without good reason. It was even more uncomfortable because his hand was really close to the scar on her back from when her ex threw a pot at her in a tantrum and it shattered on her.
The flashback happened quickly. Belle was suddenly on the floor of a two-person dorm room, her cheeks spontaneously wet with tears. She had just broken up with her boyfriend, and he was flipping out. She was only 12, and he was 13, but how could such rage be in such a small body? Yells were firing throughout the room, background noise through the sobs of Belle, curled up in a corner. She just wanted to get out of there. She felt trapped. Like a mouse, helpless and scared. Belle looked up through her tear stung eyes, and saw him grab a pot, which he poured the flowers out of and brought it up over his head. Belle gasped and the next second it was hurled through the air. Belle turned and ducked, but she felt the impact.
Belle suddenly stiffened, losing her step. She was now back by Topher, not sure how she had changed scenes but she was glad she did. She stumbled, but caught herself. She lifted a finger to her face, but it was dry. Good, she had not cried. At that, Belle reached behind her and took Topher's hand and removed it from her back. She didn't tell him the reason, but she smiled apologetically as this was the second time she had turned him down for physical contact. Finally, they reached the dance, and he let her in, but not without a mock of a southern accent, which made her giggle as she thanked him in the same mock accent. As he guided her over to a table, and pulled out a chair, she sat. When he sat next to her, she turned, and listened. "Well," she spoke loudly so the music would not drown her out. "I'm not really that hungry, unless you are," she said, taking into account that she did not know whether he was hungry or not. "I mean, I guess I could eat, if you want."
Everything passed in a blur that Topher had almost missed it. He almost hadn't notice Belle stiffen at his touch earlier before she gently took off his grasp on her back with an apologetic smile. Was it too soon for close contact? His friends had been A-OK with friendly gestures, but there seemed to be an underlying truth to his date's actions. Deciding not to push her, he shoved his hands in the pockets of his slacks and snapped back to reality.
"I'm not hungry either." he shrugged, biting his lip. His gaze shifted to the dance floor where bodies swayed before they flickered back to her. "I'm not going to force you to eat, Belle," he chuckled. "If you're not hungry, then we won't eat. I'm not sure if you'd like to dance though," he thought aloud nervously. Weirdly enough, Belle made him nervous. She was so fragile that it made him feel like he was taking care of a porcelain doll. He didn't mind it at all, but he wanted to know what caused her to act that way, Perhaps it would be better to save that kind of conversation for later, after they would become good friends. Topher didn't like to rush into things. Things never went well when he had done so. He briefly recalls memories wherein he and the girl went too fast and the relationship never lasted long. He didn't move from girl to girl fast, only having three girlfriends before, but it was easy to say that he has made some pretty stupid moves in the past. He's had flings, but nothing permanent. It was starting to irritate the sixteen year old boy. Maybe it would be best if he actually stopped looking for a relationship.
Looking back at Belle, he gave her a soft smile. For tonight, he could just forget everything and have fun.

Cold Outside
Belle raised an eyebrow. Topher didn't seem to be enjoying himself much right now, did he? It was obvious, because he wasn't joking very much, and his blue eyes seemed almost sad. This made Belle feel bad, and she knew she would have to push her past aside and be more comfortable with him.
"Why would you say that?" she asked, looking over at the campers dancing. She could pick out a couple Khione kids looking over at her and winking and she gave them a look that told them to buzz off. They giggled and walked off, glancing back now and then. Belle chuckled a little. It was probably weird for them to see her with someone. She then looked back at Topher, and pushed with all her might the memories that bugged her for years to the back of her mind as she reached out and touched his hand softly. "Hey, let's dance, pretty boy," she teased, pushing back her chair and standing up. "C'mon, what are you waiting for?" She asked. She then began to wonder if he was a good dancer. Usually, it was excusable for a guy, but Belle couldn't really say she was a pro herself, so she was a bit nervous. She knew how to dance but she rarely danced with a partner and was a tad bit out of practice.
"You never struck me as the type who liked dancing, that's all," he laughed, shaking his head. Topher followed her gaze to see her eyeing some campers. Based on her strong personality, he guessed that some of the inhabitants of Cabin 16 thought she was the type to not bother to show up to a dance with a date. His lips threatened to break out in a smile. Part of him liked that he had the ability to shed some of her uptightness and let her live a little.
He jumped slightly when she touched his hand. It was probably the first time she initiated contact, aside from the almost-slap she would've given him earlier. "I'm pretty boy now, huh?" Topher stood up from his chair. "So, ice queen, may I have this dance?" he held out an arm for her to take before dragging her excitedly to the dance floor. The nickname he had given her meant no offense. In fact, it was a reference to her position as a cabin leader of the Khione cabin. It had a nice ring to it, having Belle be nicknamed ice queen, since technically, she was the resident ice queen of Camp Half-Blood.
The song was upbeat and perfect for dancing, which allowed Topher plenty of room to goof around. He led them to the middle of the dance floor before he leaned in to whisper in her ear, "Relax and loosen up."
With that note, he pulled away from her with wicked smile playing on his lips. He, then, proceeded to perform a string of cheesy, timeless dance moves ranging from the sprinkler to the robot. "Do the hustle!" he boomed, transitioning his little routine to perform the hustle. He finished with twirl before winking at Belle. Looking pathetic was the last thing on Topher's mind. He was persistent on giving Belle the time of her life.
