It was hard to pretend you were someone, or something else out where people can see you, and you are aware of yourself. But in a library, with a fantasy book in hand, you can be anything. Anyone. Amaranta enjoyed curling up in a corner of the library, leaning on pillows. A large book sat on her lap, her goat hooves clicking a little as she shifted, reading. Her mind was in a desert world, with a beautiful princess and a thief.

A loud thud, a thick book collided with the wooden floor. It was a book called 'The Complete Works of William Shakespeare.' It was in greek of course "désolé dame (Sorry Lady)" The voice was low and clearly apologetic even if Amaranta may not understand french. It was a boy, no older than fifteen years old. Ethan picked up his book and took a seat upon a beanbag, the thick book resting on his legs. He flicked the cover open and began to read, seeming to not pay much attention to Amaranta.

Amaranta jumped, her pointed ears seemed alert, her goat legs stiff. A little squeak of surprise had left her lips at the loud noise. "Uhm... what?" Amaranta's name may be latin, but the only languages she knew from it was English and Greek. Noticing the boy, a good-looking boy at that, she stiffened even more, shifting to try and hide her hooves. She hated them.

Ethan "I said Sorry Lady" he says, wrapping his fingers around the top of the book puling it closer to him. He seemed to consider Amaranta for a minute or two, his lips pursed in thought. He let out a small chuckle and shifted about slightly upon the bean bag chair. "So...do you come in here often lady?" Ethan says, tilting his head to the left an inquisitive look upon his face.

"Oh. Uhm. It's okay." The satyress shuffled her hooves, holding her book carefully in her slender fingers. Blinking at him, she suddenly got self-aware. "What's funny?" she asked, looking away and blushing. "My name is Amaranta. And yes, I do..." She mumbled, looking down at her book.

"Well nothings funny really." Ethan says, turning to start a play within the book 'Romeo and Juliet.' The young demi-god watched the young woman with a smile on his face. "Well that's good a literate woman is a smart woman." Ethan leaned towards the girl a coy smile upon his face "The name's Ethan and Amaranta...Is a beutiful name."

"Ah..." Amaranta saw the play he was reading a thought inwardly, 'A romantic?'. Looking down at her book, and back at him, she blushed. "Well, a literate woman is just a woman that can read." She was trying to be confident, but as he leaned closer, looking coy, she faltered. The blush spread more evenly across her cheeks. "Uhm...th-thanks...It's latin or something..."

"Oh I'm well aware, Amaranta the flower that never fades." Ethan says watching the girl blush. He decided to move in closer, he shifted onto a bean bag closer to the woman, actually it was practicly right next to her. Ethan still carried the book in his hands, he nodded slowly. He was unsure of what to say next, so he just said the first thing that came to his head "I like your nails." It was obvious he was trying to start a conversation.

Ama nodded, looking down at her book. She noticed the boy getting closer, and started to panic. No guy had actually gotten closer who wasn't another satyr. Looking over at him, she was startled by the observation. She'd recently had her nails done up with pumpkins and bats, all glittery and cute for Halloween. "Oh. Thanks. I try to get a manicure at least every month..."

"Yeah well, there very cute the pumpkins are a nice touch. Can't say I like the bats though, they don't go with the pumpkins." Ethan says nodding his head slowly as he spoke, he shut his book and decided to use it to lean against. "So Belle...do you mind if I call you Belle, I mean it is french for beutiful after all." The young boy laughed at that a charming smile played across his face. Ethan let a small sigh escape his lips.

"I didn't design them. The lady made them up at the salon..." Amaranta marked her own page, shutting it carefully and looking down at the cover. "But thank you...and uhh... I guess you can call me Belle if you want..." She mumbled shyly, her blush running down to her neck now. "Most people just call me Ama though..." The satyress couldn't believe this was happening. No boy ever spoke to her like this. None!

"Ama it is then." Ethan says, watching the blush grow across her with mild amusement. He had to play this cool, to work out well. He knew some decent pickup lines and he knew some cheesy ones, he wasn't going to play either just yet. Ethan couphs ever so slightly "now Belle this may sound like a strange request...But can I please borrow your lipstick?"

The satyress nodded, watching him curiously, her green eyes wide with confusion and uncertainty. But the blush dropped and her eyes lost their sparkle. "Oh. Uh, sure." Turning, she reached into her purse and offered the pink, roll-on lip gloss. "Here, it's not exactly lipstick though."

Ethan nodded "thank you" he reaches over and slowly took the lip-gloss from the Satyress. He unrolled it and raised it to his lips, for a moment it looked he was actually going to apply it. But then he did something unexpected, something which would have most certainly taking Amaranta by surprise. He leaned forward quickly and locked lips with the girl for less than a moment. The young man then pulled away and returned the lip gloss "I bet you didn't expect that Belle."

Amaranta watched him curiously. It wasn't that odd to see a guy willing to put on lipstick. She'd seen quite a lot living in the camp her whole life. What she hadn't expected, was him to lean in and kiss her. It was the first she had ever had. After he sat back and spoke, it would take quite a few moments for her to snap out of a daze. "U-uhm..no... I didn't..." she mumbled, reaching up to touch her lips, holding the lipgloss in her hands.

Ethan tilted his head watching Amaranta with interest before he spoke. "O, she doth teach the torches to burn bright! Her beuty hangs upon the cheek of night Lke a rich jewel in Ethiop's ear: Beuty too rich for use, for earth too dear! So shows a snowy dove troping with cros, As yonder lady o'er her fellows shows. The measure done I'll watch her place stand And, touching hers, make blessed my rude hand. Did my heart love till now? forswear it, sight! For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night." While He spoke these words he looked into the girls eyes and gently took a hold of her right hand.

"I-I...don't know what half...of that meant." Amaranta was completely confused by the whole situation. This boy, was flirting with her? He kissed her? But she was a satyr! She had goat legs for Zues' sake! "I...Don't understand..." Her hooves shuffled on the carpeted floor, her eyes on him, watching for any hint of him teasing her.

"That's ok Neither do I, I guess that's why it's so popular everyone loves just trying to just figure it out." Ethan says, running his thumb over the back of Amaranta's right hand. The young boy flashed her a playful wink he bobbed up and down "Ugh..ugh...ugh...Don't understand what?...you act as though no ones ever flirted with you before."

"No one has! Unless it's been a joke..." The satyress pulled her hand slowly away, not snatching it as to not offend him. Pulling up one of her pant-legs to show of the furry goat leg underneith, she sighed. "These always seem to push guys away." Letting the flare'd pant leg drop, she tucked them up to her chest.

Ethan leaned closer to inspect her legs, pretending to examine them with fake glasses. "Hmm...so your either have realy hairy legs in which case I'd recomend a good barber...Or your a goat lady in which I have to apologise for not bringing any coke cans." Ethan says nodding his head matter of fact, her straightened up a smile upon his face. He folded his arms slightly looking her in the eyes, the same charming smile still upon his face.

Amaranta blinked at him, peeking over her knees in actual surprise. "Well, the hooves kind of point to the second, I think... And it's okay, I prefer bottles over cans anyways..." she mumbled shyly. Those green eyes were looking at him in awe, the blush back across her cheek. "You're...not freaked out by them? Or think they're gross?"

"No of course not." Ethan says shaking his head slightly a small chuckle escaping his lips. "I admit there a little wierd...but everyone's little wierd we have to be or life would be faaaaaar too boring." He wraps his fingers against his knees watching the woman with interest. "I have to admit though...your eyes are definatly your best feature, for they doth shine brighter than Artemis's moon, brighter than Apollo's sun."

Amaranta was starting to panic. She didn't know how to feel about the situation. He was being sweet, but usually guys were actually just pranking her. Her heart was pounding a mile a minute, her green eyes showing her anxiety. "You probably say that to a lot of girls..." she mumbled, hiding her face. She wished she could talk to Hudson about this. He would make sense of it for her. He was way smarter than her.

Ethan could sense the girls disstress and moved to comfort her. He moved to drape an arm around her shoulders and pulled her into a gentle hug. He let a small sigh escape her lips "Look I know this may be erm...upsetting for you, but I'm not tricking you, not playing a joke or trying to con you out of something." Ethan says keeping his voice low and calm "Perhaps...Perhaps I am doing this for fun, perhaps I'm doing it to make you feel better, or perhaps I'm doing it because I genuinly like you why don't you pick one."

"I don't know... And you don't know me well enough to like me... We just met..." Ama didn't pull away, but mumbled into her knees. Her pointed ears were drooped a bit, her little goat tail slumped. She didn't know how to feel about this at all, even slightly. The idea that anyone would just flirt for fun made her make a face. And she didn't want anyone's pity. "I'm just not used to it..."
