meira sanzenin * demeter * sixteen

Meira was late for the battle, and she ran as fast as she could to help save the camp. With her dagger at hand, she jumped high then slashed as she landed on her knees. The empousai exploded into dust with a horrible wail, and Meira got up, huffing. She readied her blade. As she stalked forward, thorn plants grew in her wake. Meira was ready to fire its thorns the moment she needed them.

Five minutes in battle, and Meira was already sweating hard. Her senses kicked in, her ADHD coming into place and saving her. She slashed with trembling hands, and the thorns fired. Perhaps it were Meira's nerve overreacting. She felt a presence behind her, and without a delay, she fired her thorns behind her back, only to realize that it was a fellow demigod. She gasped, then whirled, her hands thrust out. The thorns fell at the ground. The daughter of Demeter breathed a sigh of relief.

"S-sorry," she muttered to the camper as she wiped her forehead with the back of her free hand. "Just my nerves, right."

"It's okay. I've done worse." I said sheepishly. With a smile I said, "If this was a better time, I'd introduce myself in a more proper manner. I'm Asher, daughter of Aphrodite. I can try to fight them off, but I'm waiting for my partner. He will help be the brute force of the operation." I brushed my hair off of my face and looked around impatiently.

"Did somone say handsome and strong?" I asked jokingly. "Hi I'm Xander. We all done with role call now?" I shifted my sword to my right hand. "I wanna kick some monster butt!" I said. With a lunge forward I swooshed and took some branches off of a tree.\

"Great. You killed a bush!" I said sarcastically.

Meira breathed a sigh of relief as the girl she'd almost impaled were okay. She smiled at their exchange, waiting for an opening so that she could speak. "Nice to meet you, Asher," Meira said. She waved her hand once, but realized it was shaking. She quickly hid it behind her. She hoped no one noticed except her.

Meira stared at the brown-haired guy, burly looking and sort of handsome. She grinned at him. As she listened, Meira thought about Meiko. What was she up to, now? Is she safe there, wherever she was? She grimaced, but had to laugh when Asher said that Xander had killed a bush.

"Yeah. Killing a bush. It's a liberty," the daughter of Demeter interjected. She was about to speak more when an enemy demigod approached them with an evil sneer on his face. Meira glared at him. One second and there were already thorn plants sprouting at the ground. Five seconds and all of them fired off at once. The demigod retreated several paces back, then shouted for reinforcements. Meira cursed him and turned back to other two.

"I suppose we can be a team, now?" she asked pleasantly, or hoping that she had. Meira was nerved today.

I smiled sweetly at everyone. I was about to say somthing else when this demigod who had clearly never been trained at camp crashed our little party. We attacked brutally. She used her daughter-of-demeter powers, Xander started to slash viciously, and I shot a few arrows.
When the kid yelled for renforcements, I cursed under my quickened breath. "Hera's panties!"
Xander, however got a little more... creative with his cursing. I noticed that the demigod enemy didn't look scared. I thought that it was somthing else, but I couldn't put my finger on it. As his backup came, I realized what I saw. It was a complete lack of human sanity. That boy looked one hundred persent wacadoodle. This was the first moment since I knew I was a halfblood that I accually feared for my life. I gulped out, "Xander, I'm scared. I don't want to die."

I stared straight ahead,. I tried to shake what she said from my thoughts. "The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time. A man who won't die for somthing isn't fit to live." I whispered. "I would die for you. I'll keep you two safe. I promise."
