Silena Beauregarde-Daughter of Aphrodite
Silena heard people yelling in excitement. It had to be Charlie, and Percy. She fled to the shore, hope swelling up in her heart. Charlie had to be there, he had to have lived. Instead she saw only Percy Jackson, standing there with a look of mourning on his face. “Where’s Charlie?” He had to be hiding, hiding from her to surprise her as he came back. Chiron had a sorrowed appearance, and said “Silena, my dear, let’s talk about this in the Big House.” “No, no, no!”
Charlie couldn’t be dead. He was too good, too kind. It was all because of her. Because she fell for Luke before him. She ran straight to her cabin, weeping the whole way. Next thing she knew, she was sitting on her bed, cradling her knees, and staring at the scythe charm on her bracelet. How had she agreed to do this? Silena felt as if she, solely her, had been responsible for his death. How could she have been so stupid?
Silena sat in the Big House, eyes red and puffy, watching the cup of hot cocoa that had been placed in front of her become cold. She was barely listening to the conversation at all, and could only think about Charlie, and only him. A memory came over her, and she stared off into space, remembering the beautiful day. It was mid-April, but it wasn’t raining that day. Her and Charlie sat in a meadow scattered with flowers, Silena lying on him. Charlie put daisies in her hair, while she giggled.
It was time. Silena had a plan. She slipped into the Ares cabin, sure that Clarisse wasn’t there, and stole her armor. She put it on, and rallied the Ares campers back to the cabin. “We need to fight!”, she said, in her best impersonation of Clarisse. They got to the city, and Silena saw the drakon. “For Ares!” She charged at the drakon, only to get gravely injured. As she lay on the ground, closer to death than she’d admit, she took off her charm bracelet, and placed it in Clarisse’s palm. “I’ll be with.. with Charlie now.” Her tight grip on Clarisse’s hand released, and Silena Beauregarde closed her eyes for the last time.
