Out And About {Private}

I sung my back pack over my shoulder, the weight of it carrying itself to my back. I slid my arm into the other strap, and continued down the street, humming and drumming my hands against the strap. I was just walking, looking for my favorite book store. I also needed some paper for my Book Of Shadows. However, I was taking my time, because I had no engagments back at camp, so I wasn't in the need to get back.

Amber was walking around the bookshop again, the nearest one from camp. She was allowed out occasionally, since Chiron had decided she was the more responsible type. She loved reading, despite her dyslexia. She picked up a book on photography, smiling as her mind sprang to a friend who she thought would surely like that book.

I walked into the book store, the bell jingling as I did so. I imediatly grew peaceful in the quiet place. I walked to the religion section, and crouched down, looking for either a new Wiccan book, or a Spell book, since I was solitary and couldn't be taught by another. I decided on a book that was for Earth spells, and I continued on in the store, slowly moving closer to the girl, unaware of my doing so.

Amber put down the book and turned to look at the clock hanging on the wall above a shelf of books. It was about 5:30pm, she had to be back in camp before dusk. Turning to leave the shop, she gave a start as she nearly tripped over someone crouching at the shelf. She nimbly twisted to avoid the figure, but knocked into a nearby cabinet. To her horror, the heavy furniture swayed precariously on its three spindly legs, inevitably going to fall.

Instinctively, she thrust out her hand and flicked, drawing from her magic, stopping the cabinet from toppling over, and restoring it to its original position. She stuck her hand back into her pocket, nervously fingering her weapon, guiltily hoping nobody saw.

I gave a shocked little cry, and landed on my butt. There was a crash, and a girl was righting the cabinate that was about to topple over. I stood up quickly, and walked over, holding out my hands. My eyes were clouded with concern. "Are you ok? Sorry about that."

Amber turned to see the guy she had nearly tripped over. "Huh? Oh. Yeah. It's alright." She said hurriedly, inwardly heaving a sigh of relief. Perhaps he didn't notice after all.

"You from camp?" I asked insuspiciously. She had definetly just used a form of magic. And not my kind. If she was, I was going to take a risk and ask if she'd walk back with me. I held out my hand again, to help her up.

Amber gave a start. She hadn't known anyone who would just ask it out directly. Stuff like that was supposed to be kept to a lower profile. He was either new, an idiot or an enemy. Enemy. Her panicky side decided to panic, of course. What if he was one of those enemy demigods who knew who she was? Perhaps he could be a mortal who apparently mistook her for someone else at those regular camps. But what were the odds of that?

Or maybe, the more reasonable part of her thought drily, he was just an ordinary camper who forgot. Maybe I'm really just overthinking this, spending too much time with that amusingly paranoid half-brother of mine, she thought sheepishly.

All the same, Amber decided to play daft, and cautious. "What camp?"

Now the girl was pulling my tail. I could get introuble for directly saying it, but I was posotive she was a camper. "Camp CHB." I decided, switching my weight in my feet, and sliding my hand into my pocket gently. "We study Greek Gods there." I said, with a little laugh. How clever was I. Very clever if I do say so myself.

Amber looked at him, unbelieving. She was surprised that he could just say it out so casually. But anyway, he didn't do any harm. At the most, mortals might think he was odd, talking about gods and camp. She thought it was pretty clever of him, since he didn't reveal anything either.

"Yeah. Sure we do. " She smiled, deciding to just let it go. If he was an enemy camper, she'd be ready. "I'm Amber. Cabin 15. You?"

"Aydenn. Cabin 4." I said, sticking out my hand for a hanf shake. "We should be getting back soon. Would you care to walk with me?" I asked, casualy, glancing at the sky outside.

"Nice to meet you Aydenn." She said, smiling. Amber then looked out of the door too. "Why not? You going anywhere else?" She hoped she wouldn't be affecting his way back.

"Nope." I said, leaning over and placing the book on a random shelf. "I was just about to go back," i stepped to the sidem and held out my arms in the direction of the door. "Ladies first!"

Amber laughed, and walked out of the door. She was totally used to dramatic stuff like that. Especially when you have a Casanova as a good friend. "So, which way do you want to take? The fast, or longer one?"
