| The Amphitheater. A place for campfires, merriment and the making of plays. But today, it was the stage for a lone girl. She didn't seem to care if anyone was around or not. Brianna wasn't the type to follow what was happening in the real world. Today, she was twirling around, dancing, jumping, spinning and moving. Her body moved remarkably, twisting and turning with prefect balance she never seemed to have out of this state. Her eyes were blind to the world around her, unfocused, her body moving as it liked with the wind, a music in her own mind. She was in her own world. | |

| Her temples pulsed in a hastened, unfamiliar pattern and her knuckles sweat. She had always loved to watch people dance, but this? This was more than just dancing. This was beauty and passion and art in the making. The girl on the stage, performing in front of a crowd of empty chairs, without even a spotlight to illuminate her execution of hops, twirls, and stretches, seemed blissfully unaware of her surroundings. She was happy, just performing. It was admirable, and Harper found that she couldn't peel her eyes away from the young, freckled girl with long light brown hair, adorned with woven beads that glistened and ribbons that only added further to her elegance.
Harper wanted nothing more than to dance with the young woman, to join her in front of an imaginary audience and allow the story of her life to play out in a spontaneous arrangements of flips and spins. She wanted to talk to the girl, to maybe get to know her and have a friend with similar tastes and talents in this lonely camp.
But socializing was something Harper did not do particularly well, and so she bit her tongue and gripped the seat's armrests until her fingers lost color, as if to physically keep herself from springing up. She was to be as silent as she could so as not to disturb the act, but all efforts were foiled when a feather of tickling passed through her nose. Her eyes widened in alarm as she registered what was coming, and before she could respond, her head was thrown back and brought forward once again, nostrils flaring as a high pitched, "CHOO~" of a sneeze whistled out.

| It didn't take even a moment for the girls eyes to come into focus. "Bless you!" she shouted, her voice like the sound of wind-chimes in a spring breeze. She didn't miss a step of her twirling dance, her bare toes keeping her in perfect balance as she spun and flipped her way over to a chair in the front row, a twist to snatch her bag, and a twirl, cartwheel and flip before she was sitting next to the girl who sneeze, giggling.
"Here." A tissue was produced from the brown, leather bag. It looked as though she must have made it herself. A big grape bunch was painted on the front delicately, and purple and green beads hung from the bottom.
A tissue was offered, held out by a small hand with prettily painted nails, little grape bunches painted on them with the same delicate hand as was on her bag. "I keep them cause people sneeze a lot in Summertime. Allergies are mean!" Her small form was bouncing in the chair as she smiled a friendly smile. "I'm Brianna!"

| Her heart nearly ripped out of her chest as the girl demonstrated a precise rotation, followed by her forward spring into the chair aside from Harper's. The color from her face drained and, even though she watched the entire fluid motion, she still jumped sideways out of her chair away from the girl in terrified shock. "Holy shi--" There was small thud as Harper landed on her side, with her cheek hugging the cold ground under her. She let out a small disoriented whimper before rolling onto her back, still with her eyes squeezed tight shut.
It only took her a moment to regain her bearings and realize that she was a total freaking idiot who was currently lying on the ground. A dry lump caught in her throat as she ran through words and phrases, trying to connect them into some smooth, coherent explanation for her current position. "....Hi."
Wow. Wow, really Harper? That's all you could come one with? So much for smooth.
With a push off the ground from her elbows, she drew herself up, bringing her knees to her chest and laying her palms flat on the ground. Her head hurt. Not badly, but just enough to be mildly irritating. Every action she just executed seemed to be just mildly irritating, actually. "Uhm..." Think, Harper. Think. Say something, anything that'll get you out of this mess. "Sorry." What the heck are you apologizing for? Nevermind, it'll have to work.
The fragile girl mentally scolded herself and met her hazel eyes with the lovely violet orbs of the girl she had previously been admiring. What a disgrace. She had one chance to approach in a way that wouldn't make either of them feel awkward--which she had still been trying to figure out how to do--and had totally, utterly blown it. It wasn't much of a shock, though. Harper felt that social disaster was inevitable, and that she was some sort of walking teenage plague that bestowed painful embarrassment upon everyone she came in contact with. That, of course, included eye contact.
These poor girls were screwed.

| Letting out a soft giggle, Brianna slipped onto the ground to sit in front of her, her skirt fanning around her legs, concealing them completely. "Are you okay? I fall all the time! Do you need a band-aid? I have big ones, small ones, circle ones...." she trailed off, pulling out a box of brightly colored, character embossed band-aids. Each one, had a My Little Pony from the new show on them. Looking over her, she would place a band-aid on any scrapes if allowed. If there were no scrapes, she'd put it on her cheek. "Band-aids help. Even when you don't have a hurt that needs it!"
The small girl didn't seem to mind her short statements. Or her awkward. Leaning back, she gave a dazzlingly, happy smile. "What's you're name?" she asked, her voice still that happy, healing tone. She loved all things and people. Even ones who were mean to her, and even ones who were afraid of her. There wasn't a day she stopped loving a single thing. Her motto was Dark things can happen, but so long as you smile, it can never take your happiness away! And she stuck to it like glue. Brianna couldn't remember ever -not- being this way. Most people figure she must have clunked her head or something, and while she has hit her head falling a few times, it had never been the cause of her happy take on life.
"So what's your name? What cabin are you from? What do you like to do? Do you like grapes? I like grapes a lot!" The questions were shot out in her happy tone, fast and right after one another. Her violet eyes glittered at the idea of having a new friend! "I'm Brianna Whyte. My daddy is Mr. D. I like to dance and jump and play tag with the nymphs and satyrs and growing grapes!"

| I am stuck on band-aid brand 'cause band-aid's stuck on me.
Grow up, Harper.
The silly tune ceased player in her head as soon as the barrage of questions came. "I'm, uhm, I'm okay. It's just a scrape...." Her cheek was pink but there was obviously nothing fatal. She didn't even need a band-aid. "I fall a lot, too." Before she could say much more the girl had revealed a small box of variously sized and shaped band-aids, all from the My Little Pony show. Harper couldn't help her eyes lighting up. Not only did they have dancing in common, but My Little Pony, as well. This one was more of a guilty pleasure for Harper, though. She didn't bother trying to explain to her friends after they snorted just at the show's title, but Fluttershy was basically her spirit animal.
"M-My name is Evans... Harper! It's, uh, Harper Evans." A flush of red invaded her face, and she probably looked like a tomato. Just great, Harper. "I'm... uh... I'm from Cabin two." The questions just kept coming and coming, next one slightly more irrelevant than the latter. A clear line of tears pooled at the corners of her eyes. "I like, uh... Dancing a-and... wha? Oh, uhm, grapes taste okay--?"
What a spunky girl. She seemed completely oblivious to all of Harper's flaws. She sniffed and her eyebrows drew together like the roof of a house as the tears threatened to fall. Her voice caught in her throat and she bit her shaky, bottom lip. She was an idiot and this was all overwhelming. "I...I..." Her sparkling eyes met that of the lively girl before her, who was in the midst of introducing herself. "I'm sorry...!" At once she drew her legs closer to her chest, throwing her head down into her knees with her arms wrapped around them tightly as she sobbed. And through her sobbing she realized how much weaker it made her look. And realizing how weak she was acting only made her cry more. It was a vicious circle, and the girl above her would probably just walk away confused. Ironically, that's what she had been trying to avoid in the first place. Harper, you've done it again.

| The girl would look at her with a big smile as she answered. Even if she didn't need the band-aid, she would get one with Fluttershy on it. But once she started crying, Brianna blinked.
"Did...I make you cry?" she asked, looking worried. She didn't like making people cry! She was just trying to be friendly! She knew she was sometimes overbearing, and loud, and talked to fast, but she rarely made someone cry! Maybe she was just sensitive like Fluttershy. The hyper girl sat and thought, what would Pinkie Pie do? Nodding in agreement to the imaginary Pink Pony in her head, she shifted closer.
And gave her a big hug, holding her. "Shhhh...It's okay...I didn't mean to be too hyper." she cooed carefully. "How about I make you some cupcakes in an apology?" She offered in a sweet voice.

| Quick, Harper, make something up!
"I...uhm..." Her voice was muffled on account of her face being burried in her knees. When she realized that, she raised her head slowly, hesitant to meet eyes with the girl standing before her. And then, suddenly, contact. Strong arms wrapped around her and she felt a body press to her, warming her. Harper's eyes widened and her face grew hot. With sudden surprise she jerked back, out of the hug and back into the ground. She flinched, but didn't hold the pained look long. Instead, a look of shock.
Her eyes didn't leave the clear sky above, and her jaw was left agape. "I-I-I uhmmm I'm s-sorry..." Harper missed everything said after the hug. She was too stunned to move or function properly. Physical contact after as akward as she'd been? And how awkward she was being? "I... no.. I just cry... a-a lot..." When she came back down to earth, she blinked, pulling herself off the ground again and rubbing the back of her neck with one sweaty hand. "Maybe I should...go..." Yes, excellent idea. Go back to your cabin and never come out and maybe drown yourself in your tears you social-awkward psycho. Inhaling a cool, shaky breath and letting it pass out her nose, she shrugged in hopeless dejection.
"I probably shouldn't have been here, anyway..." If she'd been dancing and some girl came out of nowhere and just awkward watched without saying anything, she'd probably be at least somewhat disturbed. This girl's dancing was none of Harper's business. With a rub of her pink cheek--which had flushed a dark red with the rest of her face and was likely unnoticeable now--she moved forward, pushing off the ground to stand on two legs like a normal human being.

| "D-don't go!" Brianna begged the moment it left her mouth. "I...Don't have a lot of people who watch me dance...Won't you stay?" she asked, her voice still like those windchimes. "There's nothing wrong with being here!" Brianna's eyes were wide. She had made the girl cry, and made her want to leave cause she hugged her. "I-I won't be hyper or hug you again! I didn't mean to freak you out!" she looked panicked now. She always did when she thought she thought someone had bothered her. Pinkie Pie! What do I do?! | |

| Harper let out a shaky exhale. Not so much a sigh as it was a breath of relief. Somehow, in the back of her mind and heart she'd been hoping the girl would ask her to stay so she could watch some more. Of course, she hadn't expected that to happen, and what's more, she was somewhat paranoid that it was only out of pity because the violet eyed girl was under the impression that she made Harper cry, which wasn't true. Harper made herself cry. Without warning Harper felt guilt grab hold of her heart. The dancing girl's smile and happiness was gone, and Harper was at fault for it. The corners of her lips turned into a small, sad smile, and she gave a meager nod. "O-okay..." Her voice was tiny and fragile, and it took all her might to keep it from straining, and to keep the tears back. She didn't know if this girl wanted her around seriously or not, but she'd stay out of politeness, and also because she couldn't help but find herself interested in the girl's perspective on the art of dance. | |

| Brianna lit up at once. It looked like she's moved to hug her, but jerked herself from doing so. "Okay! Dancing! No hugging! Got it!" she said, jumping up and tugging a small Ipod out of her bag, speaker attachments and handed it to her. "Pick the song?" She offered, standing and running back to the main stage on her bare feet. She bounced eagerly, looking at Harper with her big, happy, grape-colored eyes. "I'll dance so well you'll wanna stay!" she clapped her hands together. Her playlist was a lot of smooth, contemporary songs. But she had a few faster, happier ones. | |

| Harper nodded. But I like hugs.... Well, that didn't matter. She'd get what she would take and the girl had already thrown an ipod at her and moved to the stage anyhow. The seat squeaked as Harper unfolded the seat she'd previously sat in before her embarrassing fall as the screen to the ipod lit up. She used her fingers to delicately scroll through the artist titles--none of which looked familiar to her in the slightest. Finally, at least half way through the list she recognized a name, and a glimmer of hope rose to life. With any luck this was a song that the girl genuinely liked, and not just an old song that she hated now but was too lazy to remove. "Uh, f-found one." She wired the attachments into the ipod, a task she was used to from doing it so much with her own music, and played the song. It was Natasha Bedingfield's Pocket Full of Sunshine, which began playing through the speakers. As soon as she heard the first note, she moved to look at bare-footed girl standing on the stage before her, alone, and she prayed that the girl would be happy with her choice. | |

| Brianna listened for a moment, before she let the music take her. Her eyes unfocused. Soon she was twisting, leaping, twirling, her body shifting gracefully and smoothly with the music, her curtain of caramel hair, her long peasant skirt, all of her movements accented. It was surprising how easily the girl could bend and twist, leap and twirl without a moment of loss of fluidity. | |
