Ethan had his hands shoved down inside of the pockets of his swimming shorts, his mind whirring full of thoughts. He wanted to ask Emily to officially be his girlfriend today. They'd been on a few dates and they still really hadn't talked about their relationship. Ethan really liked her, but he didn't want to be too pushy and force her to do that she didn't want to do. He didn't really like forcing people to do things that they didn't want to do. That's why he wasn't good at manipulation or lying.

He tried not to think about manipulation, though. Especially when he was thinking about asking Emily to be his girlfriend. The sun beat down on the son of Khione's head, making him way too uncomfortable in the sun. "Gods, I cannot think with this sun," Ethan mumbled, concentrating on the air temperature around him. Slowly, but surely, the temperature around him began to drop by a few degrees, making the eighty degree heat feel less extreme. When he stopped doing that, there was just a little bubble for Ethan of air conditioning. He smiled to himself thinking about that. Air conditioning.

Suddenly, he heard footsteps and he looked up.

Emily smiled to herself as she slipped a cover-up over her bathing suit. She and Ethan had been on a few dates now. Their first one ended well, after eating at the Italian restaurant they went for a walk through the streets and then back to camp. Emily had to admit, she was quite smitten with Ethan. She found him to be everything she could possibly ask for in a guy, despite how cheesy that sounds.
Emily skipped happily to the beach. She had her favorite teal bathing suit on with matching flip-fops and a brown and blue cover-up. She spotted Ethan ahead of her and she smiled. Emily, deciding she wanted to be forward, ran up to him. She slipped her shoes off and left them in her wake as she ran through the sand. Emily practically tacked Ethan. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pressed her lips to his in an enthusiastic kiss. She pulled back for a moment and grinned at him. "Hey there, hot stuff," she said, flashing a grin. Emily kissed him a few more times before allowing her arms to drop to her sides. Emily looked up at him and tilted her head to the side. "Ready for a swim?"

Awkwardly, he just kind of stood there with a dopey grin on his face, looking completely as if he had just woken up from a deep sleep. "Well, I guess so..." he said, the corner of his mouth turning up into a slight grin. "But, Em, first I need to tell you something," he said, looking serious for a moment. Ethan's heart skipped a beat. This was the moment he'd been waiting for. The moment he'd been dreading. The moment he'd been thinking about. The moment he'd been nervous about. Yeah, Ethan had a lot of mixed emotions about this. It wasn't his fault. He was just nervous... and anxious and pretty much everything else.

Ethan took a deep breath, steadying his breathing and began, "Well, Em, I've been thinking about it a lot, and well, you know how we've been going out on a lot of dates and well, yeah. I just, well... I like you a lot, okay? And I want you to be mine, officially. I just.. I would like that... a lot," Ethan said, his eyes on the ground and his foot kicking around the sand. His cheeks were a light pink color but a slight smile was on his lips. Ethan's heart was beating fast, pounding against his rib-cage so loud that he would've bet that Emily could hear it. On the last word he spoke, Ethan looked up at her with hopeful brown eyes. Almost like a puppy begging for a Milkbone.

Emily listened as he spoke. He seemed nervous, and when she realized what he was asking, she saw why. A blush spread to her cheeks. This was strange for her. She'd never really been asked to be someone's girlfriend before. It sent butterflies into her stomach and gave her goosebumps, despite how warm it was outside. When he finished speaking, Emily's cheeks pulled up into a smile. She stepped towards him again. She had new found confidence, despite her fluttering stomach. Emily took his face in her hands and brought his lips down to hers. This kiss was calmer and gentler. It had more feeling than the other one did and made her spine tingle. Emily let her arms wrap around his neck and she stood up on her toes. He was a generous amount taller than her, so he was either slouching or she was stretching. Emily pulled back after a moment and rested her head on his chest. She looked up at him, blue-green eyes dancing with excitement and a light blush still playing on her cheeks. "In case you didn't put the two together, that was a yes," she joked, poking his chest playfully. She reached her hand down and laced her fingers with his. "So we're together now then? Officially boyfriend and girlfriend." She was stating it almost for herself, since she still found it hard to believe that a boy as nice as Ethan would ever fall for someone as stubborn as she was.

Ethan grinned into the kiss, keeping it simple and not deepening it here on the beach. While Ethan loved kissing Emily and just loved touching her in general, he didn't believe in public displays of affection. Well, not the kissing and all that jazz. He was good with hand holding and hugging. "I figured that it would be a really harsh no," Ethan joked lightly, his eyes sparkling. He gave her hand a squeeze and then took it from her grasp to pull off his shirt. He tossed it onto the sand, glancing down at himself with not the least bit of self-consciousness. He was a lacrosse player; they happened to be very tone.

Ethan leaned down and whispered, "I'll race ya to the water," his lips brushed her ear.
