Meeting Someone New {Sophia}

Lex was sitting by the strawberries, picking a few when he got hungry. He didn't normally go to a place like the Strawberry Fields, but he wanted to do something different. He wanted to meet new people. The people in the Infirmary and the Arena were old news. He sat, waiting for someone to walk past him, so he could make a new friend.

Livia walked along the bushes, eating a strawberry or two every once in a while. The sun scorched down on her back. Liv flicked her ponytail back from her face, and continued at a slow rate, eating berries as she went. She yawned, sat down on the ground, Her hair dislodging from it's band in the wind. The breeze blew back her hair, flipping it back.

Lex whistled. He looked at Liv, who seemed to be a year younger than him. He smiled, and sat next to Liv. "Hey. Nice seeing you here," he said. He got his guitar out of it's case and started playing some chords.

"Hello." Liv nodded, obviously not at ease as the boy was. "Do I know you? Or are you just ridiculously friendly to everyone you meet?" Livia listened to the boy's chords. A bird whistled. Livia tucked her blowing hair behind her ears, and scooted away from the boy. She didn't want to get too friendly. After all, Livia still wasn't sure what was happening between her and Jesse.

Lex realized he was taking this way too fast. He put down his guitar. "Sorry. I'm Lex, by the way. Son of Apollo." he said. He smacked his head, thinking about how dumb that was. He knew he was with Claire. Why was he doing this? He didn't know. He closed his case, and leaned back. He looked at Liv, who seemed to be tense. Lex's smile faded.

"I'm Liv. Er, Livia. Athena." Livia said. she laughed slightly when he smacked his head, but in a friendly way. "What are you doing here?" She asked.

Lex smiled. "I thought I would meet some new people. The people at the places I normally go to are starting to get boring, especially after 4 years," he said, laughing. Livia. Nice name, Lex thought. He knew it wasn't much to think about, but he was kind of in a daze.

"Yeah." Livia nodded. "I totally agree." Then after a moment, she blurted out, "Does Lex stand for anything?" She waved her hand over his eyes. "Wake up." Livia said.

Lex straightened up, and looked at Livia. "Sorry. I was thinking. Honestly, I really don't know if it stands for anything. I think it's my real name, because before I came to camp, when I would get in trouble, my mom would call me Lex, not Lexington or anything like that," he said.

"You haven't seen your birth certificate?" Livia asked, her eyebrows arched in surprise. "I only have a fake one. It says," Livia looked off into the distance. Suddenly, her head snapped back into position. "Livia Ryann Malcolm. Born June 14th, 1997. Father; Ethan Malcolm. Mother; Isabel Malcolm. Born at home." Liv scratched her head. "Or I think so. My mom's Athena. You knew that though."

Lex laughed. "Did you memorize all that? Wow, I could not do that. I guess only Athena kids could do that," he said, laughing slightly. He looked at his guitar, which hid his bow and arrows. He was eager to play his guitar again. "Do you mind if I play the guitar?"

"Yeah. I have pretty good memory. Quell has it better though." Livia said, smiling. "No, not at all. You were just creeping me out before."

Lex laughed. He pulled out his guitar and starting strumming, deciding what to play. He went through a list of songs in his head, and chose one perfect for the moment. Well, sort of. Most likely. The beat sped up, and Lex starting singing:

"If I was your boyfriend, I'd never let you go.
I'mma take you places you ain't never been before.
So baby take a chance, or you'll never ever know.
I got money in my hands that I'd really like blow,"

Livia couldn't help smiling when Lex sung. After he had sung the last note, she took a deep breath. "Lex, listen.. Your a great guy and all..." Livia closed her eyes and let her head hang back. She lifted it up slowly, and breathed in. "But I have feelings for someone else." She said it slowly. Lex was a nice guy. But she had just met him. And she wanted to tell Jesse she had a crush on him before she started to like someone else. She just hoped he felt the same.

Lex sighed. He didn't have to cheat on Claire! Sure, Livia was nice, but he realized her preferred Claire. "Wait...Is it Jesse?" Lex said. He had heard Jesse ranting on and on about Livia, but Lex had never known who this Livia was. Now he does. He looked at Livia as if she was a whole new person.

Livia looked startled. "Why should I tell you?" She asked acusingly, but the look in her eyes said it all. She didn't like the way Lex was looking at her. Sure, he was really weird before, but now it seemed like she was the weird one. "Why did you guess that?" Livia asked, leaning back and looking Lex straight in the eye.

"He talks about you all the time. And you are all he ever talks about. Literally. I tried asking him where my bow was, and he rambled on about you." Lex said. He thought for a moment, then spoke again."Want me to tell him that you like him too? Or what?

"Hey Lex! Nice seeing you here, boyfriend. Or at least I thought so! Whats going on here?" Claire said angrily. "Goodbye Lex. See you later." Claire said walking out the door. She sat down crying. It was all just a big lie wasn't it? He probably never liked me.

"Wow. I didn't know that. He must really like me then." Livia said after a moment's hesitation. "But even if I did like him, I wouldn't want you to tell him." She said with a hint of distaste, and then paused for a second to put her hair back up, and she rubbed on her camp beads. "Before.. Were you singing Justin Beaver?"

Lex sighed as Claire left. He looked at Livia. "Yes I was. It has been stuck in my head. The kids in my cabin will not stop singing it. I apologize," he said. He stood up. "I better go, Liv. It was nice meeting you!" he said. He followed Claire out the door.
