ANYWAY onto what I actually had in mind.

I'm not sure how useful it would be, due to the set-up of Camp Half-blood, but it might make it easier for at least a small handful of newbies. I was thinking a guidance/mentor list. The list would be composed of older members who think they have a good grasp on the site that are willing to help out those new to it. A newbie could be appointed to/adopted by one of the mentors who will then be the person that they go to for questions and what not. It's also an easy way to make friends and a tensions reliever. CHB is a decently-sized site, and it could be overwhelming to just jump into the fray without any connections or friends. So maybe just start a thread with a list of people willing to help out, and stick it somewhere that newbies can read. And if the newbies want they can pm one of the people and they can become friends and yadayada blah-blah-blah. Like an ice breaker? Plus, if they have questions, they can pm the questions to their mentors.

It certainly isn't a necessary thing, as they can just go into chat and ask or pm a mod/admin. It just might make it easier for the admod team to get less questions. Plus the newbies make friends too. So yeah. Possible convenience. Might work, might not. On other sites it seems to work, but their layout is different, so who knows lol.

Uhhh, I guess? My high school is like, LOL SQUISH THE SOPHOMORES so I don't really know. But I guess like a guide to the site and stuff. If they have questions about character creation or whatever the newbies can go to their mentor and ask. And then maybe if they wanna go on chat, their mentor can introduce them to people and help them get comfortable with everything.

...Anyway, I think that this is a really cool idea. When I first became a member last summer, I really didn't know where to start off with. And, I didn't even really become an active member until the middle of summer. Even after that, I didn't know where, or what a chat box was until my computer got messed up, and I scrolled down to the bottem of the home screen, even then, I really didn't have any friends until a couple of weeks later, thanks to Rhyme, who helped me out a lot.


So, I'm up for this idea! Put my name on the list, if it's ever made!

Same Pip. I was surprisingly shy when I first joined because in retrospect, this place was huge and filled with members. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't at least a little bit intimidating. And as open as the moderators and admin are for questions, I still felt awkward asking any. So maybe more of a one-on-one experience to start would help, and then people can become more social with the rest of the camp. It's just someone to rely on so yeah. .3.

On another site, the way it goes is like this:

A thread is made and stuck somewhere to be seen. It explains the mentor system and has a list of the mentors names. And then the mentors fill out a small introduction. They're like, "Hi! I like this, this, this, and this. I'm a nice person and would love to help out a new member! Don't hesitate to pm me! .3. And then they have a status that's something like, "Do I have a newbie?" And they write yes or no depending on whether a newbie pm'd them asking them to be their mentor. And so the newbies can look down the list and see who is available, as well as who they think would be the best match for them.

AND THEN YOU MAKE FRIENDS AND STUFF.
