i feel like im getting shunned living down here

i open the door to basement and ask as a joke"If i turned on the lights down here would people down here hiss at me?". I continue down the stairs my cane hitting against each step in front of me to make sure i don't trip. "Is anyone even down here? Its like a grave yard down here."
