Charm and Innocence {Private to Uryuu}

I got on his shoulders laughing when I saw our first 'challengers'. Layna of course. And on the shoulders of some Ares guy. I laughed before telling Layna, "Sorry if you hit your head n your way down!"

"Bring it!" she said grabbing my forearm and trying to pull me off. I twisted my hand and grabbed her forearm. I grabbed her shoulder with my other hand and pulled her down. She fought pretty hard to stay on but as strong as her partner was he couldn't keep his balance with her falling over him. I laughed and shook my head. "See? I told you! I am a pro at this!"

I chuckled a bit. "Darling, I was born ready!" Actually, I was slightly more nervous about this one but I was confident we could do it.

The girl didn't hesitate to grab me and throw me to the right. I lost my balance for a moment and grabbed his shoulder to steady myself. I grabbed her braid and pulled her down. Braids didn't hurt that much when they were pulled. It was just loose hair that really hurt. I let go and grabbed her arm, I was absolutely determined

As the boy underneath started to stumble backwards, I shoved the girl back to throw them even more off balance. She screamed as she fell back and the boy fell on top off her. I shook my head and laughed. "Good one Kyle!" I said before letting myself fall backwards into the water. I swam around so I was standing in front of him and offered a high five. "I told you I never lose," I said matter of factly.

"Exactly!" I said with a nod and a smile. I stretched out onto my back and floated around a bit, mostly watching him. I laughed at the expression the water nymphs gave him. Well, at least they weren't like all over him. I could get really jealous incredibly fast and no one wanted to see that. With a yawn, I closed my eyes and hoped I didn't float into anything

I opened my eyes to see I had gotten a decent distance away from the others. I closed my eyes again and floated, enjoying the peace.

I'm not sure how much time passed, it could have been a minute or an hour. But I was suddenly being dragged down. I screamed and opened my eyes, drawing in a breath of water. I kicked viciously against who ever had pulled me under. Finally I resurfaced to see it was Layna and the Apollo, Ares, and Dionysus campers. I scowled and muttered, "Bunch of sore losers!" before swimming to the edge of the lake. I was still coughing as I sat down next to Kyle.

After a minute I could finally breathe right. I nodded and laughed at the puppy, petting him.

"Yeah, I'm fine! Stupid sore losers held tackled me and held me under water. Apparently the daughter of Aphrodite isn't allowed to win a chicken fight or something." I said with a sigh. It wasn't really that awful just that I had been caught off guard and inhaled a lot of water. And I was probably going to have a few bruises. Someone, probably the Ares guy, had elbowed me in the face.

I shook my head and laughed it off, which made me cough again. My lungs burned.

It wasn't too hard to figure out why Layna had agreed to it. She was still trying to get me to hook up with Kyle. "I swear that girl has issues!" I thought out loud again, without realizing it. Smooth, Kelyn! Real smooth I thought embarrassed. At least it wasn't out loud though

I turned even redder. That was supposed to stay in my head. He probably thought I was one of those weird people who talked to themselves about themselves.

"Layna. She likes trying to play matchmaker," I told him, hoping he didn't catch on to the match she was trying to make right now. I looked down at the puppy and laughed, rubbing the dog's tummy. He was just about the cutest thing ever. I had always wanted a dog.

I could not have been any redder than I was right then. "Well, right now, me and," I paused for a moment before finishing, "you." I looked up and saw him look toward the camp.

"Oh, do you have to go?" I asked him glad for the change of subject. I felt bad for keeping him away for so long. Standing up, I dried off with my towel and threw it back in my bag and put my shorts and borrowed tank top back on.

I couldn't ask him on a date now! How lame was that? Maybe I could ask him to the winter ball Layna had hinted about. It wasn't for a while still but it would be something.

"Well, I don't want to keep you from your work for too long if you have to. But, could I maybe come with you?" I asked shyly. I wasn't generally a shy person but I was afraid he would say no.

I decided I would tell him I liked him if he let me come with him. I wasn't really one to tell another I liked them in front of other people. Well, I had never really had a crush on anyone before. I had really high standards and I had just never found anyone that who met them all before Kyle.

I wondered what the chances of him liking me were. Probably very, very slim. I was pretty and all but he was rather smart and extremely talented and funny and sensitive. He had probably turned down a million girls already. All I had to my name was pretty, decently smart, and semi-talented.

I glanced at my dog. It whined, but dragged itself slowly out of the water and back toward the Hephaestus cabin. I looked at her hopefully, but it died quickly as I thought about the chance of her wanting to spend time with me. I coughed.

"Sounds great," I said, hoping she would come instead of ditching me. I scratched my bare chest a second. " I can meet you there if you want. I will be at the armory whenever, is if you don't want to hang around, you don't have to," I reminded her.

OOC: Actually Kyle is rather unintelligent. It's in his charrie profile.

“Yeah, let me go change and I will meet you there in a few minutes ok?” I said excitedly. Grabbing my bag I took off in a sprint towards my cabin. I needed something cute to wear. But I had mostly just brought jeans and plain tees. I had to have something!

I spent a good five minutes digging through my bag before I finally found a strapless patchwork dress that went down to about my mid-thigh. A bit short for this occasion though. It took another few minutes but eventually I found lavender denim shorts to wear under it. Perfect. Except for my hair...After a moment I decided to just leave it wet though.

With a smile on my face, I walked leisurely to the armory.

"Miss me?" I asked walking in moments later and sitting down at the table. I had decided that the next words out of my mouth would be asking him to go to the winter ball with me, no matter what. It made me incredibly nervous though. I had only been on two dates before and both of them had turned out very badly.

"Look, Kyle, I really like you...a lot..." I paused, nervous. "I-i wanted to know if m-maybe you would want to be my date to the winter ball...?" I said turning bright red

I was completely unaware that there was anyone else in the room. It was just him and me, as usual. His answer surprised me. I was so ready for him to tell me he already had plans and a date for that night. But he didn't. And he said he would love to go with me!

"Oh...really?" I said in mild shock. I was bright red and my eyes were changing a vivid shade of blue. I needed to change the subject, fast. "So, how about we meet here and we could walk to the ball together?" I said quickly.

"What are you working on now? Any new projects?" I asked interested. I loved hearing him talk about himself and his work

"Why there? I am unclaimed, remember? Still in Hermes," I said a bit sourly. I was getting a bit tired of the whole 'unclaimed and claimed' business. I didn't fit in with the Hermes children and I wasn't important enough for the Aphrodite kids to acknowledge. I was an outcast everywhere but here, with Kyle.

I remembered yesterday when one of my half sisters had mentioned being preferred by their mother because she had been claimed and visited, multiple times. I was so upset and I had barely gotten back to my cabin before I started crying.
