Walking So I don't Get Lost (Sni!!!)

Torin nodded and shrugged the bag on his back, just to make sure it was secure, before heading off. "So..." He bit his lip anxiously. "You're sure you know what you're doing?" He glanced over at her hesitantly, afraid she might get mad at him for asking again, but it was important. He'd still rather her be angry than dead. He put up his hands in surrender. "I... Don't think you're dumb or anything...I just don't want you dead. Things are easy to mix up out here."

Torin nodded, and forced a small smile. He walked and scanned the area around them. "That would make me feel so much better... I'm sorry. You're a grown girl... You can probably take care of yourself but... I don't know. I'm just worried?" His statement ended in a higher voice, sounding more like a question than a statement. The girl looked to be at least 16, and she had whipped out a knife earlier. She probably could defend herself, but... That was Torin. Nothing was fun, everything made him worry.

Torin began walking once more. He glanced around, searching for plants, occasionally looking back at his company. She...didn't seem like the social type. Unfortunatey, neither did he. That would be a problem. There was an awkward vibe around them, and it would've been silent if it weren't for the sounds of the forest. He chewed his lip anxiously. "So..."

Torin gasp when she fell and threw his arms out to catch her, being just a second too late. She had gone spinning downhill in what looked like a rather painful fashion. "Hey!" He half ran and half slid down the hill after her. "You alright?" His heart jumped in his chest. The images of this girl dying some horrible death a thousand different ways pumped through his head like gasoline into a car. He panted as he ran down the hill, then noticed something orange glowing below her. What wa--fire! "Get up!" He yelled in a hasty, panicked voice. "Up, up!"

Torin cursed under his breath and made his way quickly down the hill, managing not to fall because it wasn't that difficult. He locked his arms under the girl's and dragged her a few feet away from the disaster area, then set her down and leaped over her. He went and stomped on the small bundle of burning logs until it went out with a hiss and sizzle. He sighed.

There was a crackle of leaves as a young brunette girl emerged from the trees with a bag of jumbo marshmallows in one hand and a sharped stick in the other. She looked down at where her makeshift fire pit had been and then up at the boy who had crushed it. She recognized him as a volunteer at the infirmary. "Dude!" She exclaimed, gesturing angrily at the smoke rising from the toasted logs with her stuck, before rolling her eyes, letting out an exasperated sigh, and stomping away in the other direction.

Torin watched her back for a minute, with his jaw slacked and one eyebrow raised. Uhm, what just happened, and why was she going to roast marshmallows by herself in the middle of the day in a fire pit that she placed at the bottom of a steep hill? He shook his head and turned around to assess the damage. He glanced down at Essie with concern. "Are you alright?"

Torin grit his teeth and he analyzed her wounds. Her leg was burnt up and--her back? He moved to the other side of her and sighed. Her back as well, and badly. "Alright, hang on." He knelt down next to her and pulled his bag off, placing it on the ground. Lucky for her Torin was often prepared. Especially when going on hikes. As he sorted through the bag, he gently touched her shoulder to activate his pain-killing effect. Torin was comparable to a walking vicodin tablet, which was rather convenient in situations like these.

Torin smiled softly at the injured girl. "Son of Asclepius. I've got a bit of a pain-killing power. Comes in handy, yes?" He dug through his bag and took out a baggy of ambrosia squares. One was removed and handed to Essie. "Eat. Slowly, though. You're burned pretty badly. We'll be needing to go back to camp." He kept himself from sighing. So much for getting things done today. Well, productive things, anyway. Now he was just cleaning up Charlie's mess. Why did he always end up doing that? But hey, at least this time Charlie hadn't plunged knifes into his chest. "I'll carry you on my back, so I don't touch any of the wounds. Sound good?" He glanced up the hill. It had been easy getting down...Getting up didn't look so fun.

"Yeah, I'll be fine." He nodded, stepping in front of her and crouching so that she could climb onto his back. "It's not that far. You'll need to have your leg and back looked at, though." He wouldn't be able to bring has bag too, so he'd leave it here until he could pick it up again. So much for collecting herbs...so much for tea.

Torin hesitated. "Eh, I've seen worse..." Because before I got here I would shadow paramedics and I'm used to seeing burn victims and dead people. Of course I've seen worse. "But you should get it fixed as soon as possible." He added, not wanting her to mistake his previous statement as her being okay. He rose and started bounding up the hill, trying to keep up decent speed while still being gentle with Essie on his back.

He grit his teeth at the stress of the situation. This wasn't good. "Well, maybe. People react differently to my touch. Like I said, it's a vicodin effect. Some people get drowsy when they use vicodin, some people get a little dizzy, some people just go numb. Kind of differs with each person. So, it could be your wound, or it could be that you're on my back. Can you feel anything? Aside from sudden exhaustion?" He was back up the hill and making a run for the camp clearing.
