Sneaking out with someone... {Panama:)}

I got all the stuff I needed to sneak out. My wallet, my cell phone, my skateboard, the turned into a keychain, and a bag from Adidas*. I had a couple of minutes lefts, so I slipped my converse back on and ran out to Thalia's tree.

I had left as soon as I had what I needed so I could get my car. I didn't like keeping it too close to the camp, but it had to be with in walking distance. I pulled up to where the where Thalia's Tree is and saw Kori had just arrived. "Down here," I said just loud enough for her to hear.

I saw him and ran towards the figure in the distance. I took my keys out. Yeah, I was going to drive my Civic. I haven`t driven is soooo long. `You going to drive or am I going have to do it.`I asked.

I looked at her for a minute. "Do you want to drive?" I asked. It wasn't a big deal to me who drove. "What kind of car do you have?" I asked. I had been wondering what kinda car she liked.

“A 2011 Honda Civic, with the best stereo system, ever.” I smirked at the last part. Most of the time, I cranked it up and blasted music through the speakers. Not too loud, but still loud. The speakers and the deck combined cost me around $850. Hey, I was a daughter of the god of music. I expect a decent stereo system, and when I say ‘decent’ I mean, really, really, awesome. Of course, when I grow up and earn my own money, I can get a better one… if by then I don’t already have one of the best.

“So, which one are we driving?” I asked. I was curious to see what car he had too… I’m guessing it’s fixed to be another word for awesome would be… rad. Yeah. I’m guessing that his ride would be ‘rad’. New word. I waited for his answer.

"Well I have a 79' Corvette Stingray. I may not have the best sound system, but I put a lot of secret gadgets in it. Mostly hidden storage, but it also has a flamethrower on the front. I guess mine is more of a battle car," he said. "I also custom built the engine so I didn't have to sacrifice mileage for speed," I finished. "I'll let you pick. It doesn't matter much to me," I told her smiling.

“Though the sacrificing mileage for speed part really tempts me, I don’t want a speeding ticket. So I’m going to go with my car for today.” I said. It should be illegal to let me in a car like that. I swear, last time that happened, I almost killed myself. I was just lucky to not crash. My car was parked along the road somewhere in long island. I knew where it was, it was just that I covered it with the mist so that I wouldn’t get a parking ticket. I really don’t want one, the ticket here were freakishly expensive.

"Sounds good to me," I said, laughing a little. "Never really dealt with tickets much. Then again cops out west won't even bother chasing you if they don't think they can keep up," I told her. "So. Where are we heading first on our little expedition?" I asked, eagerly. I always got a little excited when I was sneaking out.

Don't quote on the thing about west coast cops. I spent all of two weeks out there.

Dude, have you SEEN west coast? They have like speeding cameras EVERYWHERE. XDXDXD

“How about we get the car first, then we decide while I go and fuel up? Because I’m running low here.” I said as we approached the parking spot. We got in. I sat in the driver’s seat. It was nice to be able to drive around now. I let the car warm up for a second, it was best for me to do that, since it hasn’t been used for a long time. I turned on the radio and set it to a radio station from Vancouver. The Beat 94.5 (OOC: yeah, its real and meh favourite station) I got some Hephaetus kids to mess around with it a bit a while back.

I followed her to her car and took a good look at it. "Nice wheels," I commented. This was probably one of the more impressive new cars. I didn't really pay attention to anything that wasn't from Chevy. I listened to the music as the car heated up. "So, you know any places in town to hang out? I recommend staying away from the empire state building for obvious reasons," I told her, wondering if she knew the city as well as some of the other campers.

"I was going to get a 2011 Chevy Camaro, but my mom said that I had to drive responsibly until I'm 18. Then I get a Camaro. But thanks." I paused. "Are you kidding me? I know NYC like the back of my hand. I can practically drive around Manhattan with my eyes closed." I told him. A bit exaggerated, but it was true. I grew up in Manahttan and I ran away and lived in the streets of NYC for a couple of months. Of course I knew NYC well.

I smiled at her exaggeration. "Well I know the city like the inside of a hell hounds mouth," I said jokingly, also exaggerating. I'd been there a few times and knew some good restaurants, but I could get lost easily from one wrong turn. "So where do you suggest we go first?" I asked. "I mean we have all night so anywhere's fine as long as we keep track of time," I pointed out.

"I don't know. What kind of things do you have in mind for today? I have no idea what I wanna do." I asked him. I would like to go shopping or browsing around for speakers and stuff, but it was polite to ask. I would really like to go to the Empire State Building and tour around, don't ask me why. I just want to.

I thought for a moment, about what I remembered about the city. "Tough spot to put me in. Most of the fun I've had in New York was in the down town area, and some how I doubt stealing parts out of cars would be your version of fun," I told her. "Uh... I don't know, is there like an ice rink or something?" I asked unsure.

I smiled at his comment. "What? You want me to drag you to 5th to shop?" I asked him jokingly. "I know this really cool place where they have the best gelato. We can go there, my treat." I told him. I remembered how I went there with my half brother once. He left camp half blood 3 years ago. I haven't talked to him since.

I acted like I had to think about that. "Well, I'm okay with that. Just one condition though. I pay," I told her. "This is non-nogotiable," I continued. I smiled a little waiting for her response.

I raised an eyebrow. Most people would just accept the fact I was paying. I guess he was nice enough to do that. "Okay fine. But I'm paying for the dinner." I told him. I smirked. I drove along the highway to NYC. It was a half hour drive to get to Manhattan. So I decided to start a conversation. "So, where are you from?" I asked.

"Sacramento at first. From there me and my mom traveled for awhile until I ended up here. She went back to the west coast after making sure I got here safe," I told her. For a second I thought maybe that was more than she cared to know, but so far she seemed pretty open minded so I figured I was okay. "What about you?" I asked. "Where are you from?"

"I was born on the upper east side. Pretty much raised on the Upper East Side. I can't stand my step family, so I stay here." I told him. I could've gone on and on about that pert of my life, but I decided to leave it at that, I didn't want to bore him.

I raised an eyebrow when she mentioned her step family. I decided not to ask about it though, it seemed like a touchy subject. I could be wrong of course. "So was it rough growing up there or do I have my sections of New York mixed up again?" I asked just trying to make small talk.

"Well, it was tough growing up with my step family, but not tough financially. Financially, we had way more than we needed. The Lower East Side is where the poorer people lived. The Upper East is the exact opposite." I told him. I tried not to sound like I was bragging though. Then he wouldn't think I was a regular person. Like most people.

I smiled. "I would have loved to grow up like that. Guys like me usually brag about growing up in the tough neighborhoods, like it's a badge of honor," I told her. I hadn't even realized what I'd said until it was out. "Uh... sorry, I didn't mean to lay that on you," I apologized.

I smiled at his thoughtfulness. It was rare someone said that to me. "No, it's okay. People living under tough conditions are still people, and they have thoughts too. Trust me, I know how to be through tough times, I ran away from home for a while." I said. As soon as that came out, I kinda regretted it. He probrably thought that I was bombarding him with stuff.

"Aren't we just two peas in a pod," I said smiling. "Wow did I really just say that. Pretty sure that was old when my mom was my age," I said laughing. "So this place we're going, is it like a nice place or a homey place?" I asked.

"Kinda in between." I said as I pulled in front of the cafe. They had the coffee house setting, but they sold gelato. "And yes, you did say that." I said smiling. I pulled the key out and unlocked the door to the driver's seat.
