I entered the library as quietly as I could, but it didn't work very well, considering my heels were making their distinct click-clack sound the whole way through. I tried to ignore any stares that came my way, and headed straight for the books about armour, weapons and general blood and gore. Yuck.

It wasn't that I wanted to read about this kind of thing. Never. I'd rather bribe the enemy with a free guaranteed-to-get-all-girls-swooning-even-if-you-only-have-one-eye makeover, but I wasn't stupid enough to think that any monster that might cross my path would actually take that deal. And since I was new to the world of demigods and quests (although not new to actually being a demigod) and had learned that demigods rarely lived to see their wedding day, I had decided that maybe learning how to fight wouldn't be the worst thing to do in my free time, starting with identifying what could kill things, and what would just nick them in the eye.

Seeing a book that looked promising enough, and was thankfully in ancient Greek, I grabbed it off the high shelf (being in heels did have it's advantages, although being in a dress did not, making me look around twice in case there were perverts nearby) and took it to one of the comfortable couches in one of the most abandoned corners of the library. I could only imagine the humiliation I'd have to go through if someone found me reading about this kind of thing.

I walked to the weapons section of the library. I came to just relax. I wasn't in the mood for reading so I brought my iPod. I walked to my favorite corner of the library where people rarely go. There I saw an Aphrodite girl reading a book. This was a first. I looked around library to see if any other Aphrodite girls were there laughing at her because this was a truth or dare thing. No one was there so I said Hi, I'm Marella. Are you busy because I can leave if you want me to. I stood away from her just in case she freaked out on me. These Aphrodite girls could have quite a tantru. No one would like to be around for those, they can get dangerous.

I froze in the middle of reading about Imperial Gold, hearing a voice talking to me. Darn it. I had been found. There went my reputation, right down the drain. I hoped it wasn't one of my sisters. I hated to say it, but the Aphrodite girls could be downright mean - myself not withstanding.

I looked up, and saw a girl standing a little ways away from me, as if frightened to be standing close to me in case I blew up. Wow. My siblings must have been famous for these kinds of things.

"No, no, it's ok," I said hastily in reply to her question. She was listening to an iPod and wasn't one of my half-sisters, so it was okay, I guessed. "Is this- is this your spot?"

Oh thank gods it wasn't one of the snooty girls! This one seemed nice, even though the heels could be some what intimidating. This girl looked like she actually wanted to read. I don't own it. I don't really come to this area much either so no. You can stay here if you don't mind me. I won't be a nuisance. I began to walked to a couch to sit down and began to get curious. I wanted to know why she was here. Reading a book about weapons. If the Aphrodite girls wanted to read the book would most likely be Twilight. I didn't want to ask her just yer=t why she was here though.

"Oh, I don't mind," I said hurriedly. "I'm sure you aren't a nuisance at all." I smiled at her. "I'm Evadne, daughter of Aphrodite." I stuck my right hand out, while using my free hand to mark the book with a bookmark. I'd much rather talk than read.

I put out my hand to shake hers and say "Hi Evadne, I'm Marella. Daughter of Athena. I can tell you're a daughter of Aphrodite. I looked at her and then the book a couple times. I noticed it probably looked weird so I stopped and blushed. Not to be rude or anything but what are you reading??

I wondered whether that was a compliment, her being able to tell I was a daughter of Aphrodite. Shaking my head, I beamed anyway, although it was a bit sheepish. "Um...weapon book," I admitted, slightly reluctantly. "It's not too interesting, but it has a lot of information, and..." I trailed off, blushing. "Anyway. What are you doing in the library on such a nice day, Marella?" Not that I really should be talking, but whatever. I shrugged, smiling.

Should I answer her question truthfully? To anyone outside the Athena cabin it probably sounds nerdy. Uh....well I actually come here on a daily basis. To sketch out some building ideas and read. Today I didn't really want to do anything so I just brought my iPod. I looked at the book she had. I thought about how I could help her with finding an even better book. I didn't want to sound pushy so I didn't mention anything.

"Sounds like something a child of Athena would get up to," I nodded. It didn't sound nerdy, per se...it just sounded incredibly smart, for someone like me, who wouldn't be able to tell if a blueprint was upside down or not. "This book is actually kind of uninteresting...are you able to recommend any that word it in a way I can actually comprehend without going over it five times?" I grinned sheepishly.

I thought you'd never ask!! Evadne didn't think that I came here every day was nerdy. Any other Aphrodite girl would. That book is pretty hard. More for the people who are intermediate with their weapons and understand the "language." Follow me. I brought her over to the weapons section and pulled out a book. It was "All About Weapons for Beginners" This book used to be Ancient Greek but they wrote it in English too. Have you studied a lot of Greek? This book will probably be much easier to comprehend if you haven't. Oh and by the way are you new to the camp?? I was just wondering, hopefully not sounding too pushy. I haven't seen her around much so I was just guessing. On the other hand I don't hang out much with the Aphrodite cabin much so I wouldn't know. I handed the book to her.

I blushed. It figured that I'd pick the book most likely too hard for me to understand. I followed Marella to the Weapons section, and watched as she picked out a book. I saw the cover, and felt stupid when I saw the 'for Beginners' part. Yep. I was also blind too. I should have gotten that one; it was obvious this one would be easier for me to understand.

Marella asked me a question, and I shook my head. "No, I haven't. It sometimes rearrangse itself in my head, but I can't understand it fluently. I'm better with French - you know, the language of love and all." She handed me the book. "And yeah, I'm new. Came yesterday, and I already love it here. It's infinitely better than my grandparents' place." I shuddered. "Anyway, thank you!" I gave her a smile and began walking back to the comfortable lounge in the corner, wondering if she would follow. I didn't mind, but there were probably more interesting things one could do than hang out with one of the Aphrodite girls in a library.

I stood against the wall. I was wondering if she thought I was going to leave. I was going to in a minute. Yeah it's probably better than your grandparents. Oh and about the Greek, it does take some practice but soon enough you'll get used to it. It took me 3 months to learn the basics. Now, to me Greek comes easily. But for the others it takes a while. The Aphrodite girls are lucky, they know French too. I was always jealous because of that. Instead of being born knowing 2 languages you know 3. You're lucky. I wondered if coming here was hard for her. It was for me. Camp will be good for her I thought, we're all going through the same thing.

"I hope I will," I sighed. "Half of the books here are in Greek, and I'm pretty sure it'll be a handy thing to know if I want to live to adulthood. And there must be some interesting books here - a fashion one or two - that's in Greek." I wondered if they had magazines in Ancient Greek. The ones I had seen my sisters reading were in English. For a second, a strange image of a copy of Ancient Greek Vogue with a nymph on the front modelling a chiton floated into my mind, and I stifled a giggle.

"And believe me, it's hard knowing French. I mix everything up between English and Greek and French. You'd be glad to have more room in your brain." I pondered on that thought. "Maybe that's why most Aphrodite children are airheads. Because they can't really spare much room in their brain from the pressure of the three languages." And then I realised how stupid that comment was, and groaned. "Anyway, if you're going, I might see you around camp, Marella, yeah?"

Yeah, it takes a little time to learn it. You could always come by my cabin if you need help. With like anything. I really meant that. Half the people I tell that to never come to me and then they regret it. I'm the greatest thing that will ever happen to them. I thought then laughed at myself. Some of your sisters and brothers are airheads because, um well I stuttered trying to find the right thing to say. I continued with They just don't care. If you know what I mean. They think they don't need to be any smarter. Especially when the girls are around boys I groaned at the thought. Just don't get me started. Anyway just don't act like an air head. Please! It won't be good for you. I felt like I was lecturing her so I stopped. I stood up straight and said Well it was nice meeting you, I'll see you around right? I really did want to see her again. She seemed pretty nice.Even though I didn't see why she would wear heel's at camp. No, idea. Even though I was smart I just couldn't think about why she was wearing them.

"I'll definitely come by," I promised. And I really meant it. I had met a few people at camp so far, but no one that I thought I might be able to have a long term relationship with. I could start a friendship with Marella. She was nice, smart, pretty...pretty much what I wanted to be. I mean, thanks to my mother, I had the last one down-pat, but the rest...not so much. "And I understand what you mean about my brothers and sisters. I know what being an airhead can cost you." I winced at a flashback of a painful memory. "It was nice meeting you too, though. Thank you for the help. Bye!" I waited for her to leave, smiling at the thought of a new friend, before I turned back to my book.

Your welcome. Have fun with that book! Bye! Evadne was really nice. I hope I would see her again. For an Aphrodite girl she was really nice. I think we would have fun together. I put my iPod in my pocket so no Hermes kids could steal it or hack it or anything of that sort. I couldn't be more careful with them around. I thought about telling Evadne about the Hermes kids but I didn't want to scare her. I put that thought aside and waved one more time. I turned around and walked away humming a random song. It was an interesting day at the library. Funner than usual. Not that the library wasn't fun. I walked out of the library and into the mid-day sun and let out a happy sigh.

OOC-That was really fun. It'd be nice to RP with you again :) I might PM you if I want to. You can also PM me.
