People get put into cabins depending on their godly parent or if there claimed or not. If you have a son of Apollo, wound't it be confusing to him in the Hades cabin? Yes, thats why he would go into the Apollo cabin. If your character isn't clamied(I'm not 100% sure on this) but I think that they still go into the Hermes cabin.

Yes. The unclaimed go in the Hermes cabin, while the children of Minor Gods that don't have cabins reside in the Hera cabin.
