Misty's Destination

I walked up the hill, knowing I was almost there. "Almost! Just a bit more, guys," I said to mjy two cats, Feather and Storm. They had been my traveling companions since I was 10. I sat just past the large pine tree, to rest. It had been a long journey here from Colorado.

Amabel was on patrol around Thalia's pine for the day. She was just walking back to the tree when she saw the girl leaned up against the tree. "Hey!" She called, jogging over to the girl. "Hey, you alright?"

"Yeah. I'm fine," I said. "I'm Misty. Misty Breeze. What's your name?" I asked. It was not an easy journey to get here. Feather and Storm were each on one of my shoulders now as I stood up.

I smiled down at Misty. "Amabel Weaver." I looked at the cats on her shoulder and extended my hand out to her, to help her up. "Where did you come from? We need to get you to Chiron."

"I'm from Colorado," I said. "I've been on my way for some time. I don't even know how long. I think around two years. My dad told me to find this place one day, after a monster thing attacked us. He gave me the address and I've been coming ever since," I said.

I whistled low. "Wow. Well, come on kid, we'll get you rested up and get you sorted, k?" I smiled wide at her, brushing a random strand of bright red hair from my face. "You thirsty?"

"A little," I admitted. I was hungry too, but I didn't mention it. I was used to going on little food and drink for the past long time. "And sure, let's go."

I helped the girl up, eying her cats warily. "Do you want some food? Its almost lunch time." I led her down the hill towards the big house. A couple kids eyed the weary girl and myself, but I ignored them until we got to the Big House.

"Wow this palce is pretty cool," I said. I smiled at Amabel, the girl who had found me at the tree. "Wait. Chiron? Like, THE Chiron?" I asked. "The one from all those awesome stories?"

I laughed lightly. "So, you're familiar with Greek Mythology? Good, this will be easier to explain. Yes, the Chiron. Trainer of Heroes, Centaur, Pain in the butt. That Chiron." I smiled as said centaur stepped out the doorway and looked down at the two of us.

"Cool!" I said. I believed in Greek mythology. Of course I did! Who couldn't believe in all of that awesomeness? Especially if your classes sometimes focused on it. "Hello," I sad quietly to the centaur.

Chiron smiled, "Hello, child." He looked at me. "Is she new?" I nodded. "Yes sir. Can we get some nectar for her? She came here from Colorado." Chiron pulled a small glass from his satchel and handed it to the girl. "Don't drink too much at once, ok?"

"All right," I said. I took a sip at a time. I didn't finish the glass, but put it down after about four sips, because I felt fine. "What do I do?" I asked. I wondered what Amabel had meant by sorted.

"Well, for now, we'll take you down to Hermes cabin so you at least have a place to stay. You can get a sleeping bag and stuff down at the camp store." I turned, then stopped. "How old are you?"

"I'm twelve," I said. "Why?" Ia sked. I had a feeling my age was important for something, but hwat? I just waited for an answer.

"All kids have to be claimed by their parents by 13. It's a law." I nodded to myself and started down the steps, motioning for her to follow. "So your father's mortal? Do you know you mother?"

"No. But I do know that... wait Im 13 now. I've been journeying since before I turned 13... I was on my way since May. My birthday is in June. I was twelve when I left..." I said, trailing off. "Does that mean I should be claimed?"

I looked down at her, just as confused as she was. "You should get claimed tonight at the bonfire." I shook my head a little. I laughed a bit, smiling at her. "What do you like to do for fun, besides run away from home?"

"I din't run. My father sent me to comne here. It wasn't safe, he said. I like to dress up, wear makeup, play with my cats, look at cute boys, and shop. But I'm a nice girl." I said. My cats had caught up with us, and niow they were back on my shoulders.

Great, another Aphrodite kid she thought to herself. It was all too evident. "Alright, well, I need to grab Emilio, my lizard. You can follow me or I can just drop you off at the Hermes Cabin." She smiled.

"I'll go to the Hermes cabin," I said. My cats purred at the thought of meeting more people. I was a clever girl. I aced most of my tests. I only ever fauiled one class - Math. I had a lot of fun studying for Latin.
