The Quest to New York {private}

My only thoughts were now of Kat. I couldn't help spying about her. I shook my head at Seth and looked to Izzy for Seth's answer.

I shook my head. "We can't do that. Kat's in there. Could we try to Iris-Message her?" I asked Kat. I dug a drachama out of my pocket.

"It could be risky," I muttered. "But one of our only chances." I paused. "We need a rainbow!" I said in a half groan.

I looked through my bag and got out a water bottle. "Water and light. We need a spray thing or mist."

I thought for a moment. I looked up and saw a fan. "Perfect.

I followed Izzy's gaze toy he fan. "We need to make it spittle through it. Not dropping. And the lights need to go on." I said.

I nodded. I flipped the switch. The lights turned on. I thought for a moment. "You think I could clib and dump the water on the fan from uptop?" I asked.

The ceiling was high. "I dont know," I said. "It could be very difficult. It's pretty high. I mean it's possible, but it would be hard."

I shrugged. "Why not try? This could save Kat." I started to climb up the racks and shelves. I shakily opened the water bottle and poured it over the fan. Mist and a rainbow formed. "Go!"

I really hoped she was in a good mood ad didn't have many messages to deliver. "Oh Iris, goddess of the Rainbow," I chanted. "Please accept our offering." i swallowed hard. "Katherine Jones."

The rainbow shimmered. Kat appeared in the mist. She was in a hall, sneaking somewhere. "KAT!" I whispered loud enough for her to hear.

I jumped so suddenly as someone called name. I was going crazy, I thought. I was hallucinating about my friends, feeling guilty that i couldn't get them in and I had left them. But my name was called again and I whirled around pointing my sword at my friends...kind of. And Iris message shimmered before me. I looked down the hall both ways. No one was here. "Oh, gods guys, I am so sorry!"

I raised an eyebrow. "Where are you?"

"You know," I said. "I may as well ask your that question. Where am I? Well, I am...I really don't know." I slumped my back against the wall behind me and fell to the floor.

"Kat," I breathed. "Are you Okay?" I demanded. She looked up at the message.

"I'm sorry I left," she repeated.

I smiled at Kat. "It's okay. We would had done the same thing." I told her.

I waved my hands. "Any land markings so when we go in there we'll find you?" I asked.

"I got lost the second I stepped in," I told them. "Monsters are crawling around this place. I have almost been caught twice. Making markings would have been smart." o drove my sword along the wall I was leaning on. "There. Marking one."

I looked at the marking. "What happened as soon as you got in? And how did you get past all those monsters?" I asked Kat. I need to find an arrow I could use so those monsters will die.

"I uh ran," I said glancing around nervously. "Like really fast. I was surprised it actually worked this time. I mean it works when I'm in serious situations but not all the time."

I wondered if the others understood what she was talking about. I knew everything about Kat and I was a little startled at first at whatshe said.

"Kat, how far away are you from the door?" I asked Kat. If she was far enough, I could shoot that grenade arrow.

I looked at Kat. "How many monsters to you estimate are in there?"

"I have no idea Seth," I said. "I couldnt really keep track of how far away I am. I didn count how many turns. I didn't do anything like that. I don't think okay?" I sighs desperately. Really afraid to answer the next question.

I held my breath as Kat began to get frustrated. Something was wrong. I waited for her to answer the next question. But didn't really know if I wanted to know. "There is a good two hundred," she said softly. I almost let my hand slip off the door I was so surprised.

I looked at Bella and Isabella. "I think we have to use that arrow." I said. I was looking through my bag to see what other arrows I had.

I shook my head. "We can't. Kat's in there." Suddenly, Seth face lit up.

I heard something down the hall. I looked up to see a shadow creeping around the corner. It was something large. "Katherine?" It said. I stumbled back. That was my mother. I shook it off. No it's not she was killed years ago by a..."Cyclopse." I muttered thn spat out a curse. "Guys, I kind of have to go. I'll meet up with you guys later I promise. Do whatever you have to do, just, well, a little help would be nice." I waved my hand through the shimmering image of my friends. I had time to see Seth's face light up.

I pulled out four arrows. They had a little fragile glass jarr attached to the arrow. Inside the jar was a purple gas. Isabella climbed down and saw the arrow. "What is that?" She asked. I smiled. "Knock out gas. Once the arrows hit something, the glass will shatter and the gas will knock out anything within a 30 foot radius. Had some kid at the aromy make it for me. Only knocks out monsters."

Great, I thought sarcastically. Just great. What kind of trouble will Kat get in next? I sighed. "You know, that just might work," I said, "No, screw that comment, do it. It'll work." I was getting anxious now. I wanted to go kick some monster butt right now. I havn't had a good pay back session with a hellhound in a while.

I grinned. "Alright let's do this!" I shouted. I loaded my bow with one of the arrows. I noddded to Isabella and she opened the door wide. The monsters looked at us. I grinned and said something I will not repeat. They looked startled. I shot the arrow. As soon as it hit the ground, the glass broke. The purple gas came out. Soon monsters started to drop to the ground asleep. More monster came and I shot the rest of the arrows. "Let's find Kat!"

I raised my eyebrows at Seth, but nodded and agreed. "Let's go guys," I said flatly. I mean, who wouldn't be nervous about going into a monster base in the center of a mall that was crawling with monsters? Well, I'm pretty sure I would have started shaking, but I rememberd this was no longer for the gods. It was to save our friend who was running away from monsters all over the halls in here.
