Bella's Gone (Devin's Quest to save Bella. Private to Wolfers)

"W-We need to get back to the other two.." I muttered as looking up. "Your shot.." I muttered as seeing Bella clutching her shoulder. "Come on. Millin will carry you to the car. I'll just run.." I muttered as holding myself up with Bella's non-injured shoulder. I watched as Millin barked and grew into his gigantic dog size. "Go, I'll meet you.." I said as holding my stomach even more. I felt as the blood dripped down my hand. I slowly stood up flinching in pain. I looked at Bella and leaned in towards her. "I love you.." I muttered as putting my lips against her. I gently pulled away and ran down the hill.

"Then I'm running with you," I said. He kissed me, and I kissed him back. "I love you too, but I'm not leaving you," I said. I picked up my dagger, and I ran and followed Devin, keeping a steady pace. I didn't falter with my speed, and kept my breathing normal, despite my immense pain. Millin was back to his normal size, and following us. I gripped my shoulder, trying not to yell in pain. I was worried about Devin, getting shot in the stomach. I only got arm injuries. A small tear rolled down my cheek as we ran.

I ran swiftly through the winds as Bella and I ran through the streets of Chicago. I bit my lip as Bella didn't take the ride with Millin, and ran with me. I wanted to argue, but instead just let it slip. I felt as more blood kept gushing out of my wound. I stopped at the corner of the 12th block we've ran. "I-it burns.." I muttered as looking at my wound. The feeling of the metal of the little bullet in my body. Not a pleasant feeling alright. I looked up at Bella who had a tear rolling down her cheek. "Hey, it's alright." I said with a slight smile. I stood up and gently wiped away her tear with my index finger. But one thing I realized was that I too also had tears rolling down my cheeks.

We stopped, and I took a deep breath. I heard Devin mentioned it burned, and I nodded in agreement. Although he told me it was alright, I knew it wasn't. How could this happen? Were the fates trying to tell me something? Every-freaking-day, someone got hurt. Devin wiped my tear away, and I noticed he had tears too. I put my index finger out, and stopped his tears. Were the fates out to show me I didn't belong with him? Was I destined to be with someone else? No, I thought. I loved Devin. Or was there a possibility I loved someone else, a small voice in my head said.

I panted as I turned the corner of the block heading to the car. I watched as Millin ran up to the car where Mia and Katro were sleeping at. I ran over to a free wooden table and layed down carefully on it. "Why is it! That every time someone is with me, they get hurt!" I yelled hitting the wood below me. I ignored the pain and just closed my eyes. I wanted everything to end. Everything I had done in the past, haunted me as I sunk back deeper into my thoughts. "Am I fit to be in a world like this?" I muttered as barely breathing. I listened in the distance as Katro came over yelling something I couldn't hear. I just ignored everything and wanted the pain and all to end.

I came to a picic table, and collapsed. Yelling in pain at my left arm. That's when I heard yelling, and I blacked out, muttering something like, "Devin..."

I was awoken from my sleep by Millin. "Hi Milli-" I was cut off, by Devin yelling. Oh darn, I thought. I got out of the car, and noticed Devin and Bella both collapsing on tables. Both of them were bleeding, and I guessed it was a gun wound. I ran over to the both of them, noticing Bella had gone unconscious That wasn't a good sign. Devin was still conscious. "What happened?," I asked, beginning to examine his wound, being gentle.

As I was unconscious, I kept watching that scene over and over again. Chris kissing me, and me punching him. Why? I may never know. I tried to turn my dream to something else, but to no avail. I regained consciousness, with a cold sweat. I watched as Mia inspected Devin's wound.

Look at what you did to yourself man. That's was your fault. You asked for this, a voice said in my head. "Hahaha! You think I asked for this. Wait, am I going nuts?" I said slightly laughing. I looked over at Mia who was looking at wounds. "What's happening to me?" I asked alarm in my voice. That is what I'm talking about Devin. The things you've done in the past. All those horrible things, the voice said again. "Shut up!" I yelled shaking my head. I looked around feeling nothing now. I looked over at Bella who was barely conscious. "Bella.." I muttered. You want to come home now Devin? A female voice asked this time. I sighed and looked up at the sky. "Is it time?" I muttered not wanting anyone to hear me.

"Don't go into shock on me now Devin," I said strictly. I ran to my backpack, and picked out some long, skinny tweezers. "The bullet isn't that far in, as far as I can tell. You are really lucky Devin, if it would have gone in further, it would have damaged your large intestine. I can probably pull it out, with these tweezers if you'll let me. Then, I'll be able to heal it pretty easily, as it only damaged tissue. Your choice," I said. I looked back at the wound. I bit my fingernail, and then instructed him to lay down.

I clutched my arm, and tried to focus on the stars. I closed my eyes, hoping to ease the pain.

"Bella, your injury can wait for a couple of minutes, right?," I asked. I watched as she nodded, and I turned my attention back to Devin. That's when I said a quick prayer to dad, and waited for Devin to make his decision.

Look at what you did all this time Devin! I mean, look at what you did to your loved ones! This is your fault you know, the same voice said in my head. I shook my eyes as Mia started to do something. "What?" I muttered as she said something I couldn't really manage to hear. I felt as pain shot through my body! I yelled in pain and just relaxed my body to let all the pain do it's work. I gave up and payed the price. That's when I went under.

"Okay, then I'll get that bullet out," I said. I grabbed a near by flashlight, and tried to be as careful as possible. I gently tried to avoid any tissue, and got a hold on the bullet. I carefully pulled it out, glad I did't make it hit anything. my body shaking. I was extremely nervous by the time I pulled it out. I wiped the sweat off of my forehead, and put the bullet on my thigh. I said another prayer to dad, and began the healing. "Heal," I said, as I put a gentle hand on his wound. I about passed out, as much energy I had put into that healing. I fell off the bench, but got back up. "Bella, it's your turn now," I said. I got no response, and I rushed over to Bella. I felt her pulse, and it was extremely slow. About 3 beats a minute, I guessed. "Devin, she doesn't look good," I said.

I felt as slowly the pain went away and the voice went away. I felt as sweat ran down the edge of my forehead. I started to laugh aloud very loud for no apparent reason. I shook my head in confusion. "What?" I asked as rubbing my head slightly. I listened in the distance as Mia said something. I slapped the side of my head to get back into reality a little. "Bella..." I muttered. I stumbled off the table and fell on my back slightly laughing. "Oh man! I am such a wreck!" I yelled through my laughs. I awkwardly stood up facing Bella who was lying on the ground I think. "Mia, what's happening to me?" I asked as rubbing my head a little harder. I stumbled many times as I tried my best to get over to Bella's side. "N-n-no.." I muttered touching her shoulder.

I felt her pulse, and it got even slower. I felt her shoulder with the wound. I think it might have hit a very essential vain. "...Wait..." I moved her shoulder up, and looked. "Devin, the bullet went straight through her shoulder. And, honestly... I don't think she's going to make it. Not even my healing would help," I said with tears stinging my eyes as I looked at the now fragile body of Bella. I shook my head. If I would have gotten to her first, this wouldn't have happened. "I'm going to try anyway," I said. I held her shoulder in my hand, and said a prayer to dad. I said, "Heal Bella please..." I watched with faint vision as blood went back into her body, and the skin closed up. My knees buckled, and I almost fainted. "Feel her heartbeat..." I said before closing my eyes.

I barely watched as Mia did the voodoo magic like all Apollo kids do on Bella. "Dad, h-he-help her.." I muttered as looking up at the sky. I felt as a tear ran down my cheek. "A-Apollo.." I muttered. "Please.." I muttered. I watched tears in my eyes as Mia did something on Bella one last time. I watched as bright light appeared from her hands. "Whoa." I said as catching Mia before she fell completely. "You did great.." I muttered. I stood up carefully feeling the pain and walked over to the table with Mia in my arms. "Thanks.." I muttered as gently laying her down. I clutched my stomach and walked back over to Bella to see how she was doing. I knelted down beside her and waited till she awoke. "Please.." I muttered as setting my hands on my knees.

As I stayed in some weird limbo while I was out, I looked back at my life. All the way back to Mexico, to the memories I had lost of Devin. The basketball courts, and the beach. I smiled, looking back at them. Then, I saw what was currently happening. I watched as Devin got healed, and I was once again happy. As long as he got to live, I was completely fine with dying. I saw as Mia went over to my almost-dead body, and tried her best to heal me. I looked away, not wanting to see Devin cry if I didn't make it. At least Devin was the last person who held me, I thought. That's when I was yanked from my limbo, and back in my body.

I felt as my eyelids fluttered open, bringing me back to reality. My vision cleared up, and I saw Devin. I put a hand to his cheek. "D-Devin?," I asked quietly. I coughed, my mouth dry. A tear ran down my cheek, as I tried a faint smile. I was really weak, I realized, as I tried to sit up and fell back.

I closed my eyes listening to the calm of everything. "D-Devin.." I heard very faintly. I quickly snapped my eyes open to find Bella with her hand against my cheek and her eyes open. "B-Bella.." I muttered as holding her hand against my cheek. I watched as she about fell back, but I made it just in time to catch her. "Whoa there.. you need to rest. Come on, I'll carry you.." I muttered as grabbing her. I got a good position on here and carefully stood up not trying to injure myself even more. I walked to the car and gently layed her in, without waking up Katro. I then walked back to the table where Mia was at and grabbed her carefully trying also not to wake her up. After all I got them all in, I whistled for Truler and jumped into the driver's seat. I sighed and quietly turned on the engine.

"You carry me too much," I said after laughing. He put me in the back seat, along with Mia. That's when I fell asleep, as the engine in the car started.

I dreamed, about my life not ending mostly. I was eternally grateful to Mia for saving both of our lives, and I'd never forget it. I found myself in a dream, where I was in a...hospital bed? And in the bed next to me was...Devin. Then on my other side was Katro, and then next to Katro was Mia. I really hoped this was just a plain mortal dream, not a vision of the future.

I woke up, to find Mia and Katro still asleep. I sat forward, putting my head on Devin's shoulder. "Hi there, love," I said.

I kept my eyes on the road all night and morning pretty much. I had a full bottle of water next to me, so I could throw it at my face if I would fall asleep. I felt as as head was leaned against my shoulder. I jumped up from my seat quite shocked. I smiled and slightly laughed as I found it Bella waking up from her sleep. "Hello! Enjoy your night's sleep?" I asked as giving her a very quick kiss on the cheek. I was still on the highway, just about five minutes out of Cleveland.

"Yeah, I did," I said, rubbing the back of my head. I smiled, watching the road. "How do you feel?," I asked curiously. I knew I felt... alive. Which was good, but the pain still came back every once and a while. I looked down at my burn, noticing it didn't look as bad as it did before. Mia was still knocked out, from all the healing and driving she did. Katro, on the other hand, was awake... I think. Memories from yesterday flooded back. I reached into my boot and pulled out my bloody dagger. I looked at my reflection in the metal, noticingI looked terrible. I pulled my hair back into a ponytail, hoping that made me look better.

"Hi guys!" I said as stretching my arms around. I saw that Devin was on the wheel and Bella was just beside his face. I shook my head and saw that Mia was in the backseat and lied there like a dead body. "What the heck happened last night? Did I miss something?" I asked as rubbing the back of my head. I sighed as Millin barked and licked my face. "Hey there buddy.." I said as laughing a little.

"I feel alright I guess. Pain comes in from time to time. Little tired right now, but I'm fine." I said as a bright smile. I laughed as Katro awoke when the sunlight hit her face. "Hey there sleepy head. I was wondering when you were going to wake up." I said slightly laughing. Katro just glared at me with a raised eyebrow. "I'm busy driving! Bella can tell you!" I quickly said. I had a slight smile in the corner of my eye. I quickly snapped my eyes back to the road and pushed on the gas.

"Oh, we got mugged," I said with a smile. I sat back in my seat, and looked out the window. I thought about everything that happened yesterday. Was I ever going to get over what happened? Probably not, I thought. I found a rag on the floor, and started cleaning my dagger. Once it was clean, I stuck it back in my boot. Looking up, I noticed we were still in Ohio. Almost there, I thought. I smiled. The thought of getting back to camp made me happy. I guess almost dying does that to you.

I smiled and just sat there. I obviously came in to talk in a bad moment. I waited in that certain seat for the next forty-five minutes just breathing and petting Millin. I watched as each house and car passed by. I shook my head as I found that we had stopped. I watched as Millin and Devin got out of the car. I groaned not wanting to get up. No one had knew that I had burnt my my leg and hand when I was lighting the fire from the building. I sighed and slowly got out of the car, waiting for everyone else.

I sighed as we came into view with the high tower of Manhattan. "Well, come sweet home now..." I muttered. I parked the car at an abandon gas station that was just a couple of miles from the camp. "Well, we're walking the rest of the way now. Don't want to show that we stole a car towards Chiron and everyone.." I said as getting out of the car. I watched as Millin barked and ran off into the woods. "We better get walking, before sunset appears." I said as looking at the sky. I pulled my backpack over my shoulder and waited at the end of the parking lot for everyone.

I tried to wake Mia up when we stopped, but she wouldn't wake.
"Mia... Mia! MIA!," I said several times. She was out like a light. Finally, in an attempt to get her up, I did something out of character. I slapped her accross the face, while yelling, "MIA! GET THE HADES UP NOW!" That woke her up, as she yelled out in pain groggily. "Really, Bella? Was that completely neccessary?," she asked. I nodded, and got my stuff. I watched as Mia took her keys, bow and quiver, her bag, and walked off. I grabbed my newly acquired weapons, and a water bottle. I walked towards them, looking down at my feet while walking. I felt weird... almost... incomplete, for lack of a better word.

I heard in the distance as Bella started to scream or something. I instantly stopped walking and tilted my head to listen even better. But I opened one of my eyes to find that she was just trying to wake up Mia, I think. I simply just nodded and walked straight forward, walking closer to camp.

I sat on the ground watching as a few cars drove by the station, but ignored us. I took another gulp of my water bottle and threw it into the trash can that was nearby once I was finished. I stood up and brushed the dirt off my butt with a bright smile. I watched as everyone slowly got out of the car and walked forward. Millin who was in front of everyone kept on barking and barking. I smiled and slightly laughed. I stayed behind everyone in deep thought. The only sentence that kept repeating itself in my head was, 'Johnathan was right after all..'

I swallowed as I thought about what I was going to do. I had thought about this when we were back in Chicago, before we got mugged. I cleared my throat, and said, "Devin… Can I talk to you for a minute?" I was terrified, and my stomach started to churn. I told myself not to chicken out. Why was I breaking up with him? To protect us both. …Right? I approached Half Blood Hill, and stopped next to Thalia's Pine Tree.

I woke up, after getting slapped. I got my stuff, as we walked towards camp. I started walking ahead of everyone, I wanted to get in my cabin, and go back to sleep. For maybe a week. I was still amazed at how much healing I was able to do. I felt like I was going to fall asleep walking. That's when I saw Half Blood Hill, and I walked past it. I felt the security of camp again, and I was happy. I smiled as I saw the cabins.

I walked off after everyone. "I'll see you guys later!" I called out as walking onto the Athena cabin porch. I took off my shoes and backpack and walking to the cabin, softly closing the door after me. I sighed and threw my belongings onto my top bunk.

I watched as both Mia and Katro walked off to their cabins leaving Bella and me in the darkness alone. I stuttered trying to say something, but before I could fully say it Bella called me over to talk to her. "Alright.." I muttered as walking over to her. I sighed and started to rub the back of my head. "Hey um..Bella. I gotta tell you something.." I said as rubbing my head even harder.
