Jade Stonehalk goes to the Athena cabin

Jade walked into the Athena Cabin. There were lots of kids every where.
My new half brothers and sisters Jade thought.
She had just been claimed. Same as Mikey, her little brother. Only, a dove had appeared over his head, while an owl had appeared over Jade's. Mikey was a son of Aphrodite. She would still see him, but not as much as she needed to see him.

My owl, Moon was being a real pain that day. He was Nipping my ear not so affectionately and trying to get my attention every two seconds. I was ready to shoot him when he tore off the edge of the book i was reading. It didn't fo anything big, i could still ready the book but I like to keep my books in mint condition.

He totally crossed the line when he started flying around the cabin. He never does this which is one of the reasons why i can keep him in the cabin with me! If he was caught acting out i was dead. So he finally decided to stop and perch down on a shoulder that wasn't mine. The white owl was sitting and nudging himself up against a girl that just walked into the cabin's head.

"Oh my gods," I said rushing over. "I am so sorry, he never really doesn this."

Jade giggled. "It's fine! I love owls!" Jade reached up and patted the owl on the head.
"Oh, I'm Jade, by the way," Jade stuck out her hand so the girl could shake it.
She seems really nice, but then so did all the people at the orphanage, Jade thought.

I shook the girls hand as Moon jumped off of Jade's shoulder and soared out the window. I sighed. Probably going to hunt, I thought. "I'm Bella Harris, and if you haven't already guess, daughter of Athena. Nice to meet you. Your mom Athena or are you just walking around checking out the cabins? That's what I did my first day."

"My Mum's Athena," Jade told Bella.
She looked around the cabin again and decided she was going to like it there.
"What do you usually do around here?" She asked.
You should check on Mikey! Her concsious was telling her. She ignored it.

I jumped down from my bunk at the noise of a new person. I outstretched my hand and said "Hello,I'm Jacob," . I waited for her handshake,so many family members. Oh well

"Train," I said plainly. "Hook up, Train, Hang out. Normal stuff. It's just a summer camp. You could even call it school if you are a year rounder like me. You have a lot of Physical Education Classes, a few LA and Reading class, only they are in Greek, and you have dining periods. That's what you would say if realting it to school. We do holidays and stuff with fireworks on the Fourth of July. But basically, it's train and hang out, and meet the family because basically we are all related."

Jade shook the hand of Jacob, "I'm Jade," she told him.
She turned back to Bella. "Train? What's that?" she asked.
Maybe it's an American thing, Jade thought. She still wasn't used to all this American stuff. It was so different from the orphanage back in England.

"Train," I said nodding. "For monsters when they attack. Of course they can't get into camp unless they are summoned. Or if they are stocked in the forest for even more training. You can't go out into the real world once you hit a certain age when you are a demigod. It is too dangerous. You need to learn how to deal with monsters decause they are always out to kill you. All demigods. They want to wipe us out, but of course, the gods will just keep...erm...you know..."

On a totally different subject, Moon came soaring back into the cabin and dropped a dead field mouse at my feet. He then rested on my shoulder. "Lovely," I muttered sarcastically.

"Ohhh! Train! I get it now! That sounds like fun!" Jade couldn't beleive she hadn't gotten what Bella was saying. She giggled as Bella's owl dropped a dead mouse at her feet.

"Stupid owl," I grumbled. But I smiled and sratched his neck kicking the mouse out the door and onto the gree. Someone else's problem now.

"Training can definitly be fun," I said nodding and remembering my latest battle just the day before. "Team battleing is the best. It's like a mini war and they can go on for like ever. But one on one is cool too."

Of course Jacob knew what I was talking about and I instantly wanted to kick myself for mentioning it. If he started blabbing I'll hurt him.

"I can't wait until my first training session! I have a question. If say, you're five years old, will they make you do stuff that might hurt you?" Jade felt as though she had to ask the question, for Mikey's sake.

"Oh yeah," I said waveing my hand. Then I immidiately regretted it. "Oh, no! I mean yes but they'll go through the same stuff as us by they will be with kids their age so most likely they'll have the same ammount of skill making it so that they will learn at the same pace and have the same skill level. At this camp, you are not really going to get hurt often unless you are older and always chalenging off and sometimes in short training battles you'll get hurt. No bigger."

"Ok, great! You're probably wondering why I asked. My little brother, Mikey, is a son of Aphrodite, and he's five years old, and I'm a little worried about him," Jade said, smiling.

"Oh, yeah," I said. "He'll be fine. Angelica, cabin 10's counseler, and all the others will treat him well. There is nothing for you to worry about. For your brother I mean."

"Ok, great! I'm really protective over him. He's all I have left, really. So, how'd you get here?" Jade wanted to change the subject.
Absent mindily she was thinking about how well she would fit in at Camp Halfblood. She knew she didn't fit in at the orphanage because she was a half blood, but would her new half sisters and brothers accept her?

My facial expressions darkened with hatred and sadness. I always hesitated when people asked me this question. I shook it off. It's not like it will hurt to tell, right?

"Um, I was eleven, living with my dad, my step mother Monica, my step brother Andrew and my," I smiled. "Step sister Alicia, when a hellhound attacked our house in Philidelpia. My farther had always known about who mom was and what I really was. He handed me a knife," I pulled out the knife to reveal it's golden shine. "He said, "Your mother gave me this and told me to give it to you when you were ready," We were hiding then, in the basement. My siblings and step mother were making their way out the back door. Alicia stayed and her mother didn't even notice. The door caved in and we had no way out. I stayed gaurd of Alicia as i saw the rest of my family through the tiniest window crack outside calling for my step sister. Alicia being able to see through the Mist, which I didn't know at the time, watched as I tried my best to protect her. I couldn't. She was trampled and died in a heart beat. She was six years old." I wiped a tear off of my cheek, I am not going to cry, I told myself.

"I can relate to caring so much about your brother. I understand how you feel. Um, anyway, eventually I killed the hellhound with the house left in ruins. My step mother blamed me for the loss of her daughter. Me, crying my heart out, was kicked out of the family just because of what I am. My father told me about camp, and I got there half dead. I have been here ever sense, and I haven't seen my family sense then."

"I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have asked!" Jade said, putting her hand reasurringly on Bella's shoulder.
Wow, now my story doesn't sound half as bad! Jade thought. Jade searched for a tissue in her pocket and pulled one out. She handed it to Bella.

I didn't accept the tissue. I could feel her hand on my shoulder but I didn't look up. "Thanks, but no thanks." I sighed. "I'm okay. I am not crying about something that happened five years ago," I was more assuring myself this then telling Jade I was okay. Because I was. My dad and step mom could rot in the Underworld for all I cared. "Um, so how did you and Mikey get here?"

"Well, I've been living in an orphanage my whole life. Then my Dad went off and had Mikey with Aphrodite, I didn't know it then, leaving me to raise Mikey in the orphanage. All the other girls thought I was weird. The boys thought I was cute. I didn't fit in there. About 5 months ago, I found Mikey in the cooks pot, while she was cooking. Basically, she was cooking Mikey. I started screaming, and then the cook turned into a monster. I don't even know what kind of monster. All I know is it was scary. The staff from the orphanage rushed down, I don't know what they saw, but they obviously did not see what I saw. They probably saw Mikey in the pot, with the cook stirring him. They scooped up Mikey, while I was still screaming that there was a monster in front of me. They all thought I was crazy, until Mikey started crying saying that the monster I saw, wanted to eat him. So, they thought he was crazy too. 2 months later, they get a call from Camp Halfblood, saying that they were a camp for "special" kids. And so, they sent us here. Sorry, it wasn't really a summary, I just haven't told anyone the story before." Jade told Bella.

"Ouch," I said, "That's a little creepy. If I didn't know any better I'd say a cyclopes was in the kitchen cooking your brother. If not, I don't know any other kind of monster that actually cooks their food before hand. Yeah, the one thing I really hate though is when mortals think you are crazy when obviously you are not. Especially when you have no idea what is going on.

"You'll get used to it here. You'll fit right in with everyone else." I paused and I let a smirk appear on my face. "Everyone here is special."

"Yeah, I hate it when people do that!! You have absolutley no idea what's going on, and then they blame you and say you're crazy!! It's so annoying!!!"
Jade was glad she could relate somewhat to Bella.
