~Acquiring a weapon~

"Time..."

After getting his bearings and speaking to various people. Kayden was informed by someone that getting a weapon would be a good idea. That way he could train, or participate in various things. So here he was, having found his way to the armoury and looking for whomever it was that could make him a weapon.

He was still confused about the whole camp thing but he figured he might as well take the suggestion. He had an idea of what he wanted made so as he moved into the armoury he listened to the things around him as he adjusted his blindfold and moved forwards.

His mind buzzed with the odd sounds and smells of the place. As he was not really used to it. He hummed a bit to himself as he waited.

I was working on one of the swords Kaitlyn gave me from her brothers. Freaking Ares kids love to fight each other, I thought. How stupid. I banged on the bronze sword with my hammer. Finally after a couple of poundings it was straight and sharp. I smiled at the work I did and layed it down on the iron table. I felt the presence of someone else in the Forge except for a Hephaestus child, so I looked up. "Hey! Pick yourself out a weapon!" I called out as seeing the teenage boy. I had my shirt off, black all over me, and swear running down my chest. I slowly walked to the boy and said,"Hi, sorry this is really a proper way to introduce. But, I'm Cal Delear, son of Hephaestus. Mind telling me who you are." I had a wide smile on my face.

"Time..."

Kayden would offer a shy smile at the person calling out at him. He didn't really choose a weapon, considering he couldn't see with the black silk blindfold about his eyes. He heard the person in question walking up to him and simply nodded his head gently as he allowed the boy to introduce himself.

"H...hello. I am Kayden Waveharp, son of...someone...I don't really know." He shrugged a bit and bowed gently instead of extending his hand. He adjusted his blindfold gently and then fiddled with the bracelet on his wirst with the pink flower charms nervously.

"I...was told to come here to get a weapon."

"Well Kayden, pleasure to meet you." I said taking a look at him. He was short and a bit muscular I noticed. He could be good at a short sword, I thought. "Alright man. With your blind-fold on follow my voice to the weapon rack. I want to show you a few weapons." I said as slowly walking towards the weapon rack on the far side of the Forge. I ran my fingers through my hair, and breathed in and out. I was getting tired I noticed.

"Time..."

Kayden smiled gently and said, "Y..you too."He bowed his head gently. And listened to the boy and when he spoke for him to follow his voice he nodded gently and followed the sound of the boys voice...walking towards the weapons rack. He eventually touched the wall with his hand and then said, "Thanks...believe it or not, it's not easy to navigate like this."

He offered a gentle smile as he waited for the boy to show him what he wanted to. He liked the smell of this building...it reminded him of a place he used to go back home, a local smithy that used to make welded statues and art.

I watched as he made himself follow my voice. A few seconds later we came upon the weapon rack. I examined the different types, and walked to one smiling. I carefully picked a bronze short Greek sword off. "I think you'll like this weapon." I said as walking back to Kayden. I carefully placed the hands in his hands. "If you want to look at you can, but I think I'd explained it to you. This here is a bronze twenty-seven inch bronze short sword. I can turn into a pen with a click. It hardly get's rusty, but if it does, then just put water on it, then it's back to normal. With a click on the right side of the handle, you can send poison to the tip releasing venom that can kill about 15 people. It's very fatal, so I suggest you only use this poison on some special occasions." I said.

"Time..."

Kayden nodded quietly and when he handed him the blade he held it tightly and balanced, "I'd...look if I could." he stated gently as he waved the blade about slowly getting a feel for it and how it moved. He nodded gently and said, "Is it possible...to have another weapon, for my other hand?" He asked curiously.

In truth, he would have stuck with just one...but from all the others he had heard around the camp using only one, he figured he might be better able to use two of them since he had such good co-ordination for someone who was blind.

"Poison..." He said quietly. Wondering the effects of such a poison. He would have to remember that.

"Another weapon? I'm not surprised. Many people use two or more weapons actually." I said raising an eyebrow. I glanced back at the weapon rack and wondered what other weapon. Then I turned around to look at Kayden, who was standing there holding his new weapon. He was a hard person to read, I thought. "What weapon would you care to have? Like dagger, spear, bow, knife, shield, javelin? There's a lot." I said rubbing my temple.

"Time..."

Kayden nodded gently, "Well...a decent chunk of people it seems anyways. I often hear their weapons when walking about." he smiled gently and ran a hand through his messy hair as he asked him what sort of weapon he would like. When his mind went over the possible options for defensive purposes he narrowed it down and then decided.

"A scimitar. An odd request Im sure...but it's defensive abilities far outweigh a second straight blade...or at least I'd assume as much." He shrugged a little bit and waved his short sword around a little bit. He clicked it once and it turned into a pen. He could only smile...it was obvious this was all new to him.

I raised an eyebrow full of shock. "A scimitar.. Wow, didn't see that coming. Well I suppose I could make one for you. Not many people use one of those in this camp.." I said rubbing the back of my head. I smiled and watched in delight as he turned his new weapon into a pen. "Well, other than those two weapon, would you like to request for any others?" I asked.

"Time..."

Kayden nodded gently and said, "Yes...I've read the curving blade is good for defense." he stated with a nod, "Ill pay you whatever is needed..."he stated gently. He pocketed the pen gently...glad to have it before adjusting his blindfold once again and shrugged a bit.

"I don't even know how to fight very much at this point...so more than two I don't think is necessary...I still have alot to learn." he offered another bow, "My thanks..master smith."

I listened closely as Kayden told me he just wanted a scimitar for defense. I nodded in agreement. "Oh, you don't need to pay me. We Hephaestus children just make weapons and armory just to keep the children of out fighters good." I said with a smile. Once I heard Kayden say he wanted to learn how to fight I quickly blurted out. "Well if you want to learn how to fight hand to hand combat, I suggest you meet Katro Ville, daughter of Athena. She's one butt-kicking person." I said with a smile. I watched as he did a bow to me, and I bowed back to him. "It is my nature to build.." I said straightening back up.

"Time..."

Kayden sighed gently and said, "Oh...I just assumed...My bad..."e looked to the ground nervously and nodded gently. When he blurted out on who to seek to learn how to fight he chuckled a little bit and said, "I guess Ill see what I can do. I shall seek her out then..."

He smiled gently and then adjusted his blindfold yet again, "D...do you mind if I stick around? Im not really a hundred percent comfortable at this camp yet. And figure I need to find somewhere I can just...stick around. I can never seem to figure out something to do."

"You want me to get Crisla to get her?" I asked with a smile on my face. I grabbed my whistle on my necklace and blew through it, letting out a high pitch note, that only Crisla and I could hear. I stopped after a few seconds hearing that Kayden wanted to stick around the Forge for a while. "Sure! You can help me make your own weapon!" I said walking to the stone table. I grabbed a stray bronze sword and started to work on it.

"Time..."

Kayden shrugged and said, "Thats up to you." As the boy whistled in the whistle...it wouldn't be often that someone could hear it. But Kayden had no sight, so that made his hearing all the better. He heard the high pitched note and winced a little bit but then shrugged it off.

He nodded gently and said, "I can give it a try...though you have this stuff in your blood...I don't exactly know what it is I am meant to do or be good at because of whats in my blood yet...my god parent i mean." he followed the boys noises and then listened to the boy working on the blade.

He would offer to help on anything needed.

I was in my cabin just messing with my laptop till I heard a bird hit my window. I about jumped off my bed and broke my computer when I managed to catch myself. I opened the window to find Crisla flying in, wanting me to follow her. So I grabbed my back pack and my weapons, and followed Crisla. A few minutes later I was at the steps of the doorway to the Forge. I rolled my eyes and walked in to find Cal yelling my name. "Hey Cal!" I yelled as walking towards him. Once I reached him, he was holding a bronze blade in my face. "Watch that!" I smirked at him and he smiled at me. I noticed the teenage boy standing a few feet away from the both of us. "Sorry, I'm Katro Ville. Daughter of Athena." I said holding out my hand, but realizing he had a blindfold on, so I quickly placed my hand back by my side.

I hammered on the bronze blade, determined to finish this sword within a few minutes. Over and over I wiped away the sweat running down my forehead. I backed away sighing and admiring my results. I immediately gripped the blade on the handle and held it in front of Kayden. "The ultimate scimitar.." I said with a smile. I was just about to lay the sword in Kayden's hands but I heard the Forge door open and my name called. "Katro!" I yelled. I swinged the sword in front of her face as she came near me. I watched as she introduced herself to Kayden.

"Time..."

Kayden stood and listened in awe as the boy made the blade so quickly and so efficiently. Kayden knew he couldn't even hold a candle to how good this boy was. Not something he was confident he could ever do either. He sighed gently and when someone came in and yelled the name of the boy making his scimitar Kayden blinked a bit behind his blindfold.

He turned and listened to the two interact and then bowed gently as he said, "Im Kayden...Waveharp." he stated with a nod. He listened to the two interact for a few moments as he pushed a few strands of his very long platinum blonde hair from his face.

He then toyed with his bracelet nervously. Not quite sure what to say.

"Nice to meet you Kayden Waveharp.." I said with my voice trailing off. I rolled my head and looked at Cal. "What'd you want me for?" I asked boredom in my eyes. I leaned against the iron table of Cal's post and took notice of his spear. I carefully grabbed it and began to examine it. "I wonder how this weapon is against my 7-foot bronze spear." I said with an eyebrow up. Cal immediately took his weapon away from my hands and laughed. I watched as he placed the bronze blade in Kayden's hands. I breathed in and out, to once again let Cal know I was still here.

I stood there with the bronze blade in my hands. "Oh, here you go Kayden.."I said as turning towards him and placing the bronze scimitar in his hands. "It's pretty light weight, which is pretty good. Doesn't have poison though." I said rubbing the back of my head. I listened as Katro asked me a question I think. "Oh, Kayden here wants to learn Hand to hand combat. And I thought you would be the one to help him?" I asked with a smile on my face. I watched as she picked up my bronze spear and started to look at it. I instantly took it away from her hands and latched it back onto my belt on my back.

"Time..."

Kayden listened to the two speak and interact for a moment and then when cal extended the blade to him he reached out. Taking a moment to locate the weapon being held out and then grasping it tightly. He held it and gave it a few swings before nodding, "I like it...Very much. Thank you Master Smith, Cal." He bowed his head gently.

He then reached up adjusting his blindfold once again before listening to Cal explain that he wanted to learn hand to hand combat. He could only bow his head gently and say, "What he says is true...I do wish to learn. If your willing to teach?" He asked curiously.

Little did he know, or anyone else know, that he would learn at a rather accelerated rate. His future in the ways of battle and the like, were bright. He just didn't know it yet. And because of his 'Blindness' who would think that he'd be able to do anything at all? He would show them.

"Oh, I'm willing to." I said with a smile. I slowly walked towards the exit of the Forge. "Are you coming or not!" I yelled with a grin on my face. Then I turned around and waited for his response.

I watched as Kayden bowed to me. And then I bowed back to him. "It is an honor to make these such weapons for a wanting person." I said with a smile. "Remember Kayden, be careful of the poison." I quickly whispered to him as he turned towards Katro. "It was a pleasure to meet you Kayden. Come back anytime you wish for a new weapon." I said waving a hand.

Kayden nodded gently and said, "Thank you..."And witht hat he followed the girl out of the forge towards the Arena. He figured that was the next destination. He offered a gentle smile as he hurried along.
