Dani walked into the camp store not knowing why she was even there. It was something to do. Good enough answer for Dani. 'Did she need a new shirt? No not really. Candy? Nah isn't that bad for you?! Was there any reason in coming here? Nope.' Dani thought to herself. She wasn't one to waste time, especially in a time of war. Oh wait! Did they have guitar picks here? Yes! Dani's was old and half broke. It needed to be replaced.

Abel felt his way to the camp store. What he needed was actually simple. Garden seeds. Hey, he was a son of Demeter. As he walked near to the direction of the store, he heard shuffling and footsteps. Was someone already there, he was sure of it. But whether it was a friend or foe, he wasn't. "Who's there?" he asked, sounding brave as he stepped into the heat of the sun.

Dani looked up from the guitar picks. "Hey, I'm Dani daughter of Apollo. Your not going to kill me are you?" she asked laughing. The boy seemed flustered, as if he thought he was they only one here.

"I guess not." he said, walking near to the voice. "I'm Abel Montenegro, son of Demeter." he said and reached out in front of him. His glassy blue eyes surveyed the scene as if he could see. But he couldn't which makes it creepier than it is. His hands found it's way into the seeds and he tried hard to know what kind they were. "Uh, Dani right? Well, what seeds are these?" he asked uncertainly.

Dani looked at the seeds. "A lovely mix of many wildflowers." she said sacasticly. "Just kidding, they're snapdragon seeds." Dani replied. Was he blind? Dani couldn't imagine life without seeing things in front of her.

Abel was slightly offended. "Yes, I'm blind, not what you expected it huh?" he snapped a bit, temper rising. Counting to ten, he tried to calm himself and it worked. "Sorry. I'ts just, you know, hard not to see anything. At all." he admitted and hung his head. Dani was at least somewhat younger than him. How could he be so mean?

Dani backed away. "Sorry. I wasn't trying to be mean." she said quietly. Dani hated when people misread her. She was nice, wasn't she? For the most part... "sorry." she said again.

"That's," he breathed, rubbing his templates. Man, he could be such a jerk sometimes. "that's fine." he said, and reached out again, now searching for the basket. Geez, if he had his sight, he could be the nices kid ever. But the fates denied him of it, so he actually had to depend on others. What a weakling.

Dani handed him the basket. "Here. That's what you wanted right?" she said. Dani sighed , it had been a long day.

"Thanks." he said. He noticed the hint of sadness in her voice and looked at her curiously. "You know, I am sorry. I didn't mean to snap. Promise. It's just...you know...hard." he admitted to her and patted her head.

Dani smirked. "I can only imagine." she said. It was kind of weird having him pat her head, she wasn't that much younger than him. Abel looked about 16 or so, thats a two year difference.

"Well, it is." he smirked at her. "Try, just for a minute, close your eyes and tell me how you feel." he said. That same moment, he listened to the soft chirping of the birds and, the soft splashing of water. His hearing was incredible, and it was one of the ups of being blind.

Dani closed her eyes, it was hard not seeing anything. She walked around, running into about a million things. Dani opened her eyes. "I would hate that." she said sadly.

"Just try it." he said, smiling. She's hate it for a minute or two. Try doing just that all her life, he thought. "Then tell me what you hear." he coaxed.

"Okay." Dani said calmly. She listened carefully, it was amazing how much she could hear. The birds, singing their song. The clinking of metal in the armory. The wind rushing through the trees." I hear birds, wind, the kids in the armory. Everything." she said happily.

Abel grinned from ear to ear. "See. You actually could be more detailed in that way." he sighed. And it sure beats the downs of being blind, but it never could replace the softness and emotion of colors. "And, well, yeah, you could really be more focused that way."

Dani laughed. "Focused? You're talking to the wrong girl if you want me to be focused." she said listening again. Peaceful, that's what she heard. As if you could hear peace, in a time of war.

"Seems like it." he grinned and flipped his strawberry colored bangs out of his eyes. They were glassy, and the bright blue orbs shown in the sunlight. That reminds him of memories. Sweet childhood memories. "Could I ask you a favor Dani? Could you-" he breathed "Could you tell me what I look like?" his pale face smiling with a hint of emotion.

"Sure thing." Dani said. "Well you have strawberry blonde hair that covers your blue eyes. Your skin is pretty pale. You have a scar on your cheek and your about 6 and a half feet tall. Give or take an inch." she said feeling as if she did a pretty good description.

He sighed. Well, he never really got tired of asking that. "Thanks." he paused a bit. "You know, it's definitely hard not to see. I mean, when I was 14, I stared into the mirror, like as if I'd see myself even for a split second." he laughed humorlessly.

Dani sighed. She didn't know what else to say. Dani was lost for words. If she put herself in Abel's position , she would be so terrified. Not being able to see.

"You okay?" he asked suddenly when she went quiet. "I didn't mean to say anything bad. Really." he said, reaching out to touch the back of her hand slightly as a friendly manner.

Dani came back to earth. "Yeah, I know. Sorry, I just miss when this crazy war wasn't going on." she said smiling. This war was crazy. It divided so many people. Thinking like that even made Dani miss her mom. She NEVER missed her mom!

He frowned. "Yeah, me too." he whispered. Wasn't it odd that a girl her age would be worrid about a war? Well, the war is devastating. "I miss my dad too." he said, after a pause of eerie silence.

"I even miss my mom." she said sadly. "My mom hates me, it's weird to think I miss her. I was just never enough of a priority to be cared about." Dani said sadly.
