Hale's First Day

Subject: Hale's First Day Tue Dec 21, 2010 4:41 pm

I stumble with my bag, tripping over my own feet and landing face first in front of my cabin. It was shimmering gold, and looked like one of my dreams. I pick up my bag, brush off, and open the door. Inside I see a bright piano with pure white keys. I rush to the top bunk next to the biggest window so at night the moon would shine through and it wouldn't be dark. I throw my things ahead of me and climb up after them. I sigh and bend the light outside my window so it shines on my face. But my heart begins to ache as I think about my mom. Suddenly I hear someone enter and I lose my control on the light so that it moves back to wear it belongs. "Oh, hey. I'm Hale," I say.

"Hey kid you okay? I saw you fall" I said. I looked around to see if Alex was here.

I look down, embarrassed. "You saw that? Yeah, I'm fine. It's my first day, and I'm kind of beat up after running away from the satyr who brought me here; a couple times. Are you an Apollo kid? You don't look like me."

"No I'm Leo son of Poseidon." I said sticking my hand out to shake his hand. "My girlfriend Alex is an Apollo kid so I we coming to see her." I say.

I shake his hand and stare at him in awe. "Poseidon? Like, one of the big three? That's so not fair!" I say enviously. "Well, I'm a son of Apollo. The only good thing about it is that I can bend light," I say, making a strand of light hit Leo in the face, causing it to be bright. I make the light shine on me, since I'm more used to it's blinding rays.

I closed my eyes and opened them as the light go dimer. "Well yeah it's not all that great. There's not that many people so it gets lonely. Bend light eh?"I say. I stuck my palm out and a ball of water generates. "I can use water as my ability, but I can also do this" I say turning the water ball into an ice rod.

I smile as I bend the light onto the ice and it melts. Oddly, Leo doesn't get wet. "Have you ever met your dad?" I ask wistfully, thinking of meeting mine. I was sure he would be the best dad ever. "I've never met Apollo. Until a few days ago, I thought mythology was a myth." I let the light evaporate in Leo's hands and release the light, it naturally returning to it's regular spot, causing the cabin to shine gold.

"I have met mine once. There are some occasions that we half-bloods get to go to Olympus to meet our God parents and party"I said with a smile. I was fascinated by this kids power and wondered if I could use it. "So since your new you don't know Alex? Alex Dashwood?"I say.

I stare at Leo, my eyes wide at the thought of meeting my dad on Olympus. "I don't know anyone," I finally admit. I felt so young and unknown against a son of the Sea God who clearly knew his way around mythology, and life as a demigod. "I'd be willing to meet her though!" I say, eager to know one of my own siblings. "Can she bend light?" I pull the light back onto me, eager for it's warmth.

I sadly watch the first person I'd ever met that was like me go, but I decide I should go too. Meeting more demigods would be good for me. Stepping out of my cabin and into the sunlight was like breathing in fresh air after being trapped underwater. I smile and walk forward, holding my bow.
