Daniel was nervous. There were multiple reasons, and he couldn't pick out which one he was more nervous about than the other. He had finally saved up enough money to take Cressida on a real date. Not that their previous dates hadn't been real or anything, just special where they could be, or pretend to be, a normal couple. There were always risks with her being a daughter of Zeus, but Daniel finally decided why the hell not because he rarely went out of camp himself. He was taking her to a fancy restaurant in the city that he heard about from one of the Aphrodite girls and apparently it had good ratings. He went to go check it out, and it was the type of restaurant where they asked you what type of water you wanted. He had a car that he was borrowing from one of the Hermes kids, it want super nice but it wasn't run down and they were definitely not taking the train. He has everything planned out.

Even though Daniel had everything planned out, he was running late. He had forgotten about a suit and had ran to the Aphrodite to get one. They had everything picked out already for him, knowing he didn't have one. He had taken a shower, done his hair real quick, gotten dressed, sprayed on some cologne, and was on his way. When he was already halfway to the camp entrance, he realized he had forgotten flowers for Cress. He practically ran to the Demeter cabin asked them for yellow daisies, and then he ran back to the entrance. It was hard to run with a suit and tie, but he saw Cress' figure in the distance which made him run even faster.

When he finally got to where Cressida was standing, Daniel was out of breath. "Sorry I'm late." He said before starting to ramble. "I forgot that I didn't have a suit, and then I had to get a car because we can't take a train in fancy clothes and when I was on my way here I forgot to bring you flowers. I got yellow daisies since they remind me of you because you can light up any room." He said before showing her the flowers that he had kept hidden behind his back. "And wow you look beautiful." He added, practically panting.

Daniel was still panting from running halfway across camp when she kissed him. He didn't have enough time to do anything before she pulled away. He couldn't keep his eyes off of her because she looked so beautiful. He gave her cheeky smile when she kissed him on the cheek. "Is it because I'm the son of Apollo?" He interlaced his fingers with hers before leading her over to the car. "Your ride, Miss Blain." He opened the car door for her. He closed it shut before going over to the driver's side. He sat inside, buckled his seatbelt, and started the engine. It'd take a while to get to the restaurant, but it was worth it. Daniel looked over at Cress before smiling. He couldn't have been happier.

During the car ride, he didn't know what to say. He wasn't the type of person who knew what to say. He was the type of person to ask about the weather. He quickly tried to think of something to say, "Have you been to city before?" He asked while keeping his eyes on the road. He hadn't been to the city in awhile which made it even more exciting to be there with Cress. At a certain time the skyscrapers would light up. He could barely remember the last time he had went. About a half an hour later, they were there. Daniel looked over at Cress with another excited smile. He was practically jumping up and down himself. "Are you ready?" He asked with another excited grin. Something was bothering him though. Something was entirely wrong, and he couldn't ignore. He didn't want to worry Cressida though, tonight www about the two of them.

Daniel could barely remember the last time he had went to the city. It had been maybe when he was younger when he was with his mom. She'd take him some days to the city where'd she'd play on the streets for some extra money. It was fascinating watching her play. She'd switch from instruments to entertain him when he was younger. She'd play the violin more often than the guitar and the flute. His mom would play the piano at home where he would sit on the piano bench with her. Thinking of his mom made him sad, so he pasted a smile on his face and glanced at Cress. "Yeah, my mom used to take me on the weekend sometimes." He said wistfully. Thoughts of his mom were making him depressed, and today was supposed to be a good day for once.

Daniel couldn't help but have a satisfied grin on his face. He found it adorable the way Cressida watched twinkling lights of the skyscrapers. The anxiousness that something was wrong kept tugging at him, but when Cress kissed him again, it immediately faded away. When he got out of the car he gave the valet the car keys, and held Cress' hand, glad to have her by his side. When the couple got inside, he said to the hostess, "I have a reservation for Cressida and Daniel Mccoy." The hostess nodded her head as she check her computer and led the way to the secluded, candle lit table for the two of them. He pulled out the chair for Cressida before sitting in his own seat.

Daniel could barely remember the last time he went to a fancy restaurant, or if he had ever been to one at all. His mom certainly couldn't afford it, and he barely had any cash at camp so this was a first for him. He was nervous already, not wanting to break anything by accident. The anxious feeling that he felt was in the pit of his stomach. He immediately started tapping his foot, his ADHD only making the feeling worse. He turned to Cress across the table. "Does something feel wrong to you?" He quickly added on so he wouldn't worry her before grabbing a menu that was placed in front of him, "I was just asking." After he said that, the waiter came over to get their drinks.

It made Daniel feel warm inside as he watched Cress look around the restaurant like a little kid. He felt like one too as he looked around the restaurant too. It was really nice, and the more he looked around, he realized that he'd probably never be able to eat here again. He was lucky enough to have saved up as much money as he did. It had taken him forever, but he finally did it. He nodded at what Cress said. She was probably right, he was just nervous. "You could never look like a pig in front of me." He said with a smile. He immediately relaxed when the waiter came over. "I'll have a Coke please." He said after Cressida ordered her drink. The waiter nodded before hurrying back to get their drinks.

Daniel noticed Cress kept looking at a couple near them. The two of them seem uninterested in each other, and the blonde girl would occasionally look at them. The look she gave them was like they were the scum of the earth, and it was starting to turn his anxious feeling into a pissed off one. He shook his head before looking back at the menu. "What are you going to get?" He asked her. He didn't know what to get, everything looked good, but he didn't even know what half the stuff was. Maybe Cress knew what she was doing and wasn't as helpless as he was. "Hey blondie," He said remembering her old nickname, "do you know what you're doing? Because to be honest, I've never heard of half of this stuff." Daniel was used to chicken or rice, the only things he ate with his mom. Every once in a while they'd get pizza or Chinese food, but it was extremely rare that they ever did get it. It felt like an idiot just looking at the menu, but there wasn't much he could do about it.

Daniel had no idea what he was doing, and it didn't help that he couldn't even read the menu. Filet mignon? Was that supposed to be fancy for chicken? He was thankful to have Cress so she could help him out. He nodded his head when she suggested some things to him. He doubted he'd remember the order by the time the waiter came, but he'd try. He smiled at Cress before saying, "Thanks blondie." At the mention of her nickname, the memory of how they met came to mind. He couldn't remember what he was doing in the cabin courtyard, but he was glad he had made the decision to go there that day. He didn't know what he would do without her.

A few moments later the waiter came over with their drinks. "What would you like to order?" Daniel waited for Cress to order before telling the waiter his order, "I'll have the garlic chicken with rice and vegetables." He was surprised that he remembered the order and couldn't help but give Cress another smile. After they ordered, the waiter left and went to the kitchen. He turned to Cressida with a smile still on his face. "You know, you never made a nickname for me." He said teasingly. He was enjoying his time with her, it was rare that they ever went on a date, and he was going to make sure the night was perfect, or as close to perfect as possible. Daniel couldn't help but glance at the couple that was a few feet away from them. When he looked over, they were both looking at them. He turned back to Cress with another smile. He wasn't sure if it was to reassure her, or him.

Seeing Cressida happy, made Daniel happy. Hearing her sweet-sounding laugh made a real smile appear on his face. Daniel could barely remember the last time he had been this happy before, all he knew was that it was awhile ago. A thought about his mom came to mind. Would she have liked this restaurant? Would she have liked, even loved, Cressida like he did? For once, thoughts about his mom weren't depressing as he remembered their times together. He missed her a lot, but it was almost like his mom had sent Cress as his saving grace or even his angel to take his mom's place. The thought of this made another warm, loving smile appear on his face. In that moment, all his worries about the night seemed to disappear. Time almost stopped for a second so he could remember this exact moment where he was laughing and enjoying himself with Cressida.

The food was delicious, and he and Cress had a great time together. She was happy, and that was all that mattered. The check was about to come in less than a minute. During the meal, he had rarely looked over at the couple that was constantly staring or watching them. Daniel wasn't sure if he wanted to walk around the city with Cressida while they were still here, or if he should hurry them back to camp before something happened. When the check came, Daniel had the right amount of money to pay. He slid the bills into the pocket with the check before standing up and walking over to Cress' side. "Ready to go?" He asked with the smile that never seemed to fade or go away. He held his hand out for her take, but that's when he noticed that the couple that had been watching them also stood up. The loving smile that was there only moments ago left his face.

Daniel didn't know what to do when the other couple stood up. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw another couple near the door who also stood up. The couples looked almost exactly the same; same hair, same clothes, same haunting eyes that seemed to follow them everywhere. The feeling he had earlier immediately came back as he watched them for another minute, unsure of what to do. There was only one thing he could do, leave. And fast.

When Daniel took a step toward the door with Cressida beside him, hellhounds came running into the glass doors. A big crash was heard and sent glass flying everywhere. Instantly, he pushed Cress behind him to protect her and an arm over his head to protect himself. The first thought that came to mind was, You're an idiot. He should've followed his instinct, a common mistake most demigods made. They were outnumbered by a lot even if they both had their powers. The demigod couples could be children of the big three for all he knew. All these thoughts were running in his head at rapid speed as he took out his sword. There was only one thing he could do for at least one of them to get out of here alive. "Cress, run." He whispered urgently, so only she could hear. As soon as the words came out of his mouth, a hellhound jumped on top of him, knocking him to the ground.

Fighting in dress clothes was probably not the best choice for fighting. Daniel didn't have much choice though, however. He breathed a sigh of relief and got up when Cress shocked the hellhound. He had a secure hold on her hand before she got pinned to the ground. After that, a rage filled him that he never even knew he had. The other couple held him back, but he kept attempting to get out of their hold. He couldn't; it was two and a few hellhounds against one. He saw Cress struggle herself, and another burst of adrenaline and rage ran through him and slipped out of both their grabs. Cress hand pushed the guy that had been pinning her off of her. Somewhere deep down, he knew that they weren't going to make it out alive, at least not both of them.

A hellhound pushed him to the ground again, but Daniel stabbed it with his sword before it turned to gold dust. He turned around in time when Cressida gave him a kiss. He heard what she said but shook his head. "No, I'm not leaving you." He said quickly. Then, something knocked him to the ground again, and he was knocked out cold. When he got up a few minutes later, everything, including Cress, was gone.
