She's just a girl and she's on fire [Open]

Livia was flying. Her hair was pinned back in a ponytail, whipping behind her, and the wind tore through her shirt like scissors on paper but Liv couldn't care less. All she could feel was the feeling of the horse beneath her - her name was Dancer, and she was a great big dark bay, almost black. She shimmed as Liv rode through the sun.

Livia hadn't been on a horse in months (her own having died around a year ago), but Dancer was a kind mare, one that welcomed everyone on her. She was well trained too, yet belonged to the camp. A horse like that didn't belong in a camp - she belonged at a fancy stable with a rich owner. But Liv didn't mind. The moment she got on this horse, she could feel her body start to shift back to riding position.

Riding was like riding a bike - you only need to learn once. It took Liv around 20 minutes to get the hang of it again, first walking, then trotting, and finally cantering. Then Liv was really free. It was just her in the ring, her and Dancer. She was completely alone, and for once, her thoughts didn't haunt her. They were only of her horse, of her soaring over the jumps, of correcting her position. Heels down, shoulders back, don't lean forward. Balance - don't motorcycle around turns. Livia repeated these words to herself as she cantered Dancer down the side of the arena. There was a jump ahead, and Livia sat down in her saddle and slowed Dancer, letting herself fall into jumping position as the mare soared over the jump. Livia grinned to herself as she sat back down, patting her horse's neck. For the first time in a long time, she felt free. As she approached the gate, Livia realized there was a horse with a rider on their back standing right in front of her. She pulled Dancer to a walk, although it took several seconds. "What the hell?" Livia demanded.

"sorry, sweetheart." cigarette between his lips, he waved one hand, smiling apologetically. it wasn't like he had actually wanted to come out with the damn horse, whatever it's name was- it was a requirement on his timetable, and he'd just about had enough. he wasn't even very good at horseriding... hence the standing in one place, enjoying a few cigarettes before he went back to camp and pretended he'd been out on the trails. slowly, carefully, he jumped down from the saddle, pulling the reigns over the brown horses head and moving to the left to make some space for the girl. "didn't mean to get in your way. i was just waiting out the time before i go back and tell them i actually did my required hour of horseriding."
