| Katie Gardner Katie had already spent several of her hours rejuvenating the strawberry fields, but they were now up and healthy. She was content with her work, as well as that of her siblings and cabin twelve. Now that her skin was deeply tanned from her labor, and several of her jeans ripped and dirtied, she was bringing flowers into the cabin. It wasn't strange for the children of Demeter to have flowers in their bedrooms, and Katie was no exception. Her room have been bare of most plant life until now, as she brought in pots of chrysanthemums, daises and asters. Potting soil stained her tank top, but Katie didn't mind. She had been waiting to bring life back into her bedroom for so long, her excitement could barely be contained.
She slipped into the girl's hallway, past Aya and Daisy's rooms into her own at the end of the hall. After setting up her flowers as she liked, on her dresser, windowsill and near her mirror, she noticed she had one left. The small aloe plant wasn't much, but Katie knew she didn't really need it. A smile on her face, she wiped the dirt from her chin and picked up the pot and headed out back into the hall. With her spare hand, she knocked on Aya's door. "Aya, I have an aloe plant here - would you like it?" she asked against the door. "It's little, but it's healthy," Katie added, tapping the little plant with her left index finger. The plant perked up a little at the contact, as if it was a pet being petted. Similar to all of Katie's plants, the pot had a name painted brightly on the edge of it. The aloe plant was named Stanley, at least by the pale green paint that had been thickly applied on the terracotta clay. outfit

| Aya Ross Most days at camp were spent like this; lying around in her cabin with book. It was always the same books, over and over again. Aya wasn't interested in fiction or young adult novels, all she wanted to read was biographies. Currently, she was lying on the floor holding a Frida Kahlo book over her head. The scent of soil and pine wafted around the room from the candle on her night table. Aya had music from Ingrid Michaelson playing lowly in the background. This was her idea of the ideal day. She never wanted to do anything else and it was very rare that she did. Most often, Aya would skip her classes and read or wander around the forest. Aya was in the middle of flipping a page when she heard a voice from outside the door. Huffing, she closed her book and set it on her bed, standing up to open the door. "Oh, hi." She smiled warmly at Katie, who was holding a small aloe vera plant in her hand. "Wow, thank you so much." On the side of pot, was the word "Stanley" in pale green paint. Aya smiled and waved her hand towards her room. "D'you wanna come in?"outfit | |
