Katie Gardner
Katie Gardner wasn't ever one for the training arena, the fighting, or capture the flag. She preferred to stay back in the shade of things, to take care of other things that were normally overlooked. Sometimes, more often than not, it seemed like demigods buzzed by pretty things, like the garden that cabin four spent so much time on. The girl figured it wasn't appreciated as much as it could be, and wished the people would open their eyes to its awesome qualities. The wooden allowed for climbing plants to weave their way up it's braided material, making the scene very picturesque. Then again, people didn't take time for things like that, did they?

People also didn't seem keen on watering the strawberry plants that helped support funding for the camp, which left the job to Katie. She didn't mind though, it was peaceful work that gave her tan skin and a chance to make small talk with people. The plants that were watered by the daughter of Demeter didn't just get water, they also got a blessing from the girl's mother as she passed. Maybe it was her aura, she didn't know, the strawberry bushes just seemed livelier if she walked by.  Her five seconds of summer tank top allowed the sun to have access to her skin, allowing it to tan. The worn jeans on her legs provided protection from the weeds, and also acted as a barrier for water. Her shoes were damp, but she didn't mind. This wasn't really work.

Humming 'she looks so perfect' by 5sos, she heard some movement to her left. Katie didn't pay it any attention, and instead continued singing along to her song inside of her head. "Your lipstick stain is a work of -" she sang, before noticing a demigod not more than a few rows from her. Smiling, she waved at the figure, calling out, "Hey! How're you?" Katie didn't know if she knew the camper, but it would be worth a conversation.

Tex was mad. No, mad is the wrong word. She was pissed. Infuriated. Irate. Whatever word you used, it was painfully obvious that she was not happy. She had just come from the training arena, where she had lost a fight because her opponent had motioned for a time out but then knocked her to the floor. Even though it was a dirty move, it counted as her losing the fight. So, here she was.

She was dressed in her battle armor, a black and grey armor set with a black mesh bodysuit underneath. The only skin that was showing was her face, and that was only possible because she had removed her helmet and thrown it as far as she could in a random direction, which meant it was pretty far away now. She swept her blonde hair out of her face and sat down on the soil, giving her a chance to calm down. Most people assumed she was a daughter of Ares when they saw her, but she was actually a daughter of Dionysus. The strawberry fields always helped her calm down, and her presence seemed to help them grow, similar to her father's affect on them.

At the sound of a voice to her right, she turned her head. "Hey Katie." She said was a sigh "Truthfully, I'm not doing too well." Tex didn't know Katie extremely well, but being at camp as long as she had meant that they knew each other. The fact that they both were in the strawberry fields often helped as well.

Katie Gardner
Katie soon recognized the girl who she had called as Allison, or Tex, rather. She knew her from being around camp for a while, and it was fairly common knowledge that no one messed with this particular daughter of Dionysus, unless they wanted a fight. The demigod hardly ever had that problem though, she found that she could get along with most people. Jogging over to Tex, her tennis shoes kicked up dust. Even for being more of a girly girl, Katie didn't mind getting dirty. "Hi Tex," she greeted, smiling brightly.

The daughter of Demeter noted the sigh in the girl's voice, and her expression softened. In most people, it was very obvious when someone was upset, and Tex seemed just that. "Oh, that's too bad," she replied, looking out at the strawberry fields that stretched across the hills of camp. Where Katie had walked, the plants had perked up and a few had little white flowers on them, showing their growth.

Her chocolate eyes then passed to Tex, and observed her apparel, armor. If it was on anyone else, the girl would be nervous, but this was normal for her. "Did something happen during training today?" Katie asked, her gaze passing back to the strawberries. She knew personal business was something she didn't need to know about, but talking a station out could help. Waiting for a reply, the girl tied her hair up with a ponytail holder.

Tex let out a slightly irritated laugh "Yeah, that's one way of putting it." She puffed, blowing a strand of hair out of her face. "Some jerk decided he was going to play dirty and knocked me down during what should've been a time out." Her teeth gritted as she talked, the irritation even more visible as time passed. She let out a sound that was somewhere between a sigh and a frustrated groan and dropped her torso to the ground, causing her body to sprawl out on the floor.

"Gods, I'm pretty sure if I had stayed in there another second I would've broken my pugil stick over his head." She lamented, not even paying attention as to whether or not Katie was listening. Turning her head slightly, she noticed a rather plump strawberry and plucked it off. She took a big bite out of it before waving her hand and causing a new one to replace it to start growing.

Katie Gardner
Katie could sense the irritation in the older camper's voice, and wondered just now unnerved she had gotten. Whoever had picked a fight with her must've been really unfair. Personally, she believed that a fight was only done if it was won fairly. "Oh, that's nasty luck," she muttered, looking down at her feet. Hearing a small thud, she looked over to see Tex sprawled out on the floor, obviously frustrated. Collapsing into a criss cross applesauce position, Katie thought of something to say, maybe something to make her feel better. "Well, if they had to cheat, it's obvious that you're the better fighter," she said with a slow nod.

Katie's eyes were wide with what Tex was saying. Would she really break a stick over someone's head? She didn't know her well enough to know the answer. "Well, at least you didn't. That would've been messy."

"Yeah it is." Tex stated at Katie's comment about bad luck. "You know, you're right, and I can't wait to prove it in the next fight." She said with a big grin on her face, excitedly anticipating the next time she was in the arena with the boy.

When Katie talked about how messy it would be to break her pugil stick, Tex almost laughed at her wide eyes. "No need to worry. Clarisse has broken her staff before. My stick is nothing compared to that." To make her point, she stood up and drew out her pugil stick from a holster in her armor, extending it to full length. "See?" She drew Katie's attention to one of the ends, where it was meant to shock people. Tex grabbed hold of it, shocking herself in the process. Wincing ever so slightly, she pushed through it. The shocks were just meant to add a bit of edge to each attack, not cause any serious damage.

Katie Gardner
Katie wasn't sure if her advice helped Tex, as a grin lit up the girl's face. Revenge was never the answer, at least that's what she had always been told. The moral way was the best way, the way that provided peace of mind. The demigod would much rather just stay out of trouble to begin with; maybe that's why she spent so little time in the arena. She preferred hard work over training. "Yeah, just stay safe," Katie muttered, waving her hand over a strawberry so it would ripen.

Katie's brown eyes had been wide for a reason, she was terrified of violence. Sure, she could fight when needed, but anything else was out of the question. Her place wasn't with a sword, it was with a shovel or seeds. The girl's eyes followed up Tex until they reached the pugil stick, with it's electric end. The zapping sound of electricity made her slightly uncomfortable, but she tried to hide it. "Oh, right, well.... same thing kinda," Katie replied. "I guess I'm just not into the whole 'training' thing. I prefer to be out here," she explained, motioning to the fields.

"I'm always careful." She stated, her grin still plastered onto her face. She idly swung her pugil stick around, spinning it in her hands as she talked. She was aggressive to say the least, but that didn't mean she was a mean person. While she was borderline obsessed with fighting, she didn't think any less of people who didn't enjoy fighting or people who didn't fight well.

"I know what you mean." She stated. Tex had a short temper, but mostly only around guys. They seemed to frustrate her infinitely more than girls did. Of course, there were exceptions, but the point remained. "The strawberry fields always seem to calm me down." She sighed, holstering her weapon and sitting down on the dirt. She took her dog tags out from behind her chest plate, taking a good look at them and then drawing her gaze up to the clouds, subconsciously rubbing the tags.
