| guys omfg i'm such a history geek my history teacher told me I got marked down because I didn't bring up slavery in my hist paper or something like that and I wrote this very angry and kind of excited history rant what.
LIKE LINCOLN DIDN'T MENTION SLAVERY IN HIS SPEECH AND HE DIDN'T MENTION IT FOR A REASON 1. IT WAS IMPLIED LIKE HE WASN'T TALKING TO UNEDUCATED PEOPLE AND SO THEY KNEW ABOUT SLAVERY ANYWAYS AND THEY KNEW ABOUT THE EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION AND CRAP 2. HE WAS AT A MEMORIAL SERVICE EVEN THOUGH HE MIGHT HAVE NEEDED TO MOTIVATE PEOPLE TO WIN THE WAR, IT WOUL HAVE BEEN DISRESPECTFUL FOR HIM TO EVEN BRING UP SLAVERY BECAUSE A LOT OF NORTHERNERS WERE FIGHTING FOR THE END OF THE WAR OR FOR THE PEOPLE WHO DIED AT GETTYSBURG AND NOT FOR SLAVES AND A LOT OF NORTHERNERS OWNED SLAVES AND IF LINCOLN HAD BROUGHT UP SLAVES PEOPLE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN AS MOTIVATED A LOT OF NORTHERNS COULDN'T RELATE TO SLAVERY BECAUSE THERE WASN'T SO MUCH OF IT IN THE NORTH AND A LOT OF NORTHERNERS STILL HAD SLAVES AND ALSO IT WOULD HAVE BEEN DISRESPECTFUL BECAUSE IF LINCOLN TALKED ABOUT THE DEAD, AND THEN WAS LIKE 'BUT LOL GUYS WE NEED TO WIN THE WAR BECAUSE THE SLAVES AREN'T FREE' IT WOULD BE REALLY RUDE TO THE DEAD AND HE WAS ON A GRAVEYARD AT A MEMORIAL SERVICE
I'm very proud of this | |
