Hello and welcome to Spanish 101, your basic guide to speaking Spanish.
Lets start!

Lesson 1: Hello; How to greet someone
Most of you guys probably know that Hola means Hello or Hi. When you are greeting a person, Hola is the best word to start your conversation with.
Now, when you are greeting someone in English you normally say something like, “Hi! My name is Bean. “ (Except I really hope you use your real name instead of mine).

That, in Spanish, is equal to “Hola! Me llamo Beanie.”
Now there are two ways to say “my name is” in Spanish.

The first being “Me llamo” which roughly translates to “I am”, or if you’d like to be more specific, “You can call me ___ .” As some of you might have noticed, most words in Spanish are either feminine or masculine and therefore end in “-a” or “-o”. However, Llamo is a conjugation of the verb Llamar (which means to call) and therefore ends in an “o” for a boy or a girl or a robot if they are the one saying it about themselves.

The other one is “Mi nombre es” which is basically “My name is” That is fairly simple. It ends with an “e” so it doesn’t change depending on your gender.

That’s all for today. If you have any questions, please post them below and I will answer them or ask my Spanish teacher if I’m not sure.

This is the type of Spanish that is spoken in Spain, but if you use it in another Spanish speaking country they will understand you.
