Awkwardness in the Library (LordBrownbear)

Her head was buried in her book, her blonde hair sticking out above the top after all, she was hiding her face from view. She didn't want to be interupted, the book she was reading was a stephen king, in ancient greek to help with the dyslexia of course. The daughter of Athena, peered out over the top of the book, in her small corner, filled with beanie bags she was alone. She herself was of course stuffed right into the corner, her body unmoving, to the point that one may not even notice she was there. She went back to her reading, after all everything was calm at the moment.

Oswald walked around the library, a bit lost as to where to look. He was new, so he wasn't familiar with the building, and he didn't know how the books were organized. Many of the books were in ancient Greek, but even then he understood them, though they weren't the books he was looking for. He was about to give up when he saw somebody else reading a book, maybe she knew. Oswald walked up to her, "Excuse me, but do you know where the fantasy books are?"

A voice, a voice stirred Kasumi from the reverie she had driven herself into. She lowered the book down slightly to look at the owner, meeting eyes with Oswald, she opened her mouth to speak, but as usual nothing came out. Her cheeks flushed a light red colour and she brought the book back up to cover her face, with one hand, or rather pinkie she gestured at a nearby bookcase. Her lips parted slightly in a mixture of surprise and embarrasment.

Oswald, curious at this girl's behavior raised an eyebrow. "Err... thank you." He walked over to the bookcase she'd pointed to, and scanned it over for a moment and retrieved his desired book. He returned to where Kasumi was and sat near her. Oswald decided he might as well try to make friends here, even though it wasn't exactly his forte. "So, what's your name?"

"ugherem." The strange mess of sounds came straight from Kasumi's mouth to her embarrasment. Her eyes peered over the top of her book to look at the young man, looking him over curiously. Her cheeks coloured a light red "I...I...Eughdgh." Kasumi swallowed and looked down for a moment before looking back up "Kasumi."

Oswald just sighed, something like this always happened when he went to mortal schools. He'd try to talk to somebody, and after looking at him for a second, they decided they didn't like him. Some were good at hiding it, others didn't bother. This girl Kasumi, for whatever reason, was a nervous wreck just talking to him, though he suspected that may just be her. "Kasumi? My name is Oswald." He looked at the book she had. "So, what are you reading?"

Kasumi's head bobbed up and down slightly, before she pulled the book back over her eyes again. Her hand came around to tap on the title of the book, it was IT by stephen king. The young woman shifted nervously in her seat and leant a little towards the boy a gentle sigh escaping her lips. She peered around the corner of her book, peering nervously, like she was embarrased to be seen with her cheeks in such a red colour. She stifled a small chuckle and shifted once again, pulling the book, back over her eyes.

"Is something the matter?" Oswald, at this point felt as though it wasn't him causing her nervousness, at least not directly. He didn't want to have to have a conversation through this awkward situation. Of course, there is every possibility that she's just trying to read, and is mindful of the fact that they're in the library, but that didn't cross Oswald's mind.

"N...N....Nough!" The young daughter of Athena says, slowly lowering her book so that it now only covered her mouth and hid it from view. She met the boy's eyes and looked away quickly, she swallowed nervously and for a moment it looked like the blush on her cheeks was dimming. "I....I....It's.....It's.....Just.....Just" Kasumi didn't seem like she was able to complete her sentence, though her cheeks turned a deeper shade of scarlet.

Oswald merely waited for Kasumi to finish speaking. He couldn't think of anything to say to calm her down, so he just waited. He tried to soften his expression, though he still didn't offer a smile, he had to remember to try and work on his disposition in the future, perhaps situations like this could be avoided.

Kasumi swallowed, her swallow was audible in the quiet that suddenly filled the room. The young girl shifted her feet on the ground, shifting on the bean bag. Biting her bottom lip and rolling her head, mustering the courage to finish her sentance. "It's........It's......Just.......Your kind........kind of..........of.......Cute."

That caught Oswald completely off guard, and is own pale face flushed with a red color, but it faded quickly. He had never received a compliment like that before, so he was at a loss o how to react. "I... thank you, I suppose..." Not thinking of anything else to say, he changed the subject. "So, which cabin are you from?"

Kasumi looked away from the boy, she was embarrased though somewhat relieved by his reaction. The young girl laughed slightly, looking back at Oswald "Athena's...........Cabin." The young girl brought her book back up, covering her face, clearly embarrased by what she had told him.

"I see... I'm staying in the Hermes cabin, since I haven't been claimed yet." Oswald's face held a slight look of disappointment, but it faded quickly. It seemed he was adamant on retaining a blank facial expression. "All I really know is that it's my mother who's a god, so I suppose that narrows it down a lot."

Kasumi swallowed slightly, looking over at Oswald, she leaned towards him, arm outstretched as though she were going to pat his back to comfort him. Then she pulled back, embarrased by her actions, the blush deepened. The daughter of Athena swallowed slightly biting her bottom lip, watching the boy for the time being, unsure if she should say or do anything at the moment.

Oswald looks at Kasumi. "You don't talk much, do you?" He decoded not to wait for a response this time. "That's alright, I don't either, usually." He stood from his chair, getting ready to leave. "Well, it was nice speaking to you. Maybe we can again later." He turned to leave, with the book he picked out underarm.

Kasumi watched as the young man got to his feet, her heart pounded in her chest and her throat clenched. The daughter of Athena pushed herself to her feet, the book she read now down by her side, she nodded slightly. The young girl bit her bottom lip and took a couple of steps towards Oswald, placing a hand upon his shoulder. "I....I.....I'd realy....Like.......That."

Oswald looks back at Kasumi with a blank expression for a moment, then he finally managed a small smile. "Good." He said, before turning around, and walking out of the library, ending their conversation.
