Why the attic of all places?
That was the question that kept buzzing in Collin's mind as he equipped himself with a broom, duster stick, and rags. Why the attic of all places? Why did he get assigned to clean the attic? Is the fates this cruel? Then he realized this wasn't the worst thing he'd experienced. In fact, he could count this instance as an easy one. No broken bones, no blood.
But still, it didn't made him happier.
Collin easily saw the Big House in the distance, even from Dionysus's Cabin. The Big House was the usual place where his Dad stays--namely, Dionysus. He wondered if the wine god would be in the place today. It's been a while since he'd visited the Big House. This is a great timing, if only he wouldn't be cleaning the attic.
As he thought of all this, he arrived at the Big House. He could faintly hear the clicks of the PacMan machine. Oh, great. His Dad was here. Not wanting to be rude, and especially not wanting get awkward and very especially not wanting to go to the creepy attic, he sat the steps of the Big House and waited for his partner.
Ah, that thought comforted him. At least he wouldn't be alone.
Truth to be told, Collin wasn't afraid of the Attic. He was afraid of what he would saw there. He knew that the mummy, the oracle, was there. What if the oracle moved? That was creepy. But it just wasn't the oracle that made Collin nervous. It was the relics inside. His imagination went wild when he was assigned to this job. He imagined a gorgon's tooth as a relic displayed there. He imagined a massive eyeball of a cyclops spoils of war. And he imagined how large the bottle was.
Shuddering, Collin set aside his cleaning materials and tossed it at the well-kept lawn, close to him. And then he tried to calm his nerves.
"It's just some old relics. And a mummy. A lifeless mummy, in fact. What's there to scare a demigod? We've all seen them before," he said loudly, reasoning to himself.
But no one saw them in one place, cramped together, before.
