I Could Do This with One Arm Tied -Bestie- [Non-event] Coolte19

Michael was determined to carry out todays plans despite complications. He had made plans with Kate to go horseback riding when the two had spare time, however; both he and Kate had been busy lately. Michael wasn't sure when he had gotten to actually hang out with her, only exchanging a few words and smile. Striding through the stables he found himself admiring each of the horses looking for one that was ride well. He spotted one that looked mild and older and while Michael knew he should pick that one he turned on his heel to the dappled stallion across from it. "Hey there buddy, you want to go out today?" Michael whispered to the horse whilst scratching it's forehead. The horse, named Lester, seemed to be on board with the idea. With his arm Michael clipped the lead onto it's halter and lead him from the stall. Lester bumped Michael with his strong nose and Michael grimaced. Looking down at his arm he studied the sling on his arm wrapped tightly from the mid arm to the knuckles of his fingers. "I wonder if I can get away with this?" He questions himself and looked back at the entrance to the stable. "Where is she, I left her a note this morning. She said she was coming."

Kate was sprinting, her black boots splattering with mud and debris that she was kicking up as she went along. She hadn't meant to be late, no, she would never have made that her intention. Really, she had been at a guitar lesson with her Apollo friend, and it had just gotten a little late. By a little, Katherine really knew it had been a long time.

Shoving open the stable doors, she peeked in, hoping to still see Micheal inside. Kate felt horrible, hoping that he knew she hadn't really intended to be late. The demigod had wanted to hang out with Micheal for the longest time, but it just hadn't worked with their schedules. "Micheal?" she called, walking over to her newest friend, Pippa the horse. When her father had missed Christmas, and now Easter, he had sent the white horse over to Kate with his best wishes.

"Hey girlie," Dase hushed affectionately, stroking the horse's nose. Attaching the lead to Pippa's halter, the demigod led her horse out of the stables, before spotting a familiar figure. "Micheal!" she gushed, tugging the animal long after her as she bounded over to him. "I'm sorry, my lesson went later than I had hoped," she explained sympathetically.

Brushing her blonde curls out of her face, she noticed the sling on her friend's arm. As her excited expression faded into a concerned look, she glanced up at his eyes. "What happened?" Kate questioned, stroking Pippa's neck all the while.

Michael had found his way around the stables since then, he took his time pulling equipment around and recalling how to properly "tack up" the horse. The waiting was getting to him and the idea that he may have been canceled on crept into his mind. Just when he found a nice bright saddle blanket to drape awkwardly over his steed did the doors open.

Michael turned toward the sound of his name and Les the Horse mimicked his movements. "Hey Missy!" The familar greeting seemed long due, and his voice cracked a bit at the louder tone. He hadn't really spoke over a very adubile decimel today. He didn't really mind her being late, although he would of much rather she hadn't been. More or less because of the unsettlement he had been feeling the past hour of waiting. Out wards he showed his excitment with a grin and wave of his free hand. "At least you made it, I though Les and I would have to go on a date alone." Michael blinked his brown orbs up to study her expression as it changed. "Hmm?" Michael glanced down and shrugged. "Oh it's just a sprung wrist, needed to keep it elevated when up. I fell." He didn't clearify what 'fall' he took. He intended to go into detail later. But instead he reached down to hug Missy's shoulders breifly.

"Missy it's been much to long since we've actually gotten to do something together." Already he had pulled back to tend to Les' waiting form. "Very pretty horse."

SO sorry about the wait my "m" key is messed up on my other computer and I really am not in the mood to fight with it so I posted on here.

Kate felt bad for being so late, telling herself that she should've just canceled on her guitar lesson. Brushing a strand of her golden blonde hair aside, she gave him a soft smile. It had been all to long since she had seen or spoken to Micheal, and all to long at that. The demigod had been meaning to talk to him, but their schedules had clashed since February. She grinned at his comment, glancing at the stallion beside Micheal. "I'm sorry," Katherine gushed, her face red with embarrassment.

Her bright blue eyes fell back to his sling, pity still radiating in her orbs. "Fell?" she repeated, slightly raising one of her eyebrows. Kate was going to continue with her words of concern, but they were swallowed down in his hug. Lightly embracing him, the demigod smiled softly, feeling heat radiate off his body. Nodding in agreement, Pippa neighed excitedly, as if bringing herself into the conversation more so. Stamping her feet with delight, the white horse let out another nicker.

Chucking at the animal's need for attention, she ran a hand over Pippa's flank. "My dad felt bad for missing the holidays," Kate explained with a small shrug. "Pippa was a... replacement I guess," she said softly. Bringing her blue eyed gaze back up to meet Micheal's, she smiled. "I'm going to tack her up, then we can ride!" she exclaimed happily.

Grabbing a bright purple saddle blanket, she began strapping equipment onto the snow-colored steed. Saddle, bridle, and stirrups were all in tact within the next few minutes. After strapping on her velvety riding helmet, she gave him a grin. "Ready?"

As Kate tacked up her mare, Pippa, Michael worked to finish his on tacking. Lifting the saddle and clumsily finishing the adjustments for the bridle the curly haired boy was not the most efficient in this skill, due too lack of experience and his one armedness. He did finish the job soon after she did. "Ha well I guess we're ready now." Les neighed and swished his black tail impatiently and Michael rubbed the horse's neck before leading them out the doors.

Once they had all passed the stable doors Michael mounted the dapple the way he had been taught. Smiling and obviously content Michael addressed Kate. "Might make it today without making a fool out of myself to much." Michael adjusted himself carefully in the saddle before taking the reins and nudgeing Lester forward. The spring air carried the smell of strawberries from the vineyards. Now that he was with Kate after so long what did he even start to talk about really anywhere. Glancing back over at Kate however he for some reason couldn't quite think of what words to get out of his mouth so he just looked back ahead at the worn trail heading towards the fields. Like for any ADHD child, when He got quite he started talking. "you must miss your dad a lot?" She must of, he missed auntie a lot and could barely imagine how much someone could miss a person they had always known.

Michael kept a tight grip on the saddle horn as he readjusted himself once again. He would be lying if he said he wasn't curious about Kate's relationship with her parents. Even though they had been friends for awhile he knew they both had not shared everything. He may ask her, though he wasn't keen to pry.

Kate followed Micheal out of the barn, Pippa eagerly chased after her blonde haired owner. A slight breeze flicked the mare's almost transparent mane as it trotted along the path. The demigod's eyes softened as she brushed her hair out of her face, watching Micheal carefully. She couldn't quite tell if riding would hurt his arm or not, the injury still being held by the sling.

Once out in the broad daylight, a soft smile flashed over her face as she began to mount Pippa. Sliding her foot into the stirrup, placing a hand on the saddle horn, Kate pulled herself over the proud animal. Adjusting her small frame ever so slightly, she found a decent position for the ride. "A fool? You should give yourself more credit," Kate replied reassuringly, urging the white mare forward. After brushing her hair out of her face once more, she let the tension of the past few days drain out as Pippa trotted along the path, dandelions bordering the way.

She caught a sniff of the strawberry patches, which was enough to make her stomach growl, a small reminder of her missing lunch. It was unintentional, as she had found great interest in learning guitar. Katherine blinked at his question, before opening her mouth to speak. "Well, yeah," she began, rubbing the flank of Pippa's snowy neck. "I miss him a lot."

Michael paused for a moment at the comment, then turned back to face forward. "I will properly doubt myself until I feel comfortable." Ending with a slight cough and took the reins in his free hand. Nodding up to look at the upcoming fields to the side. The breeze went straight over his head and it was a bit odd not having a free hand to fix those wild curls. Michael didn't know what to say back about her father. "I'm sure you'll see him soon." Closing his eyes for a bit Michael took deep breaths of the strawberry scented air and chuckled. "I don't know about you, but I'm already ready to eat again. I know it isn't that late but I'm a growing boy I need food." Truefully if pushing 6 foot was 'growing boy' he could probably shovel food for hours.

Then after a few moments of quiet trotting Michael seemed renewed with energy has he spun back around to look at her with his wide grin. "Ok story time," Holding up his slinged arm a bit "Alright so it was maybe a week ago, so it's pretty sore haha and anyway I was out on a walk with Mars and I seen something in the top of a tree. It was glinting and I didn't know what it could possiably be." Lestor's jarring walk caused Michael to slip a bit but he readjusted himself back right. "So of course, me being me I just had to go check it out. So I started climbing, luckily it was a big fat oak around the west woods. So I got about twenty feet up and found the shining thing. So I started climbing down and about 12 feet in the air I slipped on one of the branches and fell. I nearly snapped my wrist. But I was fine so hey." Showing his free arm is showed off the long marks as if he was proud that was all he came off with.

Michael leaned over and scratched at Lester's neck and was meet with a pleased neigh although the sudden buckle of speed caught Michael off guard and he tighted his hold on the horse and chuckled nervously. "I'm trying really hard to be cool and impressive, Missy. But this is probably the second or third time I've been on horseback." Like most things if he thought about saying it he said it. Ruled by impluse. Michael kept his eyes on the horse in front of him as he sat back up straight regaining confidence. "Go on tell me about what you've been up too. Your guitar lesson?"

Kate gave the front-facing boy a small smile, knowing she wouldn't get one in reply with him focusing on riding. "Well I think you're doing lovely," the demigod offered encouragingly. She couldn't help but feel as though she had to watch Micheal carefully, not knowing if his cough was due to the fall, or something else. The demigod let a small giggle escape her lips at his second comment, which turned into a full out laughing fit. "Me too!"

Sitting upright as Micheal turned to face her, Kate offered him a wide grin. She kept Pippa on a quiet trot as he began telling his story. Leaning slightly forward, she gingerly stroked the white mare, her thoughts becoming more and more worried for the boy in front of her. As he slipped, the girl's blue eyes widened, lurching forward to help. Once Micheal repositioned himself, she remained in her forward position, hoping she wouldn't need to catch him.

Slightly cringing at the scratches on his arm, she did her best to offer him a smile. "Well, if you're sure you're okay..." Kate muttered, glancing down at the beaten pathway. Once she glanced upwards, the demigod almost yelped. "Micheal!" she burst, almost jumping off of her horse. She nervously laughed at his comment, straightening back up in her saddle. "You're fine, really, just don't scare me like that."

Brushing Pippa's mane slowly, Kate nodded. "Okay, my lesson, right..." she said, pausing to organizing her thoughts. "Well, it was just after lunch, and my friend Dani promised to help teach me. She's really good with music and stuff like that, and a really good teacher. Dani's patient, which is great for me, because I'm not a musical prodigy or anything!" Kate explained with a smile. "But it did go longer than I planned..."

Michael, as oblivious as he can be, was quite aware of Kate watching him. He wasn't sure how it made him feel. Somewhere in the mix of embarrassed, that he was apparently such poor beginner that she was worried; nervous, for mostly the same reason; excited, that he had her attention, or surprised that he hadn't actually ran into a serious mishap yet.

As he told his story to Kate he could see she did not take his account nearly as light-hearted as he felt about it. Kate's reaction his falling; however, got is attention more so. A quick wave a guilt washed over him and he slowly lowered his freshly scarred arm back into his lap. Tugging his lips into a childish frown he spoke back up to Kate. "Oh my bad, I really didn't mean make your uneasy. It's all my fault, I was stupid for climbing up the tree, just had you know." It was just one of those things Michael always found himself doing. Just doing something. Anything bad the resulted was his fault and his entirely in his eyes and he could blame the earth if it swallowed him up. Although his pulse was still pounding he turned to look back at his partner. "My bad! I'm sorry to scare you, despite how this is going it isn't my intention." With a sheepish smile he turned back to focus on the path ahead.

Keeping his warm eyes in front of him, Michael took in the early spring weather. In side the camp the sun warmed his neck and arms and song birds were eager to be heard. And all these things would make wonderful distractions had he not been near the one person he always held his attention. Michael would much rather hear her laugh then those silly little birds any day. So he gently picked up the reins and stirred his stead off the path and a steady gait towards the orchids. "Well then, Missy, we shall go forage and feed our angry bellies" The copper headed boy turned his head towards her with a cheeky grin and patted his flat stomach, reins still in hand.

Michael listened to her story although not quite and carefully and he may of intended to but listened nonetheless. "Well when you do become a musical prodigy I would like be first in line to hear you. Mr. Carroll, your biggest fan." Lightning up with his habitual grin, showing in more of his left side then his right. For such a marred face he typically kept a pleasant one on. "Did you know I'm musically inclined too?" Michael asked "I can go an entire fifteen minutes with breaking a single instrument!" Raising a playful eyebrow at Missy, "Pretty impressing if I do say so my self."

Good god, Moonie I'm so sorry i'm a terrible person for making you wait so long with a reply so I had Michael be cute and flirty. I was just not about to focus on anymore more then a few minutes so I never had the attention span to post but not right now, and sorry. The times still way but in the spring time. But if you don't want to reply that's ok. I'd like you too, but i'm sure you would of liked me to post this about a month ago and I just never did and sorry again for be so tardy.
