| So.. (why is it that all of my Chat topics start with so?) I can't concentrate. I have trouble prioritizing, and I forget to do homework and end up doing it at the last minute. I can't do one geometry problem without getting distracted. If you hadn't already noticed, this is a problem. And I was wondering if I had ADD. I've been looking at the symptoms and while I'm not super hyperactive, I am impulsive and have trouble concentrating on a task when I'm alone. According to a site that looks fairly reputable (it's not Bob's burgers.com), the main symptoms of impulsivity in children are;
*Acts without thinking (this is really very self explanatory, I do that all the time. Even online) *Blurts out answers in class without waiting to be called on or hear the whole question (Seriously, I do this. A lot. Like enough that once a class period my teacher will give me a look that says 'Shut Up!') Can’t wait for his or her turn in line or in games (nope) *Says the wrong thing at the wrong time (I tend to do that sometimes) *Often interrupts others (yes.) *Intrudes on other people’s conversations or games (especially with my parents) *Inability to keep powerful emotions in check, resulting in angry outbursts or temper tantrums *Guesses, rather than taking time to solve a problem I have 7/8 symptoms. I know that the site also says that just because you are impulsive or hyperactive or whatever doesn't mean that you have ADD, but it also says having ADD can lead to sleep problems, which I have been having for the last two years. Just wondering. And if I don't, do you guys know tips for concentrating?

| Ever tried listening to music while you do the task? It helps a lot of people in my grade, they can't be distracted by things around them as much because they wont hear it, so they can do their work once they apply themselves. | |

| If you want to know if you have ADD, going to the doctors might help to get tested. | |

^best way to find out yo. Even if the internet tells you that you have all the symptoms of a certain disorder, you still can't be sure about it until you've consulted an expert or a doctor. Hm how to concentrate? For one you could keep away from your computer or cellphone or books that distract you and find a quiet place where you can be alone. And when you're studying, think of how the stuff you're reading applies to real-life situations. For instance, you could imagine there's a movie playing in your head and the characters are coming to life from your history book. I suppose it's connecting your homework to something that is interesting to you but at the same time, not letting your mind drift away until you're thinking about something else entirely. Don't let yourself think about anything else that's not in any way related to what you're studying because pretty soon you'll be zoning out. I know it's easier said than done but with practice you'll get better at your study habits and stuff. Music works for me too, but unlike Gaz, most of the people I know can't work with music (they tend to sing along to their favorites and tune everything else out quickly) so it depends on the person, really. For me, it helps to have music play in the background while I'm solving problems and doing computations, but if I need to memorize concepts or so I'll stick to silence. It depends on you.
