I pull a chair out for Georgia, before placing myself on the opposing side of the table. We were sitting on the balcony of a nice two-story coffee shop. If you looked off the balcony you'd see the ocean, which looked even more stunning at sunset. This was a place me and mom would often go when there was money to spare. I was in the best mood I had been in for weeks. A barrista promptly brought us our drinks with a smile. They always had service like this: happy employees, who get the job done fast. I take a sip from the mug and look across the table. There was now telling what she would think of this. Due to an old habit, I begin lightly fingering the hilt of my sword. I was just grateful the mortals couldn't see a weapon until I drew it. "So..." I begin. "What do you want to know about the new world?"

Georgia Anne Wingston

Daughter of Melpomene
Georgia had been hesitant to agree to going to the coffee shop with Christopher. After watching him plunge at Jason just because of spilling a little paint. None the less, she would've felt guilty by not accepting the invitation. The demigod had heard other things about the boy, rather disturbing things, like murders. It seemed that Christopher was a trouble magnet, and yet she agreed to go with him. Besides, Georgia assumed she could get some insight on what the world had changed into, and learn how to cope better with it.

Dressed in a red lacy dress, she took a seat next to the boy, sitting in her perfect posture again. Georgia brushed her hair out of her eyes, leaning then by her scarlet bow, matching her dress. She frowned at the way he said new world, trying not to feel disrespected. The demigod knew that women didn't have rights in her day, but she thought it was different now. "Everything," Georgie said simply. "I feel so out of place, and I would assume some structured guidance would help," she added.

Georgia sipped at her drink, watching him tap the hilt of his blade. "The way you're tapping that blade, one would think you were planning to kill someone," she said nonchalantly, smiling softly. After realizing how that could've been perceived, the demigod almost spit out her drink. "Not that - er, that was out of context."

My instincts tell me to raise my hand and place it on the table as soon as she mentions my blade. When she tries to save herself it was a little humorous. I smiled a little which probably made me look like a sick murderer. "I.. I fiddle with my sword in awkward situations. Usually it turns into a fight, that way I have a weapon ready." I try and keep my hand above the table just to make her feel a little more comfortable. Because of the silence it felt a little robotic, but I take a swig of my drink, before letting the mug bash against the table

"I assume, for the moment at least, what you really want to know about is the rumors. Right?" This was a great start. I had known this chick for a short time period, and already I was about to tell her the truth about those words. "If you're wanting me to say 'I didn't do it' then you can leave. I killed those two men. I've fought a lot more." My eyes were no longer in contact with hers, instead the were focused on the grain of the table. Killing those boys who were on my side was still nothing I was proud of. No matter how much I assured myself it was an accident, or that they really weren't on my side, I still would never buy the lie. They were my brothers in arms and once they attacked me I wanted their lives. "It's not my fault." I murmur to myself. In an equal or even low tone I whisper, "They jumped me."

Georgia Anne Wingston

Georgia jumped at the sound of the mug against the wooden table, feeling terribly out of place again, all the more. She couldn't even feel comfortable with someone her own age, how better was she than anything else? She wasn't. The demigod felt so useless in this modern world, with their fancy devices and tight clothing. It seemed so claustrophobic, like it was sucking up her chance of being remotely normal.

She frowned at his assumption, but didn't dare interrupt him. The girl simply sat, which was all women normally did in her day. Sitting, cleaning, baking, and helping, that was always it. Georgia couldn't ever stand up for herself, even though she wanted to stop him from continuing his speech. The mention of death made her skin crawl.

Rubbing her hands nervously, she frowned. "People do stupid things," Georgie said firmly, looking at him with her large green orbs of eyes. "Like start wars," she added distastefully. The demigod couldn't help but remember the day she got the news that her older twin brothers had passed away, never to be seen again. Her eyes darkened as she continued remember sitting with their wives, or wives-to-be rather. Georgia directed her eyes to the ground, seeing the look in Marcus's son's eyes, and knowing he would never meet his father.

"War is just the murder of your enemies." I say through clenched teeth. I could've continued with it. Made things worse. Turn me into both a monster and a coward. I only remained silent. I quickly gather my bearings on the situation and try and carry on as if it never happened. "I need to know what year you entered the Lotus for me to give you stuff you don't know" I had gone back to toughing my sword, just from old habits. Normally I would've kept on trying to keep my hand on the table, but I was to uncomfortable to let that hand stay there.

Georgia felt her teeth clench with distaste. The sweet girl couldn't help but feel like he had made a mistake. "War took my brothers from me, not my enemies," she said strongly, her gaze turning into a glare. She watched his hand slide back onto his blade, which oddly made her wish to have her double-bladed sword with her.

Georgia looked over at her drink, feeling acidic in her stomach trying to remember the correct year that she left. "The end of nineteen sixteen, in December," the demigod said. She resumed her perfect stance, staring at the bubbles in her drink, watching them race to the surface of her cup. She didn't know what this was, but it was good, so she assumed it to be fine.

I found that to be a while back but I wasn't shocked. At least I had something to go on. Like what war took her brothers. I take a deep breath trying once again to compose myself. It was all I could do to not correct her. The war didn't take her brothers. On the other side of trench there was a man, with a gun, that held the bullet that would kill her brother. Assuming it wasn't a bullet, there was a pilot somewhere at some time, that dropped the bomb above her sibling. Her brothers are dead because the enemy made the choice to pull the trigger. It was his decision. The war was just reason to. "Since your brother died, I'm guessing you'll be glad to learn that we won World War One and World War Two."

Georgia could see him thinking against her, and couldn't help but continue her frown. Her brothers were killed by war, whether people accepted it that way or not. Someone had to disagree for the event to even begin. The event, in her opinion, was the reason that the twins will never be remembered.

She looked up at him for a moment, simply nodding. "Lovely," Georgia said softly. Personally, she knew there were bad people in the world. Horrid people, but it was usually pride that killed people and begun wars. Being the muse of tragedy's daughter, she tended to think more on the sadness that came with it, not the true fault.

I knew I had only made it worse. Once again I resort to silence. On the Manhattan viewing side of the coffee shop, a call of distress came. "Thief!" An older woman called. She called the man thief once more (a long with a lot of other names), almost forcing me to crank my head sideways. You could just barely see a strip of sidewalk if you were facing the edge of the balcony. A man darts across the small line of vision, followed by an old woman. She looked like she could be Georgia, had she not gone to the Lotus, but she still had a spring in her step. In that small gap I could see her stop compleatly. The thief had won. She gave up. I was expecting a flood of questions to come from Georgia. So before even opening my mouth to speak I listened.

Georgia let the silence float among them for a moment, just fingering the tablecloth, running her fingers along the stitching. Her eyes shot up at the screams of an elderly woman, feeling a surge of pity stain her mind. If it hadn't been for the Lotus Hotel, she could be that woman. Acid still settling in her stomach, she dared herself to watch the man get away with the theft, leaving the woman without money or anything to do but accept defeat.

Glancing back at Christopher, wondering why he wasn't asking more questions like before. "I'm not scared of you," Georgia said softly. She brushed the curls out of her yes and looked at the tablecloth again, waiting for the silence to continue.

"Good." I say in response to her. "You have no reason to be."The silence settles once again. Once I finish off my mug I place it a little closer to the edge of the table then I should've. The silence stays for a little while longer before a strange noise catches my attention. It was definitely a bird, but it was a weird sounding bird. Off in the distance I could see them. They were of great size, and they had shiny beaks. Just the glare told me that. If I had to guess they were probable about 200 yards out, but that's not really the point. When I turned to face the noise I knocked my mug off the table. I had done this so often now that I was comfortable with my powers, that it was just second nature to stop the time around it. It wasn't even very far off the table. Maybe six or seven inches below the tables surface. I had got decently skilled. When I pluck the cup out of the air I immediately place it on the table again. This time I put it a little bit closer to the center. "Being a son of Chronos I can slow, speed up, or stop time at will." I explain.

Georgia resisted the urge to raise an eyebrow at the boy, who apparently seemed perfectly calm in this situation. Christopher seemed terribly used to being put-down, and judged because of previous false actions. She wasn't sure if she respected that about him yet. It was one thing to make a mistake, but it's another thing not to try and correct it.

Hearing yet another noise, she completely turned in her seat, looking off into the distance at what seemed to be a large bird. Georgia frowned, trying to place where she had seen something like that before, but none of the memories that were registering were any help. Something about the bird was wrong however, and deadly. Hearing the familiar sound of a glass being hit by an arm, she spun around, only to blink again, and see the mug sitting farther inward. "Oh, that makes sense," Georgie replied after he explained his powers.

"Yeah..." I turn again, making sure to keep an eye on the bird. I could only only imagine what the mortals were seeing. It was clear it was getting closer, but slowly. As it approached I could tell it was more than just the beak that was shiny. The whole thing appeared to be metallic. Without taking my eyes off the creature I try and start a conversation with Georgia. "Have you got a weapon yet?" It was an odd question to ask. Yet compleatly valid. I really hoped so. Worse come to worse, the owners might have a celestial bronze knife. There were a few people like that in the city. Some where half bloods, others descendants of half bloods, some just knew a lot of half bloods. Regardless, if they had a celestial bronze knife, she'd need it.

Georgia was hesitant to turn back around, noticing large talons from the bird's legs. It all seemed metallic and black, like ink. "Yeah, at camp..." she said distantly, her green eyes still scanning the skyline. The demigod could see the bird-thing more clearly now, as it approached. Georgia sighed nervously, searching for a knife, hopefully made of celestial bronze.

She saw a long knife on the edge of a previously used table. As the beast neared, it was obvious that the thing wasn't just flying around, it was sent. "I'll be right back," Georgia muttered, standing and reaching over to the empty table and drawing the knife. Her action's weren't a moment too soon, as the bird dove at the two demigods.

I dove to avoid being skewered by the bird. When I gained bearings I flip over every table I see. It'd provide cover should I need it. I didn't know what this bird was capable of, but I thought just diving wasn't going to get it any food. The wooden tables weren't going to provide a lot of cover but it would help. It comes down at the edge of the balcony and flapped its wings. It was terrifying to see shards of metal coming for me. Reflexes stopped the time around them just long enough for me to move. The bird takes flight again, likely to prepare for another swoop. The horror of the thought that something might have happened to Georgia finally hit, and from behind the table I hid behind, I call out to her. "You alright over there?"

Georgia Anne Wingston

Daughter of Melpomene
Georgia ducked down, adrenaline pumping trough her veins, her fist squeezing the knife tightly, making her fists white. She felt a hot liquid drip down her forehead, as she saw blood on her fingertips. Realizing some flying debris must have it her, she thought little about the small piece of metal lodged into her face.

Once she dared to look up from the table she had used as cover, she noted such similar features from the bird as the ones that guarded camp at night. Harpies. Georgie knew it must've been one from Kronos' forces. "I'm peachy keen," she replied, her voice quickly lost as she saw the bird let out another tight screech. The demigod looked for more weapons, seeing smaller knives lying sprawled out across the floor from flipping the table.

Georgia knew it wasn't a double-bladed sword, but it was good enough. She threw one of the smaller, thin knives at the bird, as it raised up, as if deciding which demigod to strike at first. The knife flew through the air quickly, lodging itself in the lower leg of the harpy. Seeing it as a simple annoyance, the bird dove at it's attacker, talons threatening them.

When I hear the bird screech I knew this was my chance. As it came in for another attempt a killing one of us I swing my sword in it's direction. I knew it made contact. The bird is sent slightly of course and into something. All this happened before the section of the wing hit the ground. It was still against the wall it made contact against, facing me. Trying to end this as quickly as possible I thrust a well aimed shot for the chest. The monster pecks my hand, forcing me to drop my sword, and then pecks me in the cheek, forcing me to take a step back. I takes off once again, with a little more effort then expected. I grab my sword and take cover again, expecting another volley of debris.

Georgia watched as Christopher tired his turn at the bird, ending up being driven back by it's viscous pecks. Glass shattered as it took off again, sending small shards across the whole store once more. "Couldn't you just stop time and stab it?" she sputtered, after the shards has ceased falling. Raking diamonds of glass out of her hair, to prevent more injury later, she grabbed the large knife again. The harpy had settled itself on top of one of the toppled tables, looking all to content with its efforts so far, at it's metallic face glared at them.

Georgia knew this could keep going on forever, them trying to attack the bird, and then it just flying away. She looked at Chris with a wary expression, knowing that this couldn't go on forever. "Back me up," she muttered, swiftly flinging another one of the smaller bronze knives at the harpy's throat. Lodging itself in the shoulder of the beast, it let out a squawk, eyes glaring at Georgia. Blinking, the girl soon was less than two feet from the bird, after it had flown straight at her.

Georgia's knuckles turned white with anticipation as the harpy hovered above her, as if deciding which part of her to eat first. "Harpy like demigods, hasn't eaten in a while," it spoke with a scratchy voice. The girl nearly dodged it's pecks with the bronze kitchen knife, but most of them gave her small scratches along her skin. Georgia had hoped that Christopher had gotten her hint, and would hurry up and kill the thing already.

"I didn't plan the attack out!" I say in defense for my lack of killing it. "That was a reflex attack! Just be happy I tried to do something."When she instructs me to back her up I nod to show her I was with her. The moment she tosses the knife I knew I was out of options. The harpy comes in to start pecking, just out of reach. My sword could get up to the harpy... from below. but a slash would miss the bird and take out Georgia. There wasn't a lot I could do. But if I didn't do something I'd have another person's blood on my hand.

A wild idea hit me, and I knew it was a long shot, but it was all I got. I'd have about a four second window to take out the harpy, and that wasn't a lot. It'd have to work the first time, otherwise I'd be drained of power. energy, and blood and Georgia would become a bird's snack. It was time for me to stop thinking about it and to execute it. I begin to run towards the guard rails, while stopping time entirely. I guess it's cause I'm a son of Chronos, but I was never affected by time stopping. I now began to count the seconds in my head. The first second was expended getting to the rail. The second second I was bouncing off the rail to get to the harpy's level. The third second was about the limit of my power. I was getting weak and losing control, but I already had my blade above my head. Just as I compleatly loose control of time my blade sinks into the bird woman's skull. She collapses into a pile of ashes and I hit the ground sliding. When I finally hit the wall I had cuts up my arms, legs, and back and a few on my face. Those knifes sitting around provide to save out lives, and cause me a lot of pain. When I get me senses together I smile. I was just proud my plan worked. To bad she didn't see any of it.

Georgia Anne Wingston

Daughter of Melpomene
Georgia only saw Christopher running towards the guard rail, before blinking and standing in a pile of ashes. She knew he must've done the deed, but didn't see him at first. Dropping her knife, the demigod grabbed her purse, filled with all sorts of medical supplies. "Oh gosh, here let me-" she stated, beginning to fiddle with his wounds.

Georgia began on his arms, cleaning the large wounds and simply scanning the smaller cuts. "This could sting," she warned, pressing harder as she continued. Her green eyes passed the mark on his face, still left from the first time she ever meet him. "You always find trouble, hm?" she commented.

"Trouble usually finds me, but you know, gotta mix it up and hunt it down sometimes." I say smiling. She was constantly tending my wounds it seemed. When I notice the scratch on her own forehead I grab a corner of a table cloth and dab it against her forehead. I could've told her if she just stopped the bleeding they could treat the rest at camp. I only needed enough blood to get to camp. But if I said that it could decrease our time together here. When the acknowledge the scratch on her forehead fully I smile, and pick up one of the large peices of glass to use as a mirror. Unwrapping the bandage around my head I say, "Look! We match."

Georgia smiled softly, simply nodding at his statement. "You seem to be talented in that art," the girl responded with a small laugh. She continued to work her way up his arm, then to his face. The demigod had almost forgotten about her own little scratch, even with blood dripping down the side of her face in a hot red river.

The dirty tablecloth wouldn't have been Georgia's first choice of a cleaning medium, but she considered his actions a caring gesture none the less. She returned his smile, trying to finish bandaging his head, only to have him undo her work. "Kind of, yes, in a weird way," she replied, focusing more on her work then the reflection in the glass. "I wonder what people are going to think of us walking down the street," Gee thought aloud, satisfied with the work she had completed.

Handing him a small morsel of ambroisa, she leaned against the wall herself, readjusting her bow. She drew it out of her hair, finding it to be a tangled mess of thread instead of the ribbon she had expected. Tossing it to the side, she took in the scenery they had created. Pools if blood, flipped tables, and armies of knives lay scattered across the cold flooring.

When she asks what they'll think of us I smiled. "We're in the middle of one of the most heavily populated cities on earth. They'll disregard us as weird and go on with their lives." She had herself placed against the wall beside me clearly taking in the scene. It was a sight. I'd give her that. There would probably be people inside the building wondering what was going on out here. I was wanting to get out of here as fast as possible, but I wanted to stay around here with Georgie. "Can I shorten your name somehow? How about Gee? I like Gee." I say smiling. That would probably annoy her, which is something I was good at doing."Was this your first fight?" I ask. "You're talented with a knife."

Georgia shrugged at his reply, rubbing her sore shoulder with a laugh. "It wasn't always this busy," she stated with a small smile. The girl remembered her father bringing her up here occasionally, just to talk. It was nice, back in those days when her family was whole. The demigod could hear people bustling around in the building, most likely getting ready to find out what went wrong up there.

Georgie raised an eyebrow at the name 'Gee', but laughed. "Sure, if it's easier for you," she replied. It was better than Georgie, which was rather masculine. At his question, she shook her head briskly. "No, I don't believe so," Gee responded. "You were pretty amazing yourself."

"I've had a lot of practice." I respond. Our fight must've lasted longer then I assumed cause the sun was now sinking closer and closer to the horizon. A few minutes max and it'd be right across the vast ocean in front of us. I decided to spend that time catching my breath. Stopping time in general was hard. Stopping time for four seconds was an all time best for me. I knew if I practiced stopping time more often I'd be able to do it for longer. Like exercising I guess. Still I let the silence be broken by nothing but my heavy breathing.

As expected just a few seconds later the sun peaked at the lapping waves. The normal crimson was pink this time. The waves turned a hot pink and the beads of glass on the porch turned the same color. The tiny weapons lying on the floor were reflecting focused beams of light almost everywhere.
"Beautiful isn't it?" I say more pointing out then actually asking. It would take someone who hated everything to dislike this sight. "I'm sorry about your brother," I tell her. This time I was going to offer a little more comfort than before. "I know what it's like to lose a family member. It's always tough."
